  1. So within this year I am moving my family to Sweden. Probably within 3 months. So ofcourse we didn't renew our kids 1 year insurance policy on a monthly plan because Bupa insisted it is only a payment plan for a 1 year policy and we would have to pay all 12 months. I do not wanna be stuck paying after we relocate. I've been searching everywhere with no success. Are there really no companies able to offer a 3 or 6 month plan for my kids?

  2. Like I said I was not aware they didnt have the manual here. They had it for my WRX so can't see why they don't for the other cars. Oh and at 3,2 million baht I think my WRX was a pretty great deal since any equivilant car here with 300hp is atleast 5-6 million.

Wrx its some special not for all.

    i had 2004 wrx sti.

so its not be perfect car for evry day. my body evry time tired when drive on long distantion. at same time i buy 530 BMW. So it be more nice for evry day drive.. and for long distantion.

but i still love my STi.

Forester and legacy it litle be another thinks..

on manual turbo forester can be fun car, but still comfort drive ..

    and one thinks

Japan Brand in spec show asseleration with best thinks..

2012 frorester forester turbo with auto trans can be on factory spec asseleration if only drivers inside and start with two pedal( it not good for trasmission, but some times canbiggrin.png )

    PS

now i remember all my subaru.. i love it..

need think about turbo forester.. if new car buy it good choice i guess.

Yeah its just my toy. My wife doesn't even allow me to drive the kids in it. Says its too fast and uncomfortable. When the family comes along we take the Everest which has "ok" handling for what is basically a pick up.

  3. Subaru has been offering more bang for your buck than other Japanese cars for quite some time now. Most Thais are just too brainwashed by Toyota and Honda too know it. It is true there will be far less service places but unless you live in the far North or far South I personally don't see the problem. Thailand is not that big of a country size wise.

XV = same price as HRV but behind on almost everything

Forrester = same price as X-trail/cx5/crv/captiva yet behind in almost everything

The Thai version of subaru isnt "bang for your buck" it's just banking on his outside reputation.

You must value different things in a car then because the Forester beats the pants of all the cars you mentioned in everything that matters to me. It has better handling, tighter manual gearbox, tighter suspension and the list goes on.

Oh and listing the CRV?! Lol have you not seen all the reports of the 4 wheel drive completely malfunctioning in cold conditions? (icy nordic climate). It was fixed for these markets but I doubt the versions here received the same lovin.

Sorry bro but i live in Thailand, im not in a western country fantasizing about owning a car in thailand.

Your non-existing manual gearbox and icy nordic climate has nothing to do with a thai car. The thai spec subaru's are worthless for their price. Forester @ 1mb and XV @ 800k would be good

There is no manual forester here. Just the cvt. Enjoy tongue.png Has the forester got 6 airbags too? edit..the forester has 7 airbags but no rear curtain airbags for those passengers.

Oh was not aware of this. Assumed they sold the manual here since they sell it for the WRX which is the car I bought for my fun ride.

  7. Why does this come up so much. Doesn't anyone on this board have social security or insurance. What's the deal. If I as the OP writes "lost my job" I would have no need to live on savings as my company would have to pay a years salary as per the contract, Then I would get 80% of my salary for a year from insurance, then if I still didn't find a new job I could go on unemployment benefits for a year. It amazes me what crappy contracts alot of foreigners here are on.

  8. some malls have security at some entrances while others entrances have none. i have never seen terminal 21 check any bags despite many beeps. why have security if it is meaningless?

Don't know if its been covered or not yet since I was too lazy to read the whole thread but most security personnel will learn the different "beeps" after awhile. Trust me if you walked through the metal detector with something like a firearm you would hear a much louder and longer beep than the "normal" short beep you hear from peoples watches and belt buckles etc.

  9. So at the moment there is a "motor show" going on at our local shopping mall. So far 461 photos from the event has been posted by said shopping mall. 0, nada, zilch of these photos have contained a car or anything even remotely resembling information about a car. Instead we have 461 photos of "pretty's" , "models" , "singers" and "presenters". Anyone else getting tired of the fact that Thailand never develops or evolves?

Or is it just me that feel like Im stuck in a country of cavemen?

  10. So we are relocating back to Sweden for a few years and are thinking about shipping all our stuff. I've tried googling but it seems to be a jungle of well know and less known companies all qouting me wildly different prices. We are looking at a whole container for about 2000kgs of stuff. Delivery time doesnt matter to us (up to 5-6 months is ok). Anyone have experience with a reliable and reasonably priced logistics company?

Would be very greatful for any tips!

  11. The answer is very simple. To the big masses of beach tourists that visit places like Phuket, Samui and other popular islands the prices have skyrocketed over the last 10 years and no Im not talking about a pad thai on the corner. Im talking about flights, hotels, day trips, food in nice restaurants, etc. Thailand used to be attractive to European tourists because it was cheap. At the moment with many European currencies weak against the baht there are nicer more developed places where you can actually walk around a nice little town with beautiful shops and restaurants at night (yes the average beach tourist/family cares about this)options to travel to that are just as cheap.

  12. Is this a very cheap rental or what?

Why would someone rent your wife's car with such a stupid clause in the contract when there are plenty of real rental companies with real renters insurance renting out monthly at a reasonable price. Bottom line is if you wanna rent out your personal car, you take a great financial risk and unless you charge like half of what a rental company does only a moron would rent from you. Simple as that..

  13. I assume that "booking" means to place an order for a vehicle and pay the dealer some sum of money (i.e. 10% of purchase cost). Correct?

If so, then by "booking" a vehicle this month (December 2105) for a 2016 model year vehicle to be delivered sometime in 2016 and the dealer paid the remaining difference in 2016, this avoids the tax increases said to start in 2016?

The booking fee is normally only about 10k baht for normal cars. Higher for premium cars yes but not for the average Toyota or Honda.

  14. Sorry to post this but if REPS is too expensive then a different area and thought plan might be of an advantage to your children's education. Nothing is cheap in Thailand.

Very helpful! Ridge indicated that other less expensive places were available, I merely asked for details.

There's St Joseph's in Rayong town which I think is a bit cheaper than REPS. Don't know of any other english programs in Ban Chang other than REPS. There are 2 international schools though, Garden and St. Andrews.
