  1. Many of the busses (the regulated ones from the bus stations) are now driving much slower than in past years. The 999 busses have a diigital display of the drivers' speed beside the clock in the passenger cabin. I rarely see the display rise above 90KM?HR. I cannot speak for the un-regulated tourist busses. But my experience on 999 is that it is a slower, safer ride than a decade ago.

Of course, this is Thailand, and you have to worry about all the other idiots on the road.

The problem then of course is they sit in the outside lane from the start to the end of their journey, even when the inside lane is clear for several kilometres.

  2. Some people may disagree but have you tried using an agent?? They can often get you a good price as they know the owner and know the owners limits taking away the guesswork.

You don't have to pay them they get commission on each customer who rents.

Some folk think the office is the best place but believe me they also get commission.

Actually I have to disagree. I've used an agent and they got one month's rent as commission. The owner said to me after we had used the agent that she wished we had called her directly as she could have reduced the rent for the 6 month period and we both would have been better off. True to her word, she reduced the rent for the 2nd term of 6 months. And she was a great landlady, fixed everything promptly and even bought us a wedding present. I've rented 3 houses over the last 3 years and had no trouble with landlords/landladies at all.

But did you know the owner to start off with?

  3. I've found it to be a case of entertaining the general public here more than anything.

"Come see the animals in the zoo"

I've been to such places where you can "feed the patients"

I found it quite disgusting but it appears its the best way to get funding in as people visiting often bring food/ money/clothes etc etc

  4. Seems like more then a few folks live in a bubble,me also.It is not because of others you live there ,it is because of yourself and if you are comfortable there is nothing wrong with it.

It starts at a young age when all the other kids smoke but you don't because you just don't like the taste.

You are your own person and probably always have felt different from the rest and now here you have the time and the means to create your own little environment.

I finally live in the B i always wanted, big garden,a lot of animals,a few selected friends,(took years to find them) and a fantastic young lady who seems to also love the quiet life.

We do go out to the market and we meet friends at a swimming pool on Sundays.

Yes i do think it has also to do with age but i am almost happy i don't have the urge to do crazy stuff anymore.

To anyone living in a (comfortable) bubble, enjoy it to the fullest!

As a youngster I too didn't like smoking drinking or parties, I did love motorbikes though, unfortunately at this age the pressure is enormous to join in with these things.

I refused and am thankful I had it in me to not conform as a youngster especially now smoking is seen quite rightly as a bad thing.
