5 knots is the maximum speed in the channel, all boats are going at least 20 knots. I had a group of Korean sailors on a 3 week training, they went out once, they got so scared they never did it again

What they refer to as EU standards are actually ISO standards, which stands for INTERNATIONAL Standard Organisation. These standards are written an approved by countries all over the world, how many depends on the number of countries which are participating members in the specific technical committee. For example TC188 for small craft comprise of 23 countries out of which 7 are EU members which means a majority of 16 countries are NOT EU members. Once an ISO standard is accepted by all participating countries it passes again trough a voting process in all the countries separately. When the vote is positive the standard is accepted as a national standard e.g DIN for Germany, AINSI for the US, AS for Australia, BS for the UK etc. Likewise the EU review (again) the process for acceptance of the standard and once accepted the Standard is published in the European Gazette, we call this process harmonisation and the ISO standard can now be called EN Standard. The UK, same as other participating countries can stop or ratify a standard at ISO level at BS level and at EN level (not anymore) , they
had full power to control. Now let's take a case of a big UK yacht manufacturer such as Princess who build their yachts according to ISO standards. At the time being to ISO standards, EN standards and BS standards as these 3 documents are 100% identical. The yachts are CE certified according EN standards and can freely be sold throughout the EU by having the boat certified once. The UK will remain member of ISO and will continue to vote on ISO standards. They can, but already could before, change parts of the ISO standard before acceptance as BS standard. This would mean that the yacht builder now has to build two different kinds of boats, one for Europe and the rest of the world and one for the UK. He will now also need a certificate for the EU and a certificate for the UK and will have to pay for both But the UK will now "take back control," which they always had. Great progress.

Everything sounds different when we use the proper word for our status, not guests (we were no invited), not expats (most have not been sent by a company for a short work assignment) but the only correct word: IMMIGRANTS, which is a dirty word I know but why would immigrants here be treated differently than Thai immigrants in Europe or Mexicans in the US?

Thank you for your efforts. ????

But when is a foreigner considered an expat? After 5, 10, or 15 years?
an expat is according to Cambridge Dictionary: someone who does not live in their own country
A Mexican, Hondurian, Cuban in the US, a Moroccan, Syrian, Libyan in Europe, are thus all expats but for some strange reasons we Westerners like to call ourselves expat while we name a Mexican, Libyan, Moroccan, Myanmar, foreigners, immigrants, etc but certainly not expats.

Can be done online
yes, so you would think that it is easy enough for the landlord to do. However he is still to lazy to do that and although it is his duty, I am the one that gets fined. Note it is only in Thai online, which is why I can't do it myself.

Take care Kev.

Yes it was in Phuket :
3.3 In case of notifying online via www.immigration.go.th, the notifier has to register to receive user name and password to login the system via registered email. Then login to the notification system and record alien information into the system.

Last time I went with my house lord (representative) and they told him that he could do it online. Note that the house lord is normally required to do your 24 hours address registration. He is having fun as I travel a lot for work I think the poor guy will have to hire a secretary just for me. Yes if they don't do it you get fined, so I make sure to keep a copy of the mail I send him.

You are getting ripped off on the visa and work permit renewal.
Salary tax depends on personal circumstances: married, children, ... create a lot of deductibles
Your social insurance yearly fees are a joke.
AVG stands for Average.
-
Cost of yearly Visa renewal: 25000 B
Cost of yearly work permit renewal: 15000 B
Cost of Auditing: 15000 B
Salary Tax (per year): 30000 B (min. avg)
Cost of Social insurance: 78000 B (min, avg)
Social insurance yearly fees: 3600 B
Agent fees: 1500 B
and a few other minor costs
Thus a minimum of 168100 B to be allowed to provide jobs in Thailand

If they are called EXPAT it is because they have been relocated by their multinational company thus you know the answer. All the others are immigrants.

50,700 fishing boats makes 22,7 boats per square km of Thai territorial waters !!! Understand why they fish illegally in other countries waters.
Easy to track by AIS, out of territorial waters FINE, AIS off: FINE and remember everybody can check the AIS traffic on sites such as https://www.marinetraffic.com/ Don't look for problems look for solutions.

Automatic Identification System required on all foreign vessel, why do you think this is?

and what life jacket will they be, what you find here in the store is a joke. Better inspect the boats and ensure they are not floating coffins.

Another proof that dead penalty has absolutely NO effect.

Anybody ever tried to import a decent marine automatic fire extinguisher to Thailand? (almost) mission impossible, this while they are no Thai alternatives. Another day, another boating acccident.

Another yacht show? How many do you want?
http://oceanmarinapattayaboatshow.com/

just get easy registration for yachts, let foreign yachts (and crew) for 6 months in the country without trouble and collect the money flowing in. It is that easy.

If you have the money a Thai Elite 5 year PE visa that give unlimited one year entries could be an option. Just pay 500k baht for the 5 year option.
I'll be in a similar situation soon, and whilst 500k up-front can be hard to get, the effective cost of 100k/year for peace and mind is looking more and more appealing.
If I recall the "PE" is actually better than it used to be, in that it now grants you a full one year extension of stay - i.e. no trips to immigration every 3 months? Seriously sounds more appealing every time I think about it.
But what guarantees that the next governement or the next general does not decide to cancel these Elite Visa without refund?

I'm sure this is good for all these eager Thai language students...they should complete their courses in half the time and then return home.
In most countries learning the language is a requirement to stay in the country. In Thailand has soon as you know the language you are kicked out.
Having learned a language only used in one country where you are not welcome anymore is not really attractive.

Or just declare that they are more yachts in Pukhet everybody knows that. The only other main marina is Ocean Marina Yacht Club Jomtien Pattaya which is obviously less than the 4 marina in Phuket. Unless there is a marina in Chiang Mai of which I am not aware.
