  1. You could apply for a new extension of stay (it is not a visa) if you have a work permit application approval letter. Your existing extension would have to canceled to apply for the extension.
You cannot apply for a non-b visa here unless you are on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry.

    Ok thanks for replying.

I went to the Labour Department today and i was told that i need to cancel my current work permit then get an extension of stay first before applying for a new work permit. I can’t get a new work permit on my current extension of stay because it was issued in the name of my previous employer.

So as i understand it, the steps are:

    1. Cancel the current work permit and extension of stay.

    2. apply for a new work permit then get an extension of stay.

I did this last time , it went well except that i have to pay for over stay because my visa expires the same day i cancel my work permit.

  2. You cannot have a new work permit issued until the existing one is canceled. You can apply for a work permit with supporting documents from your new employer and then it will be issued when the existing one is cancelled.

You will need a termination to letter to cancel you extension of stay (it is not a visa). You can go to immigration a few day before the date on the letter and they post date the cancellation to that date. Then you would have to leave the country on or before the cancellation date.

Your current employer can cancel you work permit if you sign a power of attorney for them to do it.

I can’t get a new visa here without leaving the country? i have documents for new visa and work permit already.

  3. Just a quick update. i just came back from Labour department and i couldn’t get a new work permit without cancelling the first one. so i practically wasted my day there. What is the best way to cancel a work permit and a visa then getting a new one?

  4. The new work permit can be applied for without your current work permit being canceled. You would apply for a new extension using a work permit application approval letter from the Labor Ministry and then after it issued your new work permit would be issued after the old is canceled.

Morning there! Do you happen to have a link to the latest Work Permit form for first time applicants? They always change the form so i’m not sure. Thanks in advance

  5. If you had a 90 day visa entry you could apply for a new work permit and have it issued. If on an extension of stay you have to leave the country to get a tourist visa or visa exempt entry and then apply for a work permit to get a application approval letter to get a new non-b visa.

If on an extension of stay and had a new job it would be possible for your new employer to apply for the work permit and then have your current extension canceled and apply for a new extension using documents from them and then cancel your current work permit so that the new one could be canceled.

    Thanks for the quick response.

I’m currently using a 1 year extension of stay but i’ll be switching jobs. so. i thought i’ll have to cancel my current work permit before obtaining a new work permit. The have the documents for a new work permit and visa already

  6. It would do no good to show both passports other than confusing the officer. They would not use anything in the other passport for entry to the country since you would be showing 2 valid passports from different countries.
The only time both passports can be used is if a new passport is issued and the old cancelled one from the same country has a valid visa or re-entry permit in it.

Thank you. i understand now and i appreciate your help.
  7. You cannot use both passports if you are already in the country.

To change to a different passport you would have to leave and re-enter the country by air to use the 2nd passport.

Thank you so much for your answer . When re-entering the country after leaving by air, i have to present both passports to the immigration at the airport on arrival, right?

  8. If you're a dual citizen but have always used one passport and just started considering using both. My questions are:

    1. is it possible to use both passports in the same country? if yes, how do you start using both? note that the current Non-B visa is on the passport that is in use, the other passport is blank.

    2. If both passports can be used at the same time, how does it work in terms of entering and exiting Thailand?

Thanks for your answers in advance.

  9. Op, the school had plenty of time to process the needed documents. You should tell him/her that they might want to see a police clearance as well.

But you can't blame the school alone, there are so many websites where your friend would have gotten the right information.

It's nice to have friends, but please allow me this question: Why are you asking for your friend?

Can't he use computers, or can't he/she be bothered with such things? Good to have a friend like you.

I'm asking for him because he's new here. He can use computers and mobile phones but I thought it would be faster for me to just ask here. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it
  10. my friend is using a Non-B visa and the school is processing his documents so that he can go and apply for the 1 year visa extension but his documents are not ready yet and he's worried that they won't be ready on time because he visa will expire on August 18. so here is his question: Can he get a 7 days visa extension to give him more time for his documents to be ready or he has to leave the country and apply for a new document? Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  11. I've been working here for 5 years and changed school twice already which means that I've received teacher's license waiver twice already. I just finished the diploma for education course and I'm thinking to go and apply for the 5 years license, although I still have 1 year left on my current waiver. Thanks for clarifying the thainess course. I was worried about that, thought it's something new because I just read about it last week.

  12. The rules are still -

    - being older than 20 years

    - degree in education or equivalent

    - Thai Language, Culture and Ethics course certificate

Thank you for replying. I know about those you mentioned above but I'm asking about the new thainess course. I read about it somewhere but I'm not sure if they will ask for it now when I apply
