  1. Talk it through with your girl friend before you get to interview you will not be in the room with her.

The danger is that they will ask leading questions and your girl friend will answer in a way she thinks will please them.Keep it simple.I am a full time student i have to come back to finish my course and pass my exams. If she has a start date for the new term so much the better. Do not over stay in the U.k. if you ask for seven days then she should travel back in that time. She will get a longer time stamped in her passport at heathrow but if she stays longer than she asked for at embassy in bangkok this can count against her when next applies for a visa.   :o

    Good luck Morgan.

  2. Go for it Jason i did backpacking years ago best years of my life. You have plenty of money to start only time will tell how things will pan out. My only advise is i think your talking to the wrong people you need to be with backpackers as soon as you hit thailand. There is a road in Bangkok which is known for backpackers cheap hotels ect. This is where you are going to get the best advise cheap travel, places to go. Can't remember the name of it but someone on this board will know. Also a web site for this road. Pattaya is not on the backpacker trail. Expat life in pattaya is totaly different from backpacking you might waste a lot of time and money finding that out. Go for it have a great time morgan. :o
  3. Have you tried webphones. My wife has been using a webphone for over a year now. She can keep in touch with her family and it's not that expensive. The family village has no land line, so we bought them a mobile the last time we were in Thai. The cost is 17pence per minute Thai land line---18 pence per minute Thai mobiles---8 pence per minute Bangkok land line. This service works from any country to any country. The web site for this service is  (www.callserve.com )
