  1. hard to get accurate info on this story. but Im wondering if she was alive when taken out of water. the story as I can desipher it says she was hit and went down and divers searched for her for ten minutes to no avail.. well if she truly was hit on head by rotor and she went down for ten minutes she would have drowned. but I see a picture on internet of them working on her on ko tao. was she dead at scene or later. secondly what type of trauma unit do they have on ko tao ... do they have any quality service their? I had a small wart on ko tao which was cancerous and I went to ko samui and I didn't even feel good getting it removed their I ended up going to bkk.

maybe its time the thai govt keeps a helicopter on standby on ko tao for medical emergenices so people can have quality care in bkk. the thai govt will still pocket good money from people getting run over, but at least they will get good care I don't want to be insensitive to this gals death. but darn it when are the thais going to learn, their is so much dangerous activity that takes place on ko tao. medical services need to be improved their. just walking around ko tao u see battle scars daily from motorbike accidents . from drunken tourists. who don't wear shoes on a motorbike let alone a helmet. the thai police on ko tao care more about busting u for a joint than public safety.

  2. upon further investigation I now see that two Russian divers died in the same province on the same day? they were diving alone. but who gave them air? a dive shop? now I can see if you have proper credentials that a dive shop gives you air. but if you are a newbie , why is a dive shop giving them air. this is ubsurd. 3 deaths due to dive accidents in same province in the same day. is Thailand totally out of control

  3. The nation newspaper gave this story two sentences? Sometimes i wonder if the thai govt. Covers up stories that affect tourists.

For instance thier was a story of a woman on ko lanta a few years ago. She was killed by a box jellyfish. I heard the thai govt. Purposely didnt want that story to get out because it would hurt tourism. The thai govt. Should take peoples saftey as concern one. Now it could be the woman who died from jelly fish was allergic more than the average person to box jellyfish but then i heard box jellyfish were popping up on phuket beaches and the govt was hiding that fact as well. If thier are safety concerns i want the thai govt to freely expose them. Is this a democracy or a communist state

  4. I want more facts on this story and i want them now. I want thai visa forum to personally take up this story and follow it. This girls life should at least help future people going to the island . So sorry to her family even as a tourist myself that goes to ko tao im ashamed. And i want to know if the thai govt is spending adequate monies for trauma care on ko tao. How many people have to die on that island before somebody gets a clue. Its like the thais want u to get hurt thier. Money in the pocket for medical care, motorbike repair. This has gotten out of control greed

  5. Why is it that dive shops are all drunks i dont want to judge scuba junction dive shop. But if you look on their fb page they posted a christmas greeting 3 days ago . And a few of the people (during the day) had a beer in their hand.

As a diver and a non drinker i dont dive in ko tao because a majority of the dive shops their are drunks.

Now i dont want to single out scuba junction. Having a small beer never hurt anyone. But its time the dive shops in ko tao cleaned up thier act..........

As a diver i wont dive on ko tao because its almost impossible to find a dive shop thier that aint drinkers. Its pathetic.

Lets get the facts. And maybe this poor girl . Who trusted the dive shop with her life. Will be an example that maybe now. Finally after all the thai greed and western dive shop that really just care about diving themselves and just use tourists as a meal ticket. Now maybe things will change.

I want more facts on this story. Boats should be watching out for snorkelers not running people over so they can make money . Just go to that island off the coast of ko tao where lomprayah takes hundreds to snorkel each day.

Finally what about jet skis on ko tao. Maybe its time to start to restrict thier activity. They can kill too.. And we all know jet ski people could be drunk

This womans life should be the first step now to change on ko tao and safety dont let her life be lost in vain

  6. if you think air asia is bad look at Cebu pacific. they have to be the worst airline in the world. they play air asia tricks but even worse. do not fly them........air asia although I don't like their nickel and dime attitude is flyable but my favorite by far is NOK air. if I have to pay a bit more on nok versus air asia . I do that in a heartbeat.

  7. The barriers are now manned and it is not possible to get through on departure level. The smokers are now confined to the narrow pavement bit. Clearly some effort to police the new system and to stop arriving pax picking up a taxi on that level

I checked out the new turnstiles last night when at the airport. They are very effective as I noticed at least a dozen people in a space of a few mins try to make their way through without luck. The deterrent was effective though a couple of thais argued with the AOT staff at one gate. (There are actually gates which open adjacent to the one way turnstiles and allow access but these were locked)

Note that at that time, not all turnstiles were staffed. I also found that it would not be so difficult to just climb/step over them if one only had minimal luggage - the top is around waist height for moi.

Of course, the easiest thing to do is just exit at Gate 1 or 2, walk to right, to the end, cross the inner lanes and thus around the barrier so that one could access the outer lanes where taxis drop off pax.

Though I took the ARL, I Surprisingly noted that the downstairs AOT taxi stand was very empty. This at 7:30pm which is normally a semi busy time.

yes its true no more taxi at departure area........I feel like a cow. I went to first floor and if you walk far enuf out from airport their were a few taxis their waiting for meter only. its only a matter of time before the taxis figure out how to get around this sucky problem. the taxis don't like the current system and the customers don't like it either..........who wins, the mafia who is collecting the 50 baht , that I have to pay to wait after being on a plane for 16 hours!!!

  8. u are willing to go on a scooter......u have got to be kidding.............go up to chaingmai ........their are some shops their...........get a 500 cc.........Honda xr or similar and put some bags on the back......as long as u are not going big miles it will be good...........ur post is confusing........first u say u want a superbike.........? then u are willing to use a scooter? are u for real? get a bike that can be maintained easily in lao, etc...........if it were me I would be considering the Honda or kaw 250 dirt bike street legal.............(I wish they made a bigger one but they don't sell one at this time.......im waiting for them to come out with a 500 cc...............I have a ktm 690 enduro in usa.............but in bkk where they sell them they are silly expensive.......maybe u could rent one of those............

  9. There is no such thing as a multi entry tourist visa. They are issued for 1, 2 or 3 entries. They cost #49, #80 and $120 respectively. If you have a visa you don not need an onward ticket exiting Thailand. You should try to get a triple entry just before your departure and you can get almost 270 days in Thailand with two border runs and three 30 day extensions at immigration - cost 1900 baht. Contact the Honary Consulate inb Portlandm preferably by phone, to see what the current requirements are for a non US citizen: attachicon.gifVisa application porcedures, Portland Oregon.doc

note. some airlines when boarding plane in usa have hassled people saying that thai authoritys will not let them in kingdom without an onward ticket..........im not sure how this has played out........airlines probably do it cause they are pissed u didn't buy a return withthem but in your case u can just say , I am a multinational and I am going to a different country afterward.......I do think that if u try to get a 3 entry tourist visa. thai embassy in usa might not give one because they want to know how long u ar staying in kingdom .......guess u just try it and see if they give u one
