  1. Hi, As part of sponsoring a Thai Stepchild into Australia (Perm Resident) the sponsor (me) has to get a police background check from any country I have spent 12+ months in in the last 10 years. Hence I need one from the Royal Thai Police, but I am not in Thailand. On the website below in the blue background, (sorry it copy paste like that and I cant seem to remove the blue) item #5 says that my finger prints need to be done in a Embassy or Consulate which is ages away interstate.

My Question is : Anyone know if it can be done by Aussie cops, the question is will the RTP allow QLD Police to do my prints on their form? On the Aust Gov Imm site, it says yes, if you scroll down to the bottom of this here.

    "Fingerprints
Fingerprints must be taken at a local police station or Thai consulate or embassy in your country of residence.
In Australia you may need to contact the relevant state police authority or the Australian Federal Police to obtain fingerprints as local police stations may not be able to provide inked copies."

Of note, these can be taken by my wife who also needs these for her application form the RTP and picked up or posted to her in Thailand, I am not worried about posting them from Oz

Here is the finger print form -- click.

and Here is the RTP site with more info if anyone is interested (future searches)

  2. I am looking for quotes for moving stuff to East Coast Oz.

Depending on cost up to a 20ft container.

Half container or maybe even just 10 m3

What we send depends on cost. Using Google I found folk here say Asian Tigers but they are expensive. Any other ideas ?

Any tips would be great. A life of Thailand has come to an abrupt end :( (well at least for a few years)

  4. I have not successfully been in there since they moved to Trendy Building, when we popped in once to ask a question like they encouraged in the old building on Sathon Road they would not let us in as we did not have an appointment and there was a several week wait just for that !!!

So, now trying to get another tourist visa for a Thai (several been issued before) can the Oz husband submit it on her behalf? I have been told over bar talk that they wont allow it now. I was told that I would be considered a messenger and refused entry to submit the application.

" No walk in applications will be accepted through a travel agent or messenger " http://www.vfsglobal.com/Australia/Thailand//how_to_apply.html

Can she walk in with it without an appointment ?

How does this high profit making show run now?

    Thanks.

  5. "The company would need 2 million baht of registered capital, and if you want a work permit the business would have to employ at least 4 Thai's, pay their social security payments" .

So a company is set up and owned by my misses and 4 inlaws are on the books who hang around all day annoying anyway scabbing money, this would just make it formal !!! What is this 2 mill baht requirement? I was told "in the bar" no one cares about it....... I don't subscribe to that point of view. Can anyone please explain it please ?
