One problem you might have thai banks do not like inactive accounts. The wife (Thai) and i had joint account of 25 thousand baht sitting in a savings account with S C B up in Udon. Letter sent to wifes thai address saying (some thing like)your account is inactive if you dont use this account we will start an admin charge of 1000 bt per month untill balance is under 1000 bt then close the account. This was after two or three years. I did know if you left 1000 bt or so sitting in an account they might well stick an admin charge on to close the account. Surprised they wanted to close a 25k account though, still you live and learn. So if you open lots of accounts and stick the pass books in the back of a cupboard for a few years you might get a shock.

I would say tight git mark, well you did ask. Sending money to support your daughter big deal. Wake up the young lady became your step daughter and your joint responsibility when you married her mum. You might think about thanking your inlaws for looking after your daughter, that way you might even gain some face.

VILLAGE GRIEF AS THREE DIE IN THAI TAXI CRASH
GARETH DAVIES
10:00 - 20 December 2005
The former captain of a West Wales rugby club has died with his thai wife and sister in a taxi horror crash while on holiday in Thailand.
Ex-trimsaran Rugby Club skipper Ken Ford and his thai wife Phalit, both aged 47, and his 42-year-old sister Violet Griffiths were on their way to Chiang mai airport for the journey home when the cab was in a head-on crash. Phalit's teenage daughter, a passenger in the cab, and the Thai driver were both seriously injured. Mr Ford, of Trilwm, Trimsaran, was a childhood friend of rugby legend Jonathan Davies, who is said to be devastated at news of the death.

Look into having a Foreign Currency Deposit account at your Thai bank. That way your money will sit in your thai bank in Sterling. You can then change it into thai bt,as and when you need it at the best rate.

GU22 As far as i know a visa will not start on the day of issue. On the day of the granting a visa, you will be giving a date by which time you must have started to use said visa. Date of entry into the U.K. will be the start of the visa. As in my wifes case from the date of visa granted, she was given six months in which time she had start to use her visa, that is arrive port of entry U.K. within six months. As the date given on a visa as to when you must start to use or lose your visa is not printed, but left blank for the officer to fill in, it might not be set in stone. So might not Janner's wife get the nine months or so that she needs, from issue day to use or loose day.?

Grant your bank must give you the choice to send Baht or Sterling. Send in sterling no UK bank will better your thai bank exchange rate. To make sure check on your thai bank web site.

You could look at the S.C.B site. They do Foreign Currency Deposit. The account would be in U.S dollars. You can withdraw in dollars or Baht. The only drawback is on a current account your min balance must be 2000 U.S at all times.

Think you will find that the visa starts on your wifes date of entry to U.K. Thats to say visia granted 9 June 2003. Visa activated 19 July 2003 visia end 19 July 2005. Think they are taking the #### should have returned the fee.

Dubstar your wife must have an (indefinite leave to remain in the U.k.) stamp in her Thai passport so no need for visa to return to the UK. Imho Thai pp the one to use. Rember to get this stamp put into your wifes new thai pp.

Guys you never ever use your water pipes as your earth. This is crazy. The last thing you want if you have an electrical fault is to have the fault current passing through your water system. As the girl in the shower found to her cost. The earth straps you find on water pipes are there to ground the pipe work should it become live. They are not used to earth the fixed wiring system or any electrical appliance.

Sorry should look things up before posting,
QUESTION I"m a thai woman married to a british man. If i should die how can i ensure under Thai law my properties would be inherited by my husband.
ANSWER You should make a will in which you name your husband as the executor of your will and list how you would like your assests to be inherited. You can provide that your husband can sell or rent the properties and recieve the revenue.
With few exceptions foreigners generally cannot own land. Hense your husband probably will not be able to do either.
However, by naming your husband as the executor of your will, in the event that you should die, your husband can apply to a court to be the appointed executor of your will and this will be registered on the back of the land title deeds
That will give him the right to lease, sell or do any thing else with the land as long as he complies with the instructions in your will.
From Issues and Answers Phuket Gazette.

Think im right in saying your wife can leave you the house / land in her will. If your wife dies then you have to inform the relevant authority? Who will then give you time (a year or so ) to dispose of any land ect, that normally you would not be allowed to own.
