Cuba does this kind of thing all the time. Their government can be too authoritarian, and the treatment of homosexuals in the early days was reprehensible, but remember they have spent their whole existence struggling to survive against the hostility of the most powerful country in the world. Castro's regime was much better than what came before. Asking Cuban exiles in Miami what they think of Castro is a bit like going back and asking people who fled the American revolution what thought thought of George Washington. You're not going to get a balanced view.

Anyone who thinks the Democratic Party is left wing doesn't understand politics at all.

I like how the article and several poster omit the context of the fact that the Democrats were only in power because the military had ousted the democratically elected government in a coup. When the military violates your democratic rights with violence, you should respond with violence.

That conspiracy theory charge that democrats are for "open borders" (which they aren't) in order to grow the democratic party voting base is currently a very mainstream republican party talking point.
The joke is that South and Central American communities tend to be socially conservative and Christian. So if the Republican party were less racist they'd probably vote for them anyway.

it seems all the farangs like to do is trash their host country, expressing extreme cynical views about Thailand and Thai society. Very unfair.
Not a big fan of Prayut but we must remember the whole story. Without the Thai military stepping in the Red Shirt agitators would have pushed Thailand in acivil war. After weeks of disrupting Bangkok they start with burning down Central. Military did what it had to do. If anythong, it were the Red Shirts who forced what came next.
Besides that, Prayut did not a bad job all these years. As an environmentalist myself, i noticed he did some pretty good stuff with regards to the environment.
Even if you oppose so strongly, we live here voluntarely, we are guests. Why get involved in politics in such a negative way? Funny song for the farang but it m9ght be denigrating for at least some Thai. Dont like it here? Move to Vietnam.
Anyway, thx to this farang sucker, life has just become a bit more dificult for the farang.
The red shirts were protesting because the elected government had been removed by the military. What would you do if the military in your country kicked out the government you voted for and replaced it with one more friendly to them?

This is why the Democrat vote collapsed. People know where they stand, and the people who wanted to vote for the military just voted directly for the military.

Just revoke article 50. It's clear the people pushing for Brexit did not have a coherent plan in place to get it done in a reasonable manner in this time frame. If there's still a strong appetite for leaving, the Tories, or any other party, can put it in their manifesto for the next election. The people must be allowed to change their minds when confronted with new evidence. And if it turns out they haven't changed their minds, at least do it right and don't make an absolute mess of it as is happening at the moment.

Chinese universities are not much better than the ones in Thailand, same sh.. lived there, know that, Chinese are not smart nor clever as many westerners are, Chinese are much better at cheating/copying then anybody else I met
There are some really strong universities in China, and there are none in Thailand, but most people aren't going to get into those, and the better Thai places are around about as good as the mid tier Chinese places, at least as far as I can tell.

Unfortunately this guy probably didn't have much choice. For him it was likely "do this or get another job". Of course the problem continues because the people responsible are never held accountable.

How is the 'traditional approach to education' not relevant to becoming a data scientist? To work in data science you need to have skills in some combination of statistics and programming, depending on exactly what role you have.
As for blockchains, the only reason people are interested in blockchains is because the price of Bitcoin went up, and the only thing the price of Bitcoin going up proved about blockchains was that they don't scale up well. It's a neat solution to a theoretical problem that doesn't have a wide scope of practical application. It's 99.99% hype. Just people trying to sell FOMO to tech illiterate CEOs.

There is a middle ground, the use of heard guards for young fighters and they can only compete in amateur fights.
Brain damage in boxing is caused by sudden rotational accelerations of the head, so head guards don't actually help.

Of course the military will not instigate a coup. However, if a political situation not to their liking should come about, and if, purely by coincidence, violent protests should occur because of this, and if the military were to allow this violence to escalate, arguing that the right to protest is very important, and that supporting the elected government would compromise their 'neutrality', and if the situation were to reach a point where protesters were able to 'shut down' major cities, then...

Leaving aside his recent behaviour, he's done nothing to suggest he's more intelligent than the typical person who gets a place a grad school place at Stanford in physics. He's obviously smart, but his initial business success can be attributed to having a decent idea and being in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. While he is certainly visionary in his ambitions, it's not clear to what extent he is personally involved in technical development in any of the programs his companies are involved with, and his ambitions are currently far from being realized anyway. As businesses his companies are not successful by the usual yardsticks by which companies are judged.

I know that guy. He's a machine. Works full time, and still trains as hard as anyone. I'm glad he didn't get stabbed or something.

Macron is right, we will never achieve a constant climate because this never happened since the earth existed and never will be. Who on earth has the idea to keep the climate constant is an ideological idiot or an organization which wants to collect donations and government funds from taxpayers.
Climate change is natural and inevitable. The problem is that we're headed for 10,000 years or so of natural climate change in the space of around 100 years. The planet will survive, and no doubt there will still be life on it, maybe even human life, but if you don't appreciate how dangerous this is for human civilization as we know it then you obviously haven't understood the situation at all.
SURVEY: Cryptocurrencies -- wave of the future or disaster waiting to happen?

Bitcoin is functionally a decentralized ponzi scheme at the moment. It generates no wealth. It does not function as a currency. It costs a lot to keep the system going. There are profits to be made, but it's pure greater fool. Some will win, most will lose. The price is heavily manipulated by Tether and Elon Musk <deleted>posting on Twitter. There's a use for truly anonymous cryptos like Monero in darknet trading and ransomware attacks. I guess in theory you could use an anonymous coin for something more worthwhile like funding anti-government activity in dictatorships, but this is very fringe in comparison to the actual interest in crypto, which for the vast majority of people comes down to wanting to get rich quick.
