  1. Mario,

Although my daughter is only 3, i will go straight to the to the amphur, with my gf and child, and make an attempt claiming fahterhood. For this, i want to be prepaired to explain exactly what i want, and of course submiting all the right documents.

What is the correct designation in thai of claiming the fatherhood? Eventually i expect to receive a document proving my fatherhood, what is the name of this document in thai?

I assume we need to submit a form, right? Does this form have a special code, like a "khor rohr"? Perhaps this form can be found on the net, so that we can have it prepared before going to the amphur?

We will bring passports, Id cards, birthcertificate. Something else?

I got the translation on some basic terminology, from member kriswillems:

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/718559-legal-terms/

    Thanks,

  2. Im only using the computer to read news on internet, send email. Nothing more, so i dont need any fancy stuff. And as i travel between thailand and europe 4 times a year i want a tiny one, but i need keyboard, so a tablet is not an option. And i wrote maximum 25 000TB, so wont mind if its cheaper,,,,,,,,,

  3. Hi

Im about to file a petition to the court on getting my rights as a father to my daughter.

What is the thai translation of the above?

And, how do you translate these terms:

    1. legal father

    2.legal process

    3.custody

    Thanks

  4. The I-mobiles might just be an option, are there any with "dual sim active" to be able to the 2 simcards at the same time, or are they all "dual standby"?

They are all dual active, in the IQ and I-Style ranges at least. Haven't seen any recent model dual sim Android phones which are not dual active. Dual standby seems to be a thing of the past, all though if anyone wants to correct that assumption they are welcome to.

I went to Fortune IT center and IT-city today asked around in 5-6 shops about this, they all said that I-mobiles do not have dual active, only dual standby, even the latest models. This means that when you are on standby, you can receive calls to either simcard, but once you use one of the simcard, the other is inactivated. Now, its not that you can trust the information you get in those shops to 100%, i certainly got misinformed before. But, they all said the same. The information on the I-mobile website is not of to much help, as they simply state that the phones are dual sim. Anyone knows where to find the proper information in this matter?

  5. Are there any dictionarys for offline use in the Samsung phones? I asked in the Samsung shop, they said the dictionarys are all for online use?? Sounds strange to me. The dictionary i have downloaded to my old Nokia phone works perfect for me, and not having to be connected to internet.

The I-mobiles might just be an option, are there any with "dual sim active" to be able to the 2 simcards at the same time, or are they all "dual standby"?

  6. One more thing about the dual sim. I must be able to use one simcard from europe, the other simcard will be thai. And need to be able to receive calls and messages from both simcards at the same time.

I had the chance to play with my daughters Galaxy Grand while on leave and was impressed by the dual SIM feature not having had a dual SIM phone for many years.

Either or both SIMS can be active at any time just by changing the phone settings (no reboot). You designate the master SIM for outgoing calls.

I see no reason it should not do all you want.

Looks like they've announced a budget version (4.3").

    http://tech2.in.com/news/smartphones/samsung-launches-galaxy-core-a-43inch-version-of-the-galaxy-grand/872318

I read the link about the budget version of Galaxy Grand, named Galaxy Core: It looks great. But it said "For the dual-SIM, Samsung says that the phone will soon get an update that would allow users access both SIM cards simultaneously"

Does Galaxy Grand give acess to use both simcards simultaneously?

  7. One more thing about the dual sim. I must be able to use one simcard from europe, the other simcard will be thai. And need to be able to receive calls and messages from both simcards at the same time.

  8. Looking for a Samsung or perhaps a Nokia smartphone, do not need a flashy one, but it must have this 3 fetures:

    1. dual sim(both connected at the same time)

    2. thai-english dictionary

    3. 5 mp camera

    Best option?

  9. More problems...........

A few years back i applied for a house registration in an appartment, but in the end the district office never approved the application. I totaly put this behind me and forgott about what went on in the process. But now i found this documents, with my name translated and sent to the ministry of interior to be certified, In this translation my name has yet another spelling, with 4 letters different from the one in the birth certificate. So, depending on who does the translation, you might get different spellings. I dont think there are any 100% rules about how foreign names should be translated, even the most skilled translaters would probably make translations slightly different, especially if the names are uncommon. But, one should of course get ones name translated only 1 single time, and stick with this translation. I always thought these translations did not really matter, that it was only for the sake of pronunciation, and that its the name in the passport that counts, But its more complicated than that.

I suppose the translation of my name sent to the ministry of interior is registerd permanently and cannot be changed, although i never had any house registration. Then, the translation of my name in the hospital documentation is wrong, and now it will be even more difficult to get the birth certificate changed. So the questions is, would it be possible to have the district office change the name in the birth certificate, althought its different from the hospital documents?

  10. As you might know, there is no english used in thai birth certificates. A foreign fathers name must be "translated" in to thai letters.

When my daughter was born in a bangkok hospital a year ago, my name was "translated" to thai for the hospital documentation, then it was sent to the district office to make the birth certificate. We picked up the birth certificate just a few days after. Unfortunately, we did not notice that there had been a misspelling of my last name until now. There is one extra letter added. Today, i went to the hospital to see their documentation, but there the spelling was correct. Obviously, the district office made the error. I had the staff at the hospital call the district office, they simply responded that "the parents should have noticed the error themselves when they picked up the certificate, and its now over a year ago, its to late". Simply, its our own fault and there is noting to do about it. They certainly have done nothing wrong.... So, not a good idea to go and argue with the "jao-naa-tii" at the district office, right? But i suppose there must be others have had similar experiences. Rather, it must be quite common with these "missinterpretations" in the birth certificates. Anybody got some advice?

  11. Hi, thanks for your reply!

Im looking for a house with a garden in a quiet village, do not want any condo/apartment, but a townhouse would be ok if there is a smal garden. Size about 100-200m2. I have been in Noraset village (next to Tesco), looked very nice and good standard. I also looked around in Lucky Home village on the opposite side, just a week ago. Neither of these 2 places had anything for rent at the moment. I havent bought a car yet, but i will do so when we have moved to nakorn, so the village can very well be located outside the center of the town. I will stay with my girlfriend and our kid. The kid is just 1 year old, but eventually we will have to find a school for her also. Of course, we hope to find a good school near by. Our plan is to move to nakorn in 3-6 months

I have only seen a few adds on internet, asking for 5000TB-10 000TB per month for a house. But if its a big new house with good standard i suppose it will go higher than that.
