  1. What exactly have the 'axed' him from as per the headline - he doesn't appear to be doing anything at the moment and the charges related to something that happened 15 years ago.

Maybe, just maybe it has something to do with politics...............

    Mr P " I am not biased"...........coffee1.gif

So if they get a criminal who happens to be from another political party

    - then it's politics, not crime?

So criminals from the political opposition cannot be persecuted because it would be political?

And if there are more from one political side than from the other - may be it has to do with their politics? Or with the ethics of this party?

Better they eliminate criminals from one side then they do nothing -result is less criminals and that's good, isn't it?

  2. Topic says it all "his governments claimed commitment," don't really need to read more as it's been a year.

    so what did you expect?

    1. day in government: removing corruption

    2. day get a decent police force

    3. day Thaksin in prison - harakiri of PT and Redshirts

    4. day everybody happy

    5. day everybody rich

    6. day all Thai people have a kaukasian appearance

    7. day step back and have democratic elections followed by a democratically acting elected government?

    ....?

Which Western government got their plan done in the first year?

what are you.... dreamer or hypocrite?

  3. It is probably impossible to keep both sides happy and have a "Fair" constitution that will lead to some kind of reconciliation. Thats why I think a referendum is a mistake and a bit of a gimmick . I doubt many will sit down and read the whole document and make an assessment. So the majority of people will listen to the objections that will be raised by Party cheerleaders and vote accordingly. It requires moderates on both sides to sit down and attempt to bring in something that is acceptable to both sides, easier said than done of course

It is probably impossible to keep both sides happy and have a "Fair" constitution that will lead to some kind of reconciliation.

What use is it to have a constitution that keeps criminals and corrupted people happy?

  4. So whats been happening over the past 12 months... Oh planning the war.

    Sent from my c64

I guess corruption is so deeply routed in this country that it was better to prepare a good strategy and wait until this government had enough time to survey and get their position strong enough because heavy resistance has to be expected.

I wish the general good luck and success.

Did any other government before take any real step against corruption? What did the shin gang governments do against corruption?

  5. Meanwhile, at markets around the country, hundreds of thousands of fish are being kept (barely) alive in little plastic tubs before they are sold as food. What is so different about them?

So you think one cruelty justifies the other?

of course one cruelty does NOT justify another.

he is simply making a very valid point, which is a good one.

its pointing out the MASS bad-treatment of animals goes un-noticed, while a small offence on an unusual animal gets Mass attention.

    its ironic.

the mass mis-treatment shines a bright light on the mindset of these people,

in this way the "small" offence on an unusual animal might incite some feeling and thinking about this basic mindset

  6. I'm happy with my crumbling old 1970s condo, so I don't really have a horse in this race.

I understand and respect Thai opinions and traditions on foreign ownership of Thai land and houses. I think that if there were to be a change, it should be for foreigners to own a single house and a small lot, for personal use only. I would not support an unregulated foreigner land-grab fest, which would obviously only make life even harder for Thais on modest incomes.

... and for not so well to do expats as well

  7. A military coup that throws out an elected government lectures the masses about "true democracy." He forgot his fifth principle of disenfranchisement. A pentagon of Thainess democracy.

    "elected government" cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

    again that rubbish "elected government"

forgetting how, why and by whom and with what understanding they were elected

forgetting the corrupt and incapable way they governed

  8. True democracy, he said, was actually based on four principles: justice, equality, freedom and representation.

Justice for all regardless of connections. requires rule of law.

Equality, equal rights, part of the first part

Freedom, of the press, freedom to speak the truth.

Representation, Having the right to vote and majority rule.

He's right, it can't happen here and it's less likely now than ever.

He's right, it can't happen here and it's less likely now than ever.

I think, now it is more likely than it ever was, in particular more likely than during the shin gang governments

  9. Not a good look when you have to beg to get money to fight a case that as far as the RTP would consider an open and shut case, mind that's their opinion , on past experience they could be so far off the mark that they wouldn't have a clue who committed the murders and personally when a senior officer declares that the DNA isn't Asian I would have to say that once again the RPT couldn't solve the case of a missing shit house roll, the Burmese boys need the best legal representation they can muster because one thing is for sure the RPT cannot afford egg on face in front of a international audience, this they don't want, so they will pull out all stops to win. coffee1.gif

When they lean too far out of the window there is a good chance they will fall - very very deep

Let's hope so, unless they can proof for everybody clearly to see that they are right

    - but who believes they can do this?
