Well. You can rely on Chicog for some straight talking can't you.
BTW. Moyes didn't win the Community Shield.
He inherited it from SAF and did a John Terry.
Cheers

China listen to the UN?
Mention Tiannanmen, either in public or on the social media, and you are likely to be visited.

Toasting my health in a Beijing restaurant is offensive.
Toasting my health in a Chiang Mai restaurant is a far more serious indictment.

Buying a 900 million building from JP Morgan is a jibe ? Wow you just made dinner conversation for me with my Chinese partners here on how low the hatred can get ...we will salute you with a toast and drink some fine scot whiskey"So in the next wave of Chinese economy, I would like to see that greater reliance of domestic consumption and purchasing of foreign interests namely nuclear in UK, property in manhattan ...it's a good strategy like Singapore called economic defense."
Well if China is so good at nuke (if it's good enough for Britain must be good enough for China) why are they importing fossil through Burma. Nuke capability not enough presumably for the voracious demand in China. Btw. French consortium leads the build in the UK. China is a helpful financial passenger.
Not sure what this subtly inserted Manhattan property jibe is all about.
Chinese landlady in Beijing will get her knickers seriously twisted if the property bubble bursts.
I know her well.

as for nuke technology it's called diversification of your energy needs ...

You sure do understand the concept of ownership.
Take care leaving the restaurant after you have toasted me.
And be extra careful with the peasant on a bicycle.
If you are in Beijing that is.

Agree mate, just love watching my team and it is sure a test of character we will either step up and win comfortable or make it very hard on ourselves, there seems to be no in between with united right now, we really need the defence to sort themselves out.Cant wait for tomorrow night champion League. Will be a test of character for all involved in the match. The Spaniard are very witty and difficult to play against.
Disagree nev. Sorry mate. There is an in-between. It's called mediocrity and united are playing a blinder.

Will RVP stick around if they don't make top 4?
Can David Moyes attract top players to a side that is losing its way a bit?
Good run in the CL this season and top 4; Minimum requirement I would have thought.

All this talk about Lamela....well to me its simple. He will either enjoy his time in London and work hard at his game....breaking into the team and becoming a firm name on the teamsheet when his chances appear or he will return to the continent for £20 mill or so.
With a young player like that from abroad there is always an element of risk so i won't call it either way.
All we can do is wait and watch....with some anticipation it must be said....he certainly has the skill....whether he will apply it correctly in the Premiership is the question.
As to Chavski....I can only say ....Robben....
Magnificent player Robben.
Misses a pen in the CL final 2012 and Chavski win!
Makes one, scores one, Man of the Match CL final 2013.
You win some, you lose some.
Still only 29!

And not forgetting the major European pharmaceutical company who walked right into the Venus fly trap by moving their global headquarters to Beijing.
Onwards and upwards. One China, one global economy.
Victory for the common man.

So, the EPL takes on Europe this week.
Arsenal and Chelsea v The Dastardly Huns.
City v The Russian Wide Boys
And Tottenham Hotspur v Sherriff Tiraspol. ( they play a 1-0-1 system. Sherriff up front and his deputy in goal.) Come on Lamela, do your stuff buddy.
Not forgetting the real social event at Old Trafford of course.
Enjoy.

Thanks for that mjj. Fascinating.

OK Alfie. I stand corrected.
Cheers.

And Levy this season spent pretty much the same money as City.
( yes, I know Spurs sold Bale and some dead wood, excluding Caulker! so your net spend was about £3m)
All sorts of hypocrisy going on here.
In fairness to the tiny totts, they have done it out of their own pocket and not out of a pot of stolen money (cf. Chelsea/Man City, neither of whom are capable of turning a profit without accounting shenanigens from their owners).
Yep. True Chicog.
Politics, money, sport. Insolvable.
Good luck in Europe.
Cheers.

