To the OP: I am sincerely very sad that you have been coming to Thailand and have to relive the same cathastrophic sadness over and over again. I just guess you must be the most unlucky man in the whole wide world.

Okok....it hasn't happened aaaall the times, with aaaall the girls I have met. It happened when, for whatever reason, I met girls for whom I couldn't help falling for, forgetting the "context"...

Having said that, I agree I have been unlucky...

To the OP: you say they were mostly working girls. Then by definition money's the objective. And most of them have heard protestations of love in the sack countless times only to never hear back in the morning. So you can't blame them for staying focused on the tangible and not realize that you were different (you were right?).

    .....

On the other hand, if you're going to try to talk her into "I no pay money. But I take care you forever." the second time you pick her up from the Thermae, you're not going to get far.

Indeed, indeed, I found myself forgetting the context of things in more than one occasion. I admit to that. Or maybe I thought that the prospect of getting married, moving abroad would outweigh the immediate tangible...it worked for someone.

Was I different? I didn't have the opportunity to prove myself.....

And no, I wasn't trying to get sex for free..LOL

Then again, have some one heard the same sentence?

To the OP, can you say 'ผมคิดเกี่ยวผมชีวิต' (phom khit-keiyw phom chiwit) which is 'I think about my life' in Thai with perfect pronunciation?

If you cannot I find your criticism of slight pronunciation errors of Thai people's English you have encountered rather arrogant.

Never in my post did I criticised the way Thai people speak! I just tried to describe how phonetically that phrase sounds as maaaany people do in maaaany posts here on TV.  Actually, I quite like the thai accent (which is by the way another trap for the Gullible farang)

My post was about a situation some could find themselves in, not a grammar lesson.

You completely misunderstood the point of my post and you accusing me of being arrogant is moronic.

No, I can't pronounce that thai phrase let alone read it, but you don't understand plane english

  4. Looking back to past experiences of relationships with Thai girls, I would like to share my thoughts on a situation that I faced more than once.

After noticing a mood change or a colder attitude, I would ask if something was wrong. The reply would be "I tink about my lie", the closed translation of which could be "I have been reflecting on my life". After trying to narrow down such a broad statement by asking questions, showing empathy, affection and bla bla bla, mostly it all came down to the same thing: they wanted money.

Declarations of love, proposals to found a family and offers of a life abroad were falling on deaf ears or were even looked upon as items that were making the bill higher. The only thing that mattered was cash.

I have to admit that most of the times that happened with working girls for whom I fell for, with one exception though. Additionally, after all, money is what those girls are out for and after playing girlfriend for a while, it is time to drop the mask and focus on the objective of the mission.

Looking back to it, I am soo glad I didn't fall in the trap of a relationship that would have torn me apart at the end. I also find hard to believe how stupid I was to fall for those girls, but it happens to many....

I was just curious if someone has faced the same sentence......which can be interpreted: I tink about my lie = I want money

  5. Last time I was over, a couple of months ago, I have noticed a few black working girls at Tai Pan. In other forums I have read negative comments on African working girls but they were referring to the ones who can be found in lower Sukhumvit in Bangkok. The comments were mainly warning that those girls are thieves. If you bring them over to your room, they would search through your belonging, when you are in the shower, and steal what they can.

Has anyone heard such things happening in Patong?

  6. I recently bought an ipad pro 12.9". I would like to buy a back cover for extra protection compatible with the smart keyboard. The price of the original apple silicon back cover puts me off a little bit as it costs 4100 baht in Thailand and 89 euros in Europe (so even slightly more expensive in Thailand).

Did any ipad pro user find an alternative to the original? Something that offers the same protection but reasonably priced from those computer accessory stores in Fortune or MBK or even online.

  7. Gppower,

I usually wear tennis or low cut basketball shoes, whenever I workout at True Fitness!

Yes, I myself wear handball shoes ... flat toe area...wide...stable. They are totally worn out now though. If I can't find a trendy and flashy cross-fit pair of shoes I will get the type you recommend....

