  1. Some months ago I recall the good general's wife talking about making it easier for foreign teachers to teach in Thailand something about a possible two year teaching visa.

I then read some time after that a Thai delegate visited the Philippines and discussed the possibilities of some 4000 Filipino teachers to come to Thailand.

Then I see this interesting news item.

I read Thai Visa a lot and all the above are news articles on Thai Visa.

My Thai daughter (grade 11) goes to a fairly prominent private high school in the north. When she comes home and says " I am so boozy." "Huh?" boozy is actually busy.

Sometimes she would even talk about sighrupp when I help her with her science homework. Sighrupp is actually syrup.

I'd ask her where she gets her mispronunciation problems from and she would tell me from my Filipino teachers and Thai teachers.

I teach her all the four English skills regularly hoping that this will deter any issues/problems that occur at school.

  2. Hi There,

I'd also like to know more info about this.

I read here on Thai visa some time ago that you could get a wp to 'help your wife' if she is a sole owner of a business (no problem there)The informationI said that you had to be married for two years or more (no problem there)

I recall that this is not well known as well from the information.

Obviously not a wage or anything like that just to help.

I'm interested to know if this is possible

  3. Have been happily married for almost a decade seriously no joke. clap2.gif

The first few years it was basically me controlling around 60 percent of my employment income and other income from my home country.

About five years ago she wanted and suggested to do what her older sister was doing with her Thai husband.

Her older sister controlled all and gave her husband a stip end per month for general living.

My wife is Chinese Thai and I really think this is where this thinking comes from.

I thought about it for a while and then agreed to do it.

I started receiving a monthly stip end for my general and daily living as was her sister's Thai husband.

At first it took me about a year to get use to but then realized I did not have to worry about anything.biggrin.png

All our financial needs direct in Thailand my wife deals with for our family business, business expenses etc, car bills etc etc. I support our daughters education via other financial means in my home country which my wife then pays the private high school every term. I also support the business from time to time if something has to be done as a new edition or what ever in the business.

I don't have to worry about a thing seriously facepalm.gif

My wife usually allocates my contract yearly work to a joint saving account. Some times it will be used for emergency business expenses if something stops working suddenly in the family business.

She tells me how much our business is bringing in monthly and how much we are saving.

I would see her dealing with all the cash a pile for this a pile for that a pile for savings etc etc etc etc.

She is my top Chinese Thai family accountant laugh.png A very different Chinese accountancy style compared to Western accounting methods.

That is why it took me a year to get use to it.

I talk with some farang on the odd occasion that I meet and get to know through yearly contract employment most think I am @@@##$$%^^&*!!!! Nuts.

But I have been happily married for almost a decade because of it. thumbsup.gif

  4. Thanks again and always such a fast reply.

I just remember you or Mario talking about this with me asking if I can obtain a WP with the multi o based on marriage visa previously

I am just interested to know what I have to produce for documents from my side.

I am sure there will be other employer documents as well.

This relaxes my brain from a lot of things especially from the annoying people that I am dealing with now

The previous WP I obtained on a single o marriage visa was very flawless and not difficult at all.

It was only a short work period time some months.

    Cheers

  5. I have a very current Multi 0 visa based on marriage which is current for another year and that is including the final 3 month stamp.

I recently did an in out border hop Mae Sai this month NO Problems at all normal.

I have some very uninformed people that I am currently dealing with at this stage concerning obtaining a work permit.

I have previously asked on Thaivisa about a WP via a multi o based on marriage and I was informed I think by admins Mario and Ubon Joe about obtaining a WP.

I even remember getting a work permit on a Single o visa based on marriage. A year or so ago.

The documents needed from memory were ALL pages of my passport copied, MARRIAGE CERT, and wife's id.just from memory.

It was almost similar to the documents needed for the actual visa.

Could someone fill me in regarding the documents as I do recall that if just say you don't pass in your Marriage Certificate then Labor Dept may think it might be a Retirement visa and may not issue a work permit.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Just dealing with uninformed annoying people right now.

  6. My passport is an Australian passport

This is a new passport issued from the Australian Embassy in BKK 2011

The expiry year of the passport is 2021

I have roughly 10 pages left in the passport. This is mainly due to doing a number of single non imm o visas around 2011/2012.

A couple of Questions for any Australians.

    1) Can you get extra pages added into a current valid passport at the Australian Embassy in Bkk.

    If so at what price.

    2) Would the Australian Embassy replace the current valid passport with another current valid passport.

(give or take a couple of pages left in the passport). If so at what price.

    Again passport valid until 2021.

Just wanting to know from anyone who has already experienced the above.

  7. For wym,

Did my PDC in Malanda Queensland Rene and Lorraine Van Raders Green Piece Permaculture Farm 1996.

    For Willyumi,

The mushroom farm sounds interesting I have seen the mushroom packs recently at a school market in your picture.

How much area do you you need? We have a four story townhouse with a semi enclosed half story roof area. There is power and water avalible in this area too. Very close to a market 2 minutes away.

also for wym's last post meeting deadlines is not a problem considering you have to meet mid term, end of term tests and points deadlines.

  8. Tutoring been there done that while full time teaching.

Students come and go and monthly income can be up or down depending on how many students you have for the month.

I know Tinglish very well from years of teaching it can be a piece of cake and then it can be frustrating getting the right word for the wrong word that was in the Tinglish writing piece. Hell had a comic book story that students were translating and it was one of the worst translations I have ever seen. The characters and plot were all over the place it took a couple of weeks to work it all out.

