    Carrefour Stores Change Name To Big C Extra

    I PREFER TO SHOP IN RIMPING CHIANG MAI NOW!

    Big C is still Big C regardless of the name on the building. The selections are already changing and shows no signs of letting up. I want my CA FOO! Time to shop at Villa and Foodland I suppose.

    Maybe so, but I was in the Pattaya Carrefour/Big C Extra store last week, and many of the cheese and butter products are/have been replaced by French products branded Casino. Which I believe is the parent company of Big C. Same same but different!

    Groupe CASINO owns Big C ,its a huge retail company in France and usually not bad quality compare with some other brand names. The product under Casino will be equal to those offered from Carrefour as usually it comes from the same producers. ;)

    I Saw A Rat

    I just saw a rat in the "Carrefour" the other day, disapearing under bags of rice.

    They are everywhere and no way to control them. Always a step ahead of the humans, like the insects.

    The King'S Speech

    I have seen the movie a month ago, great movie, but at the end when the king was giving speech about war with Germany, there was this background music by German composer Beethoven's Symphony no.7, which I found it very strange since England has so many great composers. I am puzzle at why the movie's maker chose German Composer over British composer, after all this is for the king of England not the Kaiser of Germany.

    ...because the royal families were related for a long time and the best composers worldwide were the german genius like beethoven, bach, schubert, wagner und the rest.

    Fake Hilltribe Honey

    I've bought 'honey' from the tourist trap on top of Doi Pui. It tasted like sugar syrup to me.

    I've also bought honey from the Saturday walking street. That was definitely honey.

    The 'honey' from Doi Pui went in coffee. The honey from the Saturday walking street went on toast. I'm still seeking the hilltribe honey that goes well in bed.....

    Mirror Cutting Shop, For Custom Size Mirror

    go to Chiangmai Gate . on the inner Road . drive along the traffic . just passing the Chiangmai Gate ( should be less then 500-800 meter after chiangmai gate ) there is a Glass Shop and framing Shop just after a small clinic . on the Left . along the Road . i got my extra Large Mirror there . and there did a great frame job . all at very good price . if you need a map let me know .

    It's a big hassle to get to the 4th floor - because the airport plaza shopping center opens only at 1100h. stair, security, bad old lifts.....I told the WOW manager Christina...a christian I believe...the have a lift for the WOW only.

    I got a good deal after some hard bargaining, 1000 baht a months. however i used the daily morning yoga session but they turn the air con off and later for the meditation turn on ice-cold again! my complaints were ignored!

    I looked at dam_n near every gym because I like a "nice gym"...easily the best in CM is California wow in the airport plaza...

    Last year I read a thread here about CM gyms but I found the ones each person mentioned I didnt like and I looked at them all

    of course, if you are looking for cheap its not cali wow...I paid nearly 5ish.k bhat for 3 months...last year in bkk i got a month for 1800bhat

    now before the mall opens you need to use service entrance and lift to 4th floor which I had to figure out the hard way waiting for mall to open and seeing people had been working out:(

    it's clean, has alot of cardio and pretty nice free weights, as well as many machines, yoda, locker rooms group exercise

    They will start high the shorter your stay...I wouldnt expect to get less than 1800 for a month...this is without towel service...but if you like to negoitaite, which i don't so I do the dance a bit then when I hear what I call a fair price i just do it

    as a whole, after 8 months on 2 trips to thaialnd,,,,the gym or decent fitness is way over priced compare to the US anyway...but for me I have to like the gym to motivate myself to workout

    Many farang w/o there, many thai too but sometimes I wonder if there is a thai price and a farang price

    I paid 4k bhat in BKK for this sweet gym and pool at a hotel....but that was way to pricey even for my tastes...but then again I paid 22k for rent my first visit and now about 5k so you live and learn...

    We get mostly American Programms, but we are Europeans. We want quality programms.

    Previously I had Dynasat in Chiang Rai which worked well, was cheap and had the important programmes.

    Then I live in the HillsideCondo, Ch.Mai and had cable TV. Better programmes here too!

    But now I got my house 25 km outside Chiang Mai…and no more cable!

    I am also a retired man living outside chiang mai. I am driving an older xrv750 honda and prefer light enduro trips on metal/gravel roads. November is a good time to tour. Prefer two day tours like pai, mae hong song or doi ithanon (highest mountain) for off road the kawa klx250 is probably more suitable, you can get it from mr.mechanic for about 800 baht a day.