  8. PCX price is 250/300 max per day. You can show your passport / driving licience (bike) , but only leave a cash deposit , with reciet. Take photos of bike before you leave shop , with owner knowing , to prove any claims of damage upon return. Ride VERY carefully.

would you recommend any rental shop? Do you think it is safer if I let my Thai girlfriend rent it on her name?

  9. Some friends from the US were visiting last week, and rented what looked to be a very new Honda PCX150 for 7 days at 300 THB/day.

I think they rented it from a guy outside the Thara Patong hotel on Sawatdirak Rd, near the beach road in Patong. Most scooters are 120-125cc, but the PCX150 is the biggest one you can get, at 150cc. They needed to leave a $100USD deposit, but no passport was required.

Is demanding a deposit a common practice for motorbike rentals?

  10. I will spend a few days in Patong a the end of the month. I am thinking about renting a scooter. What is the standard daily or weekly price?

The scooter should be powerful enough to carry two persons, me and my girlfriend, not only around Patong but also to other beaches. What model or engine power should I go for?

I will ask my TG to rent it on her name and documents to reduce scam risks to a minimum but I would appreciate if you could point me to a rental shop you have been happy with.

  11. I will spend a couple of weeks in Patong. I would like to take the opportunity to have some massage to try and relieve my lower back pain. I don't mind if it is oil or thai style massage although I found in the past the latter too hard and therefore unpleasant. I am open to suggestions though.

Needless to say I am not interested in any "special" or extra service.

Very often it is not all the personnel in a massage parlour that are really good so I would appreciate if you could suggest not only where to go but also the name of the masseur/euse. You can PM me if you are not confortable at divulgating names in the open forum.

  12. I would like to buy some little jade souvenirs in BKK to take home. I would like to avoid the silly prices of the Sukhumvit area and of course the potential fakes.

Is there any (jewel) shop that sells legit jade items? I mean the analogous of the gold shops in Yawarat where you are sure you get the real thing. I don't mind going to chinatown.

  13. That's funny because I used to have a hard time STOPPING them from doing that. In my experience that is the default expectation. I finally gave up when my regular removed the cuticles while I was napping. Now I just let her do it every time. Really surprised you are having any problem finding this service. In any case, you could go where I go, Dang Salon in the mall building at the S.E. corner of North Pattaya Road and 2nd Road.

What is your regular's name then?

  14. What is the right fare to pay for a motorbike taxi ride in Pattaya? Say, from Thap Phraya road, where my hotel will proly be, to Beach Road/Walking Street.

Is there such a thing as the taxi meter as in BKK?

    Do mototaxis run after dark?

I don't mind the baht bus but I don't know its route....

  15. Heading to Pattaya on hols for a couple of weeks in January. This is is not the first time in Thailand but it is in Pattaya. I don't ride motorbikes and I would rather tend to avoid the hassle of huggling with motorbike taxis several times a day for moving around.

I'd rather stay at stricktly walking distance from non thai restaurants. I am going to hit the gym in the day (Tony's I have been adviced) and I plan to go to the discos in Walking street at night. Yes, it will be a solo trip.

Budget is 1500 Bahts per night max. That is what more or less Nana hotel charges in BKK but I have been told that in Pattaya you get a lot more value for your money than in other turistic locations in Thailand.

I am not necessarily after a pool if the lack of it increases the standard of the rooms...

On holiday I like sleeping till late so I need to avoid all costs rattling A/C and noisy neighborhood...

    Please advice.

  16. When I visit MBK and all the other shopping temptations in Bangkok I fear that if I buy some of those counterfeit items I may regret it when I go back to the UK.

I am referring to watches, clothes, handbags and all those nice "fakes" I would shove in my bags and bring back for myself and for family/friends.

Has anyone tryied his luck? Have you had your bags searched at the customs and got cought? Have you considered sending the souvenirs to yourself by post?
