  1. Hi

The "Flame tree" grows pretty quick, reckon ours is 4 mtrs in 3 years, be aware when we purchased the tree it was skinny but tall and in a plastic bucket, after parting with the money the guy tilted the pot over and cut the tap root that had grown through and into sand. It knocked the tree back for around a year. Having said that the Mango tree is always an option.

It depends, the electronic meters are capable of measuring export power. How they react is down to how they are programmed, they are quite capable of going backwards (net metering). Unfortunately they are also quite capable of ignoring export, or worse, counting export power as consumed power and billing for it!

We won't actually know how they behave until someone with solar who is net metering actually gets one. Hopefully that's not going to be us any time soon.

Also, there are enough locals doing net metering that there will be a lot of noise made if the new meters don't account for it in the same way as the existing ones.

Worst case will mean re-configuring our solar to be hybrid with batteries and "do not export" set ????

Yes I understand how a smart meter can work, its the feed in tariff that's the killer

  3. Your meters are "whole current " ie the main cables go in and out of the meter, this is normal for supplies up to 100A. The OP's meter is a 200/5 CT meter ie the main cables don't go in and out of the meter but pass through "current transformers" usually in a sealed meter cabinet with the meter stuck on the front.

Be aware, you may run into unexpected obstacles if you need to mail a package from Thailand...the Thai postal service does not mail to every country...the other mail services, like DHL, can be fairly expensive...????

Thx, hopefully I'm just importing stuff into Thailand

Where you surprised by your success? ????

Yep I had thoughts of the delivery being stuck in a Bangkok warehouse covered in official red tape and a paperwork nightmare. The GF was less amused as she had to pay the 7k import duty

  6. Quick post on my recent experience.

On the 24th Oct whilst in the UK I ordered some CNC router parts from a seller on Ali Express for delivery to the GF's address in Thailand. The parcels were delivered yesterday by TNT and they collected the import duty, so all in all a painless exercise which I will do again.

i use this concret rings around my plants in phuket because we live next to a kung farm and in the past they had drainage overflow, so i have clean soil. why you do it on your farm, any specific reason?

To stop the roots getting water logged, it also makes picking and maintenance easier as you can see from the lack of weeds in the rings ????. The Avocado seems to like it
