I'm guessing zero, which means that any money that you did spend was simply for items for your own consumption and comfort, same as it would be in any place on the planet.

I'm also guessing that if it came down to a choice between the piddling sums that you likely spend or having someone with your insulting attitude leave, the Thais would choose for you to be gone.

Yes it was quite an innocent post ,just an observation really ,but i suppose i always knew it would come down to a slanging match ,it always does among keyboard warriors ,as you can say anything you like without offending anyone to their face ,like a guy i know who is very friendly but wears black socks with his shorts ,big mistake ,but i never tell him to his face

people who have no education & money and working the street, as a cleaner or worse, they live by with gossip, look at all the stupid thai shows, that is what they like

poor dirt & on the phone and smoking ciggies, is their life

work = hanging around, chatting, gossiping, and do as little as possible

My Thai is not great i miss a lot when strangers talk ,but i had the jist of the conversation ,that was the only reason i asked my wife what she said ,if it had been an everyday conversation i would have taken little notice.

Coming on holidays from a freezing winter in OZ I couldn't wait to put on my T Shirt, shorts and thongs. For the 6 weeks I was there that's all I wore and it was one of the best holidays I ever had. I really don't think Thai people give a stuff what you wear, but they do like you even more if you spend your money buying their goods, renting their beach chairs, buying their beer or going to their restaurants. Thailand, I love the place.

I do not believe that she was commenting on tourists in holiday mode of shorts and t shirts ,more the dirty unwashed guys with a few days growth of beard and loads of tatts ect ,that you see going to immegration ,i do believe it was just a comment that many do not seem to have any manners or pride in themselves . and God knows as someone who has been around THailand for 20 odd years i see enough of them ,

Overuse...all the cheap charlie farangs saving the B150 foreign bank card ATM fee. Always a long line of disheveled farangs at the Bic C Extra one.

i use it about 5 times a month ,750 baht ,if you don't want yours i will have it 9000 baht a year ,

No need for foreign ATM cards...plenty of funds in baht accounts with local banks/ATM cards.

So have i ,and that is how i bring it over ,free using the metro bank and an Aeon machine.

How am i racist? you are the one who said you were sure a poor Thai woman would sell you her daughter for sex ,so that she does not have to work. you sound a real quality tourist /expat .

Came back from Tesco earlier and yet again they were fixing the machines ,Big c hardly ever working recently .anyone know what's the problem ,perhaps to many of us using them

Wouldn't you expect the Thai street vendor to be sweet talking her customers (your wife)? I doubt the vendor would be telling your wife what she really thought of you.

No ,i think she was just commenting that so few westerners dress nicely (and if dressing decently makes me a snob ,then so be it ) personally i do not like when i am in the UK seeing women in Burkas or men dressed in robes ,when in Rome ect)

Finally checked out D Pharmacy. Did not really check prices. For me I found them useless. They did not carry Hytrin, clueless as to what an Alpha Blocker is.

Did not know what Epsom Salt is or Magnesium Sulfate. I would not go there again.

Also checked a new Pharmacy on the other side of Sukhumvit (just before you get onto the highway) Said they would get me prices for Hytrin

on 2 occasions, but never a call back. incompetence seems to rule.

The other day i was at immegration ,on leaving the wife and i stopped at a cart to get somtam ect ,anyway the old lady there started a conversation with the wife ,it was obvious she was talking about me (my Thai is limited)

asking the wife what she had said ,she said that the old lady had asked how long we had been married and said that i looked very smart unlike most of the foreigners that she saw who were low class and looked terrible ,the way they dressed and all the tattoo's they had and on the whole looked scruffy and dirty .

Now i was only wearing a shirt and trousers ,but i was quite shocked that a woman who was obviously not very well off and working selling food from a cart had such a low opinion of us westerners . Do you think its what most of them think ,?

I think that most ladyboys assume that you know what they are ,unfortunatly some people dont get out much and can't tell that must be what happened with this Russian guy ,after saying that he should have just walked away ,i have no sympathy for him ,he was a total arse doing what he did.
