After a five hour wait, and a lot of questions asked our applications were accepted. We witnessed how, many were refused and asked to apply in their own country. Our tip is, take items such as work permit and a letter from your landlord to certify that you live at the address. If you are on a tourist visa, do not waste your time in the que. I watched at least five who went empty.

The Russian Embassy in Bangkok is empowered to issue Russian visas (all types except transit visas) only to foreigners who hold a Thai residence certificate or who have been granted permission to stay in Thailand continuously over 90 days.

We are residing in Thailand since August 2013 and our stay ends in July.(we have a B and O Visa valid till the 31st of July 2015) When I called the Embassy yesterday, I was told that I need to have a visa for Thailand valid for over 90 days.

I married a South African in Las Vegas as nowhere else in the world the authorities were willing to recognize even one document without the SA high court validating them. Therefore, to be on the safe side get all what you need certified the way the Thai authorities want it. I did a lot of similar projects while living in Germany to help people with different disabilities from remote villages of Sri Lanka. Almost all units were taken by friends travelling to Sri Lanka as personal items. Usually, no questions are asked at check-in.

My tip for the transport is that you should approach the Airlines. My experiences were fairly positive.The best bet is to speak to the area manager of Thai Airways.Show them the aspect of publicity as well.

I once had to transport a wheelchair to Namibia from Frankfurt and Namibian Airlines refused to transport it free and asked for 250$US. Fortunately I was going myself.

I bought a car Battery the other day for 3900 bt. One cheap Tire for a Corolla is over 2000 Bt. The list can go on.....For the ones who own a car in Thailand will understand Taxi owners and drivers when they ask for more.

Almost all in this Forum have steady incomes over 50 thousand / monthly.Do you know that an average Taxi driver takes not more than 15 to 17 thousand home? I am not defending the Taxi owners plea, but .showing how arrogant and selfish some of the comments here are.

What is your argument? You got to see it from the drivers point of view. He is cheating your friend for a reason. He is one who knows no other way out to feed his family back home. Have you visited a Taxi drivers family? I have. I am 62 and have traveled the world more than most of you here. If you want to be respected in Thailand, you got to earn it like in your home country.Like in all societies, there are a few black sheep in Thailand too.

If the tone is right when you ask the driver to use the meter, you will never have a problem. It's the arrogance that gets you into trouble. In 19 months of living in Thailand, I have used Suvarnabhumi Taxis at least 25 times without one single problem. How come? Rethink before you write rubbish!

It was a few weeks ago, when I went for my O Visa extension that the Thai Immigration wanted my marraige certificate from Las Vegas legalized. Fortunately, I applied for an Apostille in LV, which is to say that the Marraige certificate is legal. The Thais wanted both these documents legalized. I got that done by a Thai Lawyer and no more questions were asked.

In your case, why dont you apply for the Apostille from here and they usually post it to any US address, from where you get it sent to Thailand?

For a small fee any dealer will attend to the paper work. It s all in Thai.I had my scooter transfer done with all fees for 1000bt. No headaches and got back the green book after 6 weeks.

Regarding your scooter insurance, you need that paper which is available at the technical check places.In Bangkok its all in one place close to the MoChit BTS. If you have the time do it yourself.

I too had missed paying my car tax in Nov.2014 and appeared at the drive through counter a few days ago and was issued the new paper without questions till Nov.2015

My step daughter who has an EU Passport went to Sri Lanka in Febr. without knowing the Resident Visa rule. She handed in the application for a triple entry tourist visa. The guy at the counter looked at the application and told her she is not a resident of Sri Lanka. Then my Step daughter calmly and friendly explained that she will be spending two months in SL and going back to her mother who has a work permit in Thailand. All of the Mothers documets were attached to the application.

After some discussion in the back room and contacting Bangkok she was given the triple entry visa and the correct amount was also paid. It will be a risk to fly out solely for the visa.

I personally would say, if you have no back to back visas on your passport and look like a genuine tourist, you have a good chance.

The best was the food....For one hundred Baht, a full Rice and Curry very close to mothers food, enough for two is what you do not get in any Thai restaurant. If you are a mild food eater, you can ask for less spicy items.

I would go back as often as I can. Try the traditional Caramel Pudding with Juggery and Coconut cream called Vatalappan. That will take the burning away after the meal.

It is a right turn when you walk out of Pantip Mall, cross over at the next bridge, walk another 100 yards in the same direction, turn left at the big crossing, use the bridge to cross to the other side and opposite the huge Indra hotel is Soi 4. As you walk in you cannot miss it on the left.

Someone doing such a trip will inquire and get all Visas maps etc. and then leave.

I got some of my Visas on the way in major cities like Ankara and Kabul.

The most important is to get the Carnet de Passage for the vehicle. Thats what lets you bring in the vehicle to the country without having to pay customs duty. You cannot sell the car as you have it stamped in your passport as well.

I admire the Chinese couple for doing the trip. Long ago in 1975 and 1978 I have done the London Colombo trip twice which took me three weeks of driving to cover 14 thousand km. Once you have your visas maps and the Carnet (Customs document) together,you just hit the road. London, Hamburg Salzburg,Zagreb, Belgrade, Sofia Istanbul, Ankara Tabriz, Teheran,Kabul, Lahore Amritsar,Delhi Agra,Poona Bangalore,and Rameswaram where the Ferry was waiting for me in South India. In 75 I drove a 1973 VW 1300 and in 78 a Ford Transit Diesel crew bus. Both vehicles got to Sri Lanka in one piece.

Its not the British accent that she is worried about, but not to be labeled as south African the moment she speaks three words.She still talks about Robots when she means Traffic lights.
