  1. KKr,

Thanks for the reply. I am living in BKK so your Pattaya connection wont be useful to me. Rest assured that I will carefully and kindly plead my case to the agent at the airport.

    Regards,

    gb33

You will not have to plead a case at the airport. Just have the 20,000 Baht in your hand and get on the airplane, it's that simple.

Advertising on this page may get you unnecessary and unwanted attention, but other than that you're going to be fine.

  2. <deleted>????????? Worst news all year

Let me be the first to congratulate you on having a pretty good year so far.

only 40 days in and all down hill from here 555

    Words of advice:

Stick with DTAC, don't fall in love, always use a condom, beware of street cart food, don't complain about Russians, get used to hearing Free Bird and Hotel California, always ask how much something cost beforehand, get a Thailand drivers license from the DLT immediately, buy a cheap secondhand moped and don't take any crap!

  3. I live in a no dog condo. I'd like to have a dog too, but I agree that the rule is a good one and it seems to be fully enforced.

If 100 or 200 of the occupants had dogs, which in my building would be far fewer than half the units, how many of those dogs would be barking or crapping or urinating somewhere in the building or the elevators or the parking lot at any given moment of the day or night? And how many of them would be dumped just outside the building once the owners became bored with it all and decided to part company with Bowser?

If you really want a dog, rent/buy a house with a garden. Life will be more pleasant for the dog, for you and (probably) for your neighbors.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Rent a house and live in a unsecure area.

You will have all the amenities a dog will need to live comfortably, without all that pesky security that comes with living in a condominium.

  4. Most of the world will believe what these people have to say. I mean they have some video footage, injuries and a story to tell that's gripping and informative.

I'm sure Chris 12345 isn't going to be too happy with the CNN interview. But then again, it seems as if Chris 12345 has no empathy, as somebody else pointed out.

I'm not too sure that Chris 12345 is actually the owner of the dive shop/company that brought these poor people out to sea and abandon them, but if he is, shame on you Chris 12345!

  5. I really don't want to get into to forum gossip but I should clarify. Our dive boat broke down, the engine would not start. If the captain could have drove back to shore he would have picked up the dives first. He was floating in the sea until another boat came with a part to fix the battery.

That is the reason he called for another boat the collect the divers.

Do you really expect people to believe that load of malarkey?

All of that could've been done and kept everything close to the divers so they could be whisked away without incident.

    Shenanigans!

  6. Here's the real deal

Let's say for a moment that somebody had some issues with a tank or got injured down below, surfaced to get on the boat (a boat they paid form with their hard-earned money) only to find that there's no boat anywhere in sight. That's 30 minutes abandoned at sea.

All the "boat driver" had to do was send out a distress call informing the other boat which took 30 minutes (or more) to get there to bring a tow strap. Often do I see cars/motorbikes/trucks being towed by strap going down Beach Road, Second Road and Third Road.

There is a right thing to do and the wrong thing to do. In this case, leaving people abandoned under the water and surfaced for 30 minutes or more was the wrong thing to do.

    The owner is negligent.

    The "boat driver" is negligent.

The policy to abandon people at sea is negligent.

  7. I can understand accidentally leaving one or two behind.

But to 'deliberately' leave six divers behind is just plain unacceptable.

    There is no excuse.

The captain should face criminal charges for this.

Criminal charges, you mean like 500 baht fine?

I was thinking the same thing. 500 Baht fine for the "boat driver". 5,000 to 10,000 Baht fine to the people stranded for felonious touristing in need of help and in distress.

  8. You are not dealing with "the sharpest knives in the draw", intelligence, education all leave alot to be desired in many countries. People just blindly expect things to be the same wherever they go, they are not, and they dont stop to think about where they are and who they are actually dealing with.If they know what they are doing, if they are trained, if they have experience? Or is it just some local driven purely by money and has no clue as to the implications of his actions and unknowingly put lives in danger.

wow.. congratulations are in order! You've made what has to be the biggest "generalization" ever!! You just made a generalzitation about the whole World - well done!! "people just blindly expect things to be the same (except you of course, you're far too smart) wherever they go" etc.. and you know this how? You've questioned "the people"? because I don't remember you asking me about it.. If you read the full article you will see the couple researched reviews about the dive company for booking, what else should they have done, o wise one?

Agree with you Alwyn. No on expects every country to be the same and everybody knows that you have to try and be wary of differences and customs. But what's that got to do with this guys behavior? We are not talking about complaining about your food in a restaurant, he abandoned the divers in the sea for goodness sake. As Alwyn said, they researched the dive company. Unless you have a crystal ball this is all you can do.

Sharpest knives in the draw or not this "captain" will know what he did was wrong, so don't point the finger at the 6 divers and suggest they were naive. The captain should be up for criminal charges, absolutely no doubt and to be honest, if it were me and I ever saw him again I would have to have to seriously restrain myself from breaking his bloody jaw.

So, get real. No excuses, it was wrong, I guess you have been living here too long which is why your post is so skewed the wrong way.

I couldn't of said it better myself!

  9. Probably all too real because involving the police wouldn't make any sense if this was contrived. I will make a guess that the Russian was informed by the girl to be careful of her brother or husband. The cam makes perfect sense if he had prior knowledge of the visit. There is a viewer on the door so the Russian could have seen the Thai on his earlier visit. Those slaps are very real. Dialog is typical for an angry Thai with limited English ability. Gun replicas often look very real.

Doing nothing was probably the best response to the Thai idiot. Most of the readers would probably sh!t and p!ssed themselves had they been in the same situation, including the very brave macho keyboard warrior types here. Any other action by the Russian would not have much chance of survival if the gun was real.

Just can't understand why he didn't lock the door.

Because it's fake. It's a totally staged event.

  10. I was expecting the actor on his knees to turn around after the guy with the gun walked out the second time to turn around and say "live from New York, it's Saturday night!"

After perusing the comments of people asking if it were set up why would the guy allow the other guy to hit him so hard in the face.

Well, I've got news for you people. Some people, men and women alike actually enjoy that type of thing.

Are the police actually investigating this alleged attack? Did the Russian man really refuse an offer of cash before it goes to court? Where did this "new story" come from?

This whole thing looks like one big really terrible gradeschool drama class bad acting farce.

Perhaps the man with the gun is trying to get his own TV reality series?

  11. I find it hard to belief that the great USA is not even listed .... every day some idiot discharges his/her gun in a school or at a march, of flies a jet into a tall building or sings country and western songs....

What's singing Country and Western songs got to do with terrorism? Was johnny Cash, George Jones or Merle Haggard terrorists?

Has anyone got a sense of humour that possum could borrow for a bit?

And a sense of reality wouldn't hurt.

  12. Do you get a thrill from baiting people? If you do I suggest you check out a psychologist. I realized there's not that many psychologist in this country from what I've heard, but I'm sure psychotherapy would be what up your alley.

Not all people, you just come across as being a little bit fluffy.

but I'm sure psychotherapy would be what up your alley

It's such a sad state of affairs when a user of the net spends time making sure they spell the word 'psychotherapy' correctly and then falls at the last fence, never mind, you'll do better next time 3/10.

I really don't understand your low class dialect. What does fluffy mean?

  13. Over 20 years of "professional" level cover band experience. Isn't that deficiency?

And your contribution has been what?

I know you're baiting me into listing every project I've ever done, including live shows but I'm not taking the bait.

    You just did.

Do you get a thrill from baiting people? If you do I suggest you check out a psychologist. I realized there's not that many psychologist in this country from what I've heard, but I'm sure psychotherapy would be what up your alley.
