  1. been lately bussy with other things so i have to apologize for my promises to keep you updated.

wow jingjoe, goodluck with all your panels. Great. Keep us updated pls.

like @muhendis im very interested in batteries. Now im also interested in small capacity batteries especially the 18650 batteries.

i think i can do my inside house lighting with 18650 type of batteries. Made in the mean time my own powerbank(s) and hope to be able to charge a 18650 with (salt)water soon.

example of my testing, see pict. When fully charged the usb 5watt led lamp burns more than 3 hours. How about if i use 3-4 in paralell...... Charging done by 10wp panel with step down module and 6v panel 3wp.

  2. and im convinced that instead or petroleum lamps a package like this is enough for for example a bedroom of many village houses without a mercedes in front of their door and also for many (bed)rooms in houses in a small village like pattaya. A reading lamp, a lightbulb and a fan. To charge with a small solar panel is easy. To charge the powerbank(s) with waterbatteries it will be a challange.

  3. you can make jokes about usb gadgets and perhaps look down at it but im content with it. Will use as much as possible like as per attached pict.

For further experimenting with water batteries i still do not have time till now, too bussy with other things but i think its possible to feed some usb gadgets. If its ready i sure will keep you informed.

  4. @naam,

You find it cheap workmanship but i think this worker deseves a thumpUp.

Last 2.5 weeks he worked all alone, bricks, plumbing, plastering and tiles. Finishing touch begins. When its ready perhaps it can compete with a lot of houses in pattaya ????

Ordered some parts voor the planned lamps. Keep you informed of this planned water powered lamps for this small new unit

  5. Installing tiles in a bathroom/shower cabin (1x1m) and yesterday late in the afternoon heavy rain and dark. Worker asked for a lamp.

Tested another usb lamp and asked the worker if its bright enough. He answered that its brighter than a petroleum lamp.

The battery i used was weak (under 1v) and it seems that the stepup module did not output to 4-5v. Must remark that i did not solder the wires. Just quickly tied it up.

Its now time to concentrate how i can charge a 1.2v aa rechargeable battery with a water battery.

  6. And @naam, my shed nearly finished and roof will be covered totally later with solar panels. Just a village style humble shed but its more cheaper if i did finish it totally with bricks only. BUT, forbidden to build such in your moo-bahn??

Hi Guys. haven't been following the latest here for many days and smiled at the friendly banter happening. Means you are all well. smile.png

Also smiled at the tricks that cameras can do. e.g. just look at the leaning walls in George's new extensions. What kind of liquid lunches do you give them George. rolleyes.gif

looking at the "more cheaper" workmanship i think George serves his labourers a mixture of battery acid adulterated with denaturated spirit. laugh.png

This worker was the past week all alone and did finish the tiles and plastered rather thick some walls. Indonesian way of building walls ???

Few more days to go its time to concentrate for the water powered lamps for this small unit.

  8. @muhendis,

Interesting indeed. There are other examples using graphene with similar results as:

Overall, have been surprised how much these cells behave like Ultracapacitors in terms of both charge rate and then cutoff. I am beginning to wonder if a "hybrid" between the two technologies may be possible?

I sure will try later. First im experimenting with (water) batteries cause these do not need charging but refreshing electrolyte and/or replacing electrodes.

Sorry, dont know what you mean. Can you paste a part of the pict like @naam did before?

And @naam, yes you r right. Labor here is very cheap. About 11usd per day per worker.

Cheap labor or not, im satisfied ? and already had few storms and its still standing and the roofs not blown off ???

Roof of a carport of one of my nabor did fly about 30meters (3m high) and luckily it hit electric cables otherwise it flew into the big office behind our complex ???

On topic now. Been rather bussy with other things so still not finish the def setup of my waterbattery. Keep you informed.

  10. @muendis,

Is the lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO 4) battery MUCH more expensive than your above setup?? Considering this according to wikipedia:

◾100% DOD cycle life (number of cycles to 80% of original capacity) = 2,000-7,000

◾10% DOD cycle life (number of cycles to 80% of original capacity) > 10,000

  11. Someone gave me an old ups (sealed) lead accid battery, not a vrla.

Very easy to clip it open and the rubber on top of each cell is also easy to open, not glued.

I am wondering if i now have a fla???? Other assumption: If i buy a new one and clip it open do i have a fla???

I was not able to do this with a vrla.

Added:vrla is usually much more expensive

  12. That religion is irrelevant to be a good leader proves the popular moslim mayor of Rotterdam. His colleques ask him to be the leader of the Dutch labor party.

It thus can happen that if the Dutch labor party will win the next election that mr. Abutaleb will be the prime minister of The Netherlands ??

Your CL0117 based joule-thief is going to be hard to beat.

For some leds only for sure. For 5v 7watt bulbs i think i have to find other ways like that stepup module or make some adjustments to this joule thief.

I have also a 5v 3watt led(s) and with this weak battery it burns but very weak unlike using the stepup module.

Only 4-5 leds like the pict the joule thief is perfect for using it with 1.2v battery. I shall make a sleeping/night lamp with this joule thief ??

  14. Using a usb stepup module:

Few days ago ive received the ordered usb stepup module, as from 0.9v to 5v.

Just tested with a weak aa battery (1.1v) and im able to lightup my 7watt usb bulb and the usb fan is also working.

How about if i charge a 1.2v rehargeable battery with my diy water batteries. I then accomplish my first goal and dont have to worry about joule thiefs. Or is a joule thief more efficient (longer discharge time)?? This i dont know.

If i make a setup like my previous post i can run my fan and lightup a bulb simultaniously. Instead of using 3.7v batteries i will use 1.2 rechargeable batteries as a start (charge with diy cells and solar) ?

Under 1usd such a stepup module incl chargemodule. Amazing.

  15. Before im becoming brain dead because of the very very loud speakers here of the mosques with the same tune shouting for their "allah" nearly the whole day and night cause of the end of fasting i better try to learn sommething from boring youtube.

This is very handy and can be very cheap as a low power source which you can charge from 2 different sources simultaniously, for example solar + water battery.

Also you can charge and discharge at the same time. Such powerbank is very cheap and to clip it open just use a tiny screwdriver. Bye 2 and make this :)

Battery capacity is up to you. Easy to replace with higher(est) amps.

You can connect two lamps, charge 2 hp's etc... (while charging)
