I am so tired of reading stories that begin with "Thailand to be....". How about ending stories with "Thailand is..." I am guessing there are far fewer stories that end in the latter.

A conversation from Shakespeare's Hamlet comes to mind ... not sure why.
HAMLET
Madam, how like you this play?
QUEEN GERTRUDE
The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
HAMLET
O, but she'll keep her word. -
If only stupidity were an industry listed on the stock exchange - I would bet the bank on it, cause it is clearly on the rise!

Once you read the article you see that "lauds" is a bit of an exaggeration. When you read the article, it shows the US used words like "compliment", "commended", and "recognized". These words are a far cry from "lauds" which means to "praise" or "glorify".

With all this talk of ridding Thailand of corruption, I can't help but think that this is a missed opportunity to show some transparency. After all, the eyes of the world will be watching this trial, and based on how the case has been conducted so far, those eyes are coloured with skepticism and doubt. An effective, transparent judiciary should attempt to deliver fairness in legal processes and is probably the most powerful weapon against corruption. We can only hope that they get a fair trial.

Most of the countries featured on the newly unveiled "Friends of Thailand" bloc seem to be featured on the list. And let's not forget that we now have a stamp to highlight the close relationship between Thailand and number 2 on the list, North Korea. Stellar company!

Since yesterday? So warp speed has been attained!

The crack "joint operation" team also thought they spotted "<deleted>" shaped soap on sale. They then realized they were looking in a mirror.
-
Meanwhile the penises and breasts, that could probably use a bit of soap, remain on sale all over the city!

What happened to the "Australian" part of the story?

But when the officer issued his request to Jane—a black woman he might have assumed was Ghanaian or Nigerian, living and working in Thailand—and she responded with her black American accent, he immediately switched gears and insisted that it wasn’t a problem.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” the Thai officer said. “You can stay.”
What a load of crap!!
A Thai patrol police officer able to recognize an American accent??
I think our American friend just wants a little attention!!
My thoughts exactly. Since when did they become linguists?

Perhaps we should all quit our jobs, use FB more and help the economy. Or a better idea, let's just go to work, forget about our jobs and use FB more. But wait a minute, that's what happens now.

Rio 2016, perhaps? Go for Gold!

While this is a terrible thing, it is certainly not limited to Thailand. Just a few months ago a teen in Britain was arrested for raping a 91 year old woman. No matter the age of the victim, rape is an act of violence.

Could I see the wine list please?

What is the point of having laws? They might as well hang signs in front of all Thai jails stating "NO VACANCY"

Every year it is the same, and every year the authorities feign surprise by the storms and rain. Rather than improve infrastructure, they would rather blame the thunder and lightening. As soon as rain hits the eastern seaboard, the lights go out - this has been the same for years. More condos are built, but the level of infrastructure remains as it was 20 years ago.
Bringing happiness and blackouts to Thailand!

Perhaps TAT should set up an Office in Antarctica to attract quality tourists to visit the Kingdom. Penguins flock, don't they?
