You can't teach a non-native speaker to be a native speaker.

I was in Thailand recently, with my Thai wife, to sign a couple of documents so I have no claim on her little house and piece of farmland. I hadn't visited for 5 years and thought the fingerprinting was OTT. I won't be rushing back.

The Taiwanese are so reliable and trustworthy that they don't need a visa to visit the UK!

I'm a British native speaker of English with an MA in TEFL. I do a lot of academic proofreading for non-native speakers/teachers of English doing MAs, PhDs etc. Some of them are very good, some less so, but there's definitely an important role for native speakers, though they're not going to work for peanuts.

A German tourist overstays for a few days and spends more money so he's treated like a criminal?

Taiwan isn't mentioned, though it does of course have an excellent health system.

It has been alleged that some oxygen masks on Boeing aircraft do not deploy in an emergency. Worrying.

I have one on my fusebox and an extra plug-in one for the garden. Also remember Les Harvey (Stone The Crows).

I wonder what the parents have done or might do about this.

An overstay may be illegal, a person is not.

To wield a knife in a situation like that is totally disproportionate.

As for cars, you have more chance in say a Saab or Volvo than a little Fiat.

Does it matter whether she was 'pretty' or not? She was murdered.

It seems she was waitressing and helping to support her family who live in the north-east region, and maybe she was making some extra money too, but she didn't deserve this, no one does. She will be missed by her family and friends. May she RIP.

Chicken extract I don't think so, somewhere to nap makes sense.

Do people dance the can-can at filling stations in BKK?

Killed and wounded (you'd expect killed and injured) makes it sound like a war zone.

Scotland has the right idea: 'The Seat Belts on School Transport (Scotland) Bill was introduced in the Scottish Parliament by Gillian Martin MSP on 28 February 2017. The Bill would place a duty on every school authority to ensure that all services provided solely to transport school pupils to and from the establishments where they receive primary or secondary education use vehicles fitted with seat belts.'

5 minutes ago, RichardColeman said:If just say 10% of all black Africans coming to thailand commit crime and overstay visas, racial profiling I would say is justified
And you can prove that, can you?

The income rules are likely to be applied to EU citizens too if Brexit happens, it's not yet a done deal. Under current Surinder Singh rules they could live in any EU country ... except the UK. Theresa May doesn't like immigrants, courts or judges, Amber Rudd the same I think.

Borabeu or Borabue?
Mahasarkham or Mahasarakham?

I have a rescue Dalmatian that is scarred and very severely traumatised due to a vile rotter (Rottweiler) attack, she reacts very badly to other dogs and I don't think that will ever stop. A small child has no chance if one of those dogs turns nasty.