Besides looking at remote internet work other things that I do or am interested in are movies, keeping fish, permaculture, making 3d maps for a flight sim (no money in that all though people initially think so) it is just a 3d hobby and currently learning 3d modelling ( very beginnings with that)

Just interested in ways to earn around 1000 us a month nothing serious.

The teaching income in the north is as you are I'm sure aware quite low.

  9. I thought that General Topics would be a good place to post this topic as it would be seen more here than in the Teaching Forum.

Firstly, Over the next year I am wanting to do a transition from teaching to ?

My wife and family have a good solid business that they operate. It has been in operation for four years and it is quite successful. The average monthly earnings from it give us a comfortable lifestyle.

However, teaching over the years has provided extra income for business development, savings etc. I have had the odd term off and this is where a problem starts to occur.

Usually I am providing an income and other extra funds for family support, business support etc. However if I do have some time off occasionally then my wife starts to lose her face over time as I am not working and providing a monthly income. This is where finding something productive that I can do comes in to play.

I don't want to be a lounge around the home type of husband and don't do anything while they do all the work for the business.

Just recently I have been researching remote work on the internet. Yes there are a lot of scams out there and when you do type in review for a site you end up with complaints like " They sent me a lot of work but I never got paid." etc. Some sites can actually sound quite reasonable with lowish monthly incomes, no upfront fees and different methods of payment for the work done. Then again you always get complaints about that site etc.

I would be interested to make some extra cash over the internet. Not setting my sights to high.

Still researching the internet and avoiding scams and sites where you have to pay something up front I would like to know from readers if you have dealt with any legit sites that do pay you regularly and for what type of work.

I am mainly interested to do a transition out of teaching as to where I can still do something productive and get some extra cash for it.

If you are dealing with or have dealt with any legit sites I'd like to know.

Feel free to pm me if you don't want to put up here.

I am genuine about transitioning from teaching to something else.

I could probably get a work permit later via the business as the wife and I have a partnership.

  10. Seeing dead bodies for the first time twice

    1) Going to Nakhon si Thammarat for a teaching job back in 2006. The train stopped for a long time. My wife called me and said I was on the news. A pick up plowed into the train .She said go up and have a look.

    I saw two dead bodies.

    2) A while back give or take a couple of years where I live, I went to the local fish (pet) shop to get some blood worms for my fish. The BIB were pulling out a body from the moat. Everyone was having a good ol' look.

  11. This kind of depends on were I am working at the time

In the south it was yellow rice and brown coconut wrapped in banana leaves with coffee for every breakfast

In the north worked for a number of years at one place Kao Soi Ghai pretty easily every day for lunch.

Sometimes still go back to the same restaurant.

A tad a way from home fried chicken with rice and sauce

Now a good restaurant near where I work I have at least three meals of pasta a week.

  12. Sure David,

Would love to see full evidence on you tube.

Next time my wife says "He's done poo poo pee pee" "do the dogs bum" ( I do laugh so hard when she says thatlaugh.png )

i will even get her or sister to video it. 555

Yes I know a chihuahua is kind of an insult for the dog species in general.

Being my first dog I really wanted a larger dog like at least a Thai Ridge Back.

  13. Awesome jobs peoples laugh.png

Yes only occasionally for the maggots about 3 times over a few years I've had to do it.

You have a cold snap for some time than it heats up for a few days, an ugly sight.

Only if the worker is away that particular day.

Loved the dog on the grass pic but our dog no although he does leave a brown streak on the floor tiling from time to time

Thank Christ we do not have white shag carpet.

Judging from the above photo I think our little chihuahua couldn't do that with such small legs and head (brain).

Yes Of Course Come to Thailand meet and marry a Thai lass and wipe your dog's ass laugh.pngtongue.png

  14. Nearing 50 now

I never acquired the taste for it back as a teen in Canada then Australia.

Fellow aus friends thought I was either strange, weird or gay 'cause I didn't drink at much at all

i did have the odd spirits rum and coke but nothing heavy or severe and not a pub goer

Over here my wife really appreciates the fact that I don't drink. biggrin.png

I only have one drink on my birthday and that is that.

The night before our wedding my Thai brother in laws tried to get me to drink Laokow

Horrible crap it was I just had half of a shot glass of it. bah.gif

So not being a drinker my wife is very happy that I don't spend 300 baht extra a day on a couple of bottles of beer for the evening wink.png

  15. Well,

    This is lighthearted.

Please don't go posting about you need a work permit to do that 555 facepalm.gif

My worst couple of jobs that I have to are (only occasionally)

    1) Remove the garbage bag and clean out the kitchen garbage bins if a hot spell came on suddenly and your garbage bags and bins are teaming with maggots.

As well as clean the kitchen floor of escaped maggots ( they are hard to sweep up , they stick to the damn floor) (the kitchen is part of a business and we do have a worker that usually takes care of the garbage bags)

Some times if she's away, I have to do it especially if we have had a maggot attack!

    2) If our dog a long haired chihuahua does his business out side and he comes in all squishy and runny so to speak.

I have to wipe my dogs ass thoroughly on the occasion. (only if I am near by or up in the kitchen at the time).

So yes I admit I do wipe my dogs ass from time to time. biggrin.pngsmile.pnglaugh.pngclap2.gif

You know that Tinglish expression "Love me, love my dog"

Our dog is my first dog ever.

Never in my life I have had to do such a thing, had cats and fish back in Oz.

  16. Hi LaraC,

Sometimes just for fun I wear it around the house doing a Sargent Shultz impersonation

You know "I see nothing!" "I know nothing!" in his accent biggrin.png

It gives my wife a laugh and yes I did show her an episode of Hogans Heroes after the first few times
