  1. The one I purchase at the car fuel stations (I go to any station along 118) is the SUPER POWER brand PURE DISTILLED WATER , the rest of the print is in Thai. The print is in blue.

The bottle is 0.5 l and costs around 20 Baht, ;if I am correct. I use it for my iron and we have also used it to top up a car battery.

  2. Both coordinates sets are correct, as kaptainrob has confirmed: his are in a digital format and mine are in degrees. The GPS gives you an input choice of either.

    cheers

  3. Oops, most location posts came on Thursday, when we were already on our way. CLOSED THURSDAY ( as Kaptainrob posted yesterday, on Thursday), but did find the place and the co-ordinates are: 18 deg 45' 04" and 98 deg 58'40 ". Will have to arrange another trip to enjoy the potato pancakes though.

    Have a great day

  4. We are checking our options at this point in time , as have had some bad experience with a couple of gardeners before (unreliable, drinking on the job).

We are not motivated by the money factor and would pay an ongoing rate fit for a valuable worker .

This person has been mentioned by our neighbors as skilled and reliable, however, if we decide, we would like to do it "the right way".

Thank you Guys for your input and all information.

    have a great day!

  5. Hello

does anybody know, what are the laws in regards to employing a gardener who is from Burma, but is currently living in Thailand?

That person has worked previously a few days here, few days there, and now is interested in working 6 days a week for one

employer. We are a household, not a company.

Somebody has mentioned that farangs (we are from Australia) are not allowed to employ anybody but Thai citizens.

Any information or whom should we contact for further information, would be greatly appreciated.

    thank you

  6. Hi Everyone, need to repair a leather jacket. I have already found on the internet: BagFix.com with many outlets in Bangkok and one in Chiang Mai, supposedly close to the Airport. Does anybody know this place , I need an address, please?

    have a nice day

  7. Thanks for your re-ply Guys! The water in my fish pond is approx. 600 mm deep.

The lake is man made and it's a rain water.

The water must be ok, as there are plenty!!! of fish in it (not koi though). Made a mistake once of introducing a lake fish into my pond and the lake ""piranha"" ate some of my koi! Learnt a lesson.

We have filled up the pond direct with the lake water and then let it to circulate through the filter.

Only one of six koi (approx. 10 cm long) from my last batch has survived so far.

All other were jumping like crazy in the water that is cascading from the pipe, it just looked crazy, my survivors do not do that. Next day they were not eating, became inactive, seating in the corner at the bottom of the pond and that was the end.

    Next day floating dead.

No , I did not quarantine them and thanks for the suggestion. Also, I shall change part of the water more often. An equipment to test the water is a great idea, will invest in that.

One thing made me thinking: at the market in the big shop, immediately next to the entrance, the basins were empty,

there were no small koi for sale. Went to the next shop , a smaller one and the seller said something about ""mai sabaj", and yet has sold me the fish. Perhaps they have already carried some disease?

Does that information make any sense?

    Thanks again

  8. Well, we got our fish pond going, it's been running now for a about 3 months. The pump and the filter seem to be working fine, the pond is outdoors and under the roof cover, not exposed to the sun.

We seem to be very good at killing the fish though !!!!! Only 3 have survived out of our first batch of 9.

We buy our koi at the Khamtien Market. We did release them from the bag, as instructed, after half - one hrs after immersing them into the pond.

We feed them a little only once a day.

The water comes from the lake and then being filtered. We have changed all water once after the fish have died.

Last week-end we have bought 6 more koi (sml) and all but one have already died.

What are we doing wrong? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    cheers

  9. A Stollen is a traditional German fruit cake made from the yeast dough, but is not moist nor soft, it's rather dry and solid.

The one I am talking about is made "like Mum used to make", with real butter, sultanas soak in brandy, non of this diet stuff.

Wrapped in a cling wrap and an alufoil, stored in the fridge, it can last for ages. And you slice it very thinly. Enjoy!

  10. I have searched all the usual: Rimping, Tops, Central Festival, only Maple Syrup. Rimping at the Maya had a Golden Syrup (although it said: maple flavoured), but it was runny, and no good for may baking purpose. If desperate, I would have gone with LAND TROUT's advise re: molasses, however luckily , I am getting the real staff from Australia...

  11. Thanks, LaPeste, will go there tomorrow, but will ring them first to check if the Christmas Stollen is available. By the way, the best Stollen in CM.

And we will try the oatcakes if they have any. Thanks again, Guys.

  12. Hi All

does anybody know a new location of the Crusty Bread Bakery? Went today to their old location in Chiang Mai Land Rd (next to the Trio advertising), to buy their delicious Christmas Stollen and they have moved. Can anybody help, please?, Thank you