Well as I see it Alfie, I'm having a little bit of a discussion with carmine who's opinions I respect and you want to seem to come in from the side with a head butt.
If carmine tells me I have got something badly wrong and talking like a piss pot, I have no problem taking it on the chin.
Actually i don't think you have this badly wrong and i understand the angle you are coming from. Its just such a srange situation we found ourselves in. Having a very talented, world class young player, massively over valued whilst still be relatively unproven.
Historically we have always had to weaken in order to buy. No complaints, as long as the right players were sold, thats business. Saying that, Van Der Vaart out, Dempsey in was infuriating, as was not replacing Modric properly.
My point is that Madrid put us in an incredible one off situation whereby we really had no other choice but to spend big. The fans would not accept the owners pocketing the cash either. Theres no hypocrisy, just a ludicrous piece of good fortune created by Florentino Perez, who i believe to be a little insane! So, ultimately we were forced to sell Bale, offloaded another 27m worth of squad/fringe players and hey presto theres 113m in the bank. Whats a club to do? We couldn't leave ourselves weakened and we couldn't just leave in in the bank. Our new stadium build is set to start next year and we need CL revenues in just the same way Arsenal did.
Wheres the hypocrisy in us being thrown into a one off situation like the City Chelsea financial power houses and choosing to reinvest in our squad. I think its highly combinable. Now were going to have to wait until next summer when they offer us another 80m for Andros Townsend
I would add that we were also very lucky in that we already had Baldini on board and without him i doubt if we would have been able to identify these players and done the deals in time.
Accepted carmine. Well reasoned and accurate.
Cheers.

Something I have noticed Lawrence on this and many other China related issues, is the constant references to historical events which are used to support and condone modern day China's attitudes and behaviour.
I don't know how best to describe it. Revenge, assertion, I don't know. It's like China has a chip on its shoulder.
Why can not China dump the past and move forward without all this historical baggage?
Maybe the one party system is not conducive to forward thinking. A bit of challenge to ingrained thought processes?
I appreciate that the democratic system in the US is having a tough time at the moment, so please don't come back with China system is more effective than Western.

OK. So we have had insults thrown at Torres and Abramovich.
Currently, the criticism of Mourhino is implied rather than explicit although it is pretty obvious he is not at all well liked by opposition teams.
I wonder why.
Personally I hate Abrahamovich for working with Putin and stealing all that money from the Russian people - the fact that he's spent it on a toy football club and is desperate for a British passport puts him in the same boat as Al Fayed as far as I'm concerned.
And he's definitely been a big part of screwing up the market for players, let's face it. The only reason Liverpool bought that carthorse Carroll for 35m is that they were desperate for him and Newcastle knew they had the cash.
Torres isn't worth 50m in anyone's book, not for the number of goals he scores. But Abrahamovich doesn't care, it's not his money.
And Levy this season spent pretty much the same money as City.

You could say that much of the world is fundamentally tribal in nature, but what is illuminating and actually quite reassuring is how religious beliefs can be switched relatively (with obviously some major exceptions) easily. See the spread of catholocism in Latin America or more recently the spread of christianity in S.Korea.Well, since the main stumbling block (excuse) is religion, that is where a change would have to start. Religious beliefs are based on culture, which in this area is very tribal in nature.
For heavens sake the folk of Tanna island (part of Vanuatu) even worship Prince Phillip (husband of Queen of England)!!!

For heaven's sake....
Yep. Great solution for the problems of Syria.
Keep me posted on how it works with Assad.

Re your second point have a read of Matthew 7:1-5.
You asked for an opinion. I gave it.
Try doing a search on TV for Xayaburi re my stance on damming the Mekong and also the Hongsa lignite mine and connected power station. Both these plus a shed load more dams in Laos are an effort to make Laos an energy exporting nation, supplying electricity to LOS, funded by Thai money and built by Chinese subcontractors. The joys of globalization....Are you worried about the Mekong river or the China Sea.
Are you worried about bullies in Beijing having economic leverage outside their borders.
Are you worried about the voracious soulless appetite in shopping malls and its effect on your psyche.
I can't change it. Maybe you can.
Presume you mean South or East China Sea and surprise, surprise I have expressed all sorts of concern re Chinese blue water capability in previous threads.
"Bullies" having economic clout beyond their borders? Welcome to colonialism or neo-colonialism, or just good old aggressive trade policies. These have been a constant for hundreds of years with a rich cast of players. Rarely a pretty sight if on the receiving end, but countries do tend to run their economic policies for their own benefit. The glories of Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, London (you could probably insert your home town), were hardly built on spreading sweetness and light across the world.
Bottom line, nasty folk and their intentions are a constant and it's just a case of learning to deal with, cope with school bully.
I'll skip the shopping mall nonsense.
Changing things? Pretty dam_n difficult for anyone!
Your lecturing attitude is irritating.
No thanks. I'm Buddhist.

I doubt very much that we will be seeing the folks in the ME worshiping Prince Philip or anyone other than the current Prophet.
So, your suggestion is what?
He likes the sound of his own voice.
