  1. This was a great market - hope they find a new home.

As for those that think that destroying small business and modernising is the only way to go you need learn about cotemporary thought on town planning. Change and modernisation don't always give the most enjoyable experience. Singapore is, in my opinion, a wonderful place - for half a day, and then it is just a bore.

Precisely! Bangkok can beamed clean and efficient and charming -- and it will become boring like Singapore. The city needs to make a choice.

Being more like Singapore would be a good thing.

  2. Thanks guys .. Well i've been here since i was 20 and will be 31 in may it comes a time in life where you just get fed up of a place plus all the bs what comes with it i have also lived in Bangkok / Pattaya / Phuket .. just tired these days .. plus i'm not getting any younger ...

Exactly what are the driving factors behind your departure? Can you list a few?

  3. Why do anyone need a facebook-account?? :whistling: To share your pathetic lives with the rest of the world!

    What purpose does it serve?

nothing wrong with FB, if you use it properly,

I have been taking to past friends I havent seen in 25 years, and wouldnt have known how to get hold of them...so from that perspective its good, but documenting every facet of your life every day...yes a bit pathatic, but the worst one is people posting photos of what they are eating at that specfic minute...I mean who gives a F what ya eating, but then again this is not just restricted to FB, have seen this on TV as well...children I can understand doing it, but middle/old aged men... ....very stange to me

Actually, I do give F about what they are eating as I often tuck away the dishes and restaurants for future reference. Not ll of them obviously, but have found plenty of good options from the postings.

  4. "I can reach my home/resort/farm in 30 minutes of driving up winding mountain back topped roads."Sounds good. But hold on.How far do you have to go to get a can of beer when you run out? Or a fresh hot pizza when you're feeling peckish and dont want to cook? Or even a bowl of seafood noodle soup? And how long will it take you to get to hospital if one day you need to in a hurry? From my condo in 5 minutes I can walk to the beach, to 3 supermarkets, to at least 200 restaurants and other eating places of all types and nationalities and price ranges from 20B to 2000B per meal, and I can get on the direct air-con bus to BKK airport which will whisk me there in under 2 hours for 135B. And there are dozens of hospitals and clinics within a 10 minute drive. And unless I'm very much mistaken I'm still in Thailand. Do I hear you ask if it is real? It feels real enough to me and I suppose that's all that matters.

Sounds good. Where are you talking about?

  5. I am sure the Thai military needs to remain ever ready at the beckon call of the US or is this a 'comply' order or else? What ever happened to Utapao revamp in favour of the US 'weather balloons'?

What are you possibly bleating on about....Cobra Gold has been a joint military exercise for decades and at the invitation of Thailand. It includes Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, USA, Japan and Korea. Thailand and The US have been treaty allies since 1833 and routinely train together across different military platforms.

You nailed it. Good to see some posters actually know what they are talking about!
