I am planning to do this visa run in the next two weeks and was hoping someone could clarify whether I can provide a copy (and produce the original) of our australian marriage certificate? We were married in Australia 9 yeears ago but have not married here or registered the marriage with thai authorities.
We do have copies of the australian certificate certified by the australian embassy here.
THanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I think my only option is a new non immigrant o from savanaket. i have income of now than 40k per month but it is intermittent. I guess I could ask for a stat dec from Australian embassy but i expect they would require proof.
Thanks again for the reply.

Hope i am not hijacking, but I am hoping someone can relieve my confusion. I am at the end of my first non imm "o" based on marriage and am not sure what to do. Facts are below:
non imm o married to Thai national. (2 kids also, married in Australia)
visa expires 15/7/15 (today)
latest stamp allows me to stay until 24/8/2015.
Is my best option to go to savanaket before 24/8/2015 and apply for new non immigrant O?
If yes, what documents are required?
I assume this has all been asked before but i am having trouble finding correct info in forum or on thai immigration website... Any help appreciated.

I went to Ban Phu Nam Ron on Wednesday of this week and can report it was a very easy and fast process. There were no people waiting, the immigration staff were friendly, I paid my 910 baht and was driven to the Myanmar checkpoint, where the driver hopped out of the car with my passport and returned 2 or 3 minutes later with my passport stamped as entering and leaving Myanmar. Drove the 5 minutes back and went through thai immigration where i received my 90 days stamp.(non immigrant O visa based on marriage to thai)
There was a lot of roadworks going on over the last few kms where you go up and over the mountains. As an aside, I took my wife and 2 kids and we stayed over in kanchanaburi for the night which was nice. Ate at a restaurant called "Meat & Cheese" which was great!
Only downside is from Bangna area it took about 4 hours to get to the border.

Unfortunately my Australian licence has expired, and I have to send a new picture to the transport authority in Australia in order to renew it. The form has a list of authorised witnesses which includes members of the police force. It also states that a person having an equivalent occupation in another country can be an authorised witness. Does this mean I can grab the local thai traffic cop and get him to witness my form??? Or will i have to go to the Aus embasssy and pay a fee?
Has anybody had to renew their Australian (Victorian) drivers licence from here?
Any input is appreciated.

Any recent reports on this border crossing? I hope it is still operating smoothly. Have to go in and out for non immigrant "O" visa this week.
Any info appreciated.

I did consider a border run service, but I am not a good passenger and prefer not to risk my life in a minivan, not knowing the abilities of the driver. Also, I had 50 Singapore dollars I wanted to spend in the bar at Singapore airport...good for about 3 beers!

We were married 9 years ago in Australia. I will have to get it translated into Thai at some point. Do I need to register it where my wife is listed on house registration? Or should it be done where we currently live?
It just seems a lot of duplication. The thai embassy accepted a certified copy of our australian marriage certificate when they gave me a visa. Now I have to show again that we are married by translating to Thai and certifying here. I knew there is a lot of paperwork and beaurocracy here before we moved back here. just having a whinge...

I can understand that Chaeng Wattana couldn't help. The problem is that SamutPrakan just seem to be not interested in being the least bit helpful, and I get the impression they don't know the rules themselves. The guy also started going on about showing proof of income or savings, which you need for 90 day reporting. But we clearly explained that is not what we were after. Just a simple 60 day extension. My wife was with me and she had her id card and house registration.
Hopefully I will have a work permit in the next couple of weeks which will (I assume...) make things easier.

I cannot give any update on Kan border policy as I decided to fly to Singapore and back instead. Did it same day with Tiger air (5300THB). I had overstayed by 3 days and went to Samutprakan immigration office to try to get an extension (which I was advised I could do). Very unhelpful staff member told me I need a whole list of documents before I can do this. (translated and certified copy of marriage certificate, copy of landlord ID and more.) So I decided to go to Chaeng Wattana to try my luck. Was told at reception, "No problem" by helpful lady. Just fill out this form and take a number... After 2 hour wait was told cannot apply for extension here as home address is SamutPrakan (Sukhumvit105, right on the border). So then hatched plan to drive to Kanchanaburi border but later decided to fly to Singapore.
I don't understand why all the requirements to extend a visa I already have (Non immi-O based on marriage to thai). I already had to do all that when I got the visa.
Anyway, no point arguing...

Any recent reports on whether a visa is required to enter Myanmar? Or is it still 900 baht (or thereabouts) at the border?
Planning to drive there tomorrow from Bangkok to satisfy non immigrant O visa.

Thanks for the answers. Do I have to go to Chaengwattana to do this? I live in BangNa. So far I've never been to an immigration office in Thailand, so I am unfamiliar with the locations.
Forgive my ignorance...

thanks for the reply.
I was under the impression that once you overstay you cannot apply for extension?

I just discovered I am overstaying on my non immi O visa (marriage) by about 3 days. I assume I just have to leave and re-enter Thailand, as well as pay the overstay fine. Any suggestions as to economical way to leave Thailand? Living in Bang Na. Don't particularly want to risk life and limb in a minivan! I have my own reliable car.
Currently considering flying in and out of Singapore or Vietnam, but Vietnam would require overnight stay due to flight schedules. Very cheap though!
Thanks in advance.

I have just realised I have have overstayed my non imm O (based on marriage) multiple entry visa ( by 1 day) and am wondering if the overstay would cause a problem when doing a visa run here? Anyone have any ideas?
Could I pay the fine at the thai border office?
thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply Siampolee. I can get them from the dealer, but i was looking more for aftermarket type shop, as dealer is more expensive.
Cheers.

Does anybody know of, or can recommend, an auto parts retailer in Samutprakan, on the east side of Bangkok? I need to buy some shock absorbers for a Nissan Cefiro, and everything I can find so far is Bang Khae...prefer not to travel so far if possible.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Mac and Joe. Will try the district office first, followed by embassy if necessary.
-
Ok. Thanks. Think I might just go to aus embassy and pay the extra. Hopefully a document from them will be acceptable for getting Thai license.

I have non imm-O visa multiple entry and have about a month before I have to leave and re-enter. so I should be able to go to any office?
-
So am I restricted to go to immigration in the area I live, or can I go to any office? Can anyone advise of an office that has done a c of o recently?
I wanted to get the certificate in order to apply for Thai drivers license. Is there any other way?
Thanks in advance.

As per title, went in with all required papers, told immigration no longer doing this. Told to go to my embassy. Anyone had a different experience?

Thanks for the replies. I certainly don't intend or want to break a lease. A lot can happen in two years. Just curious to know the consequences.

Currently looking for a rental house around bang Na and prawet and have found that the rental is generally cheaper if a 2 year lease agreement is involved. My question is, if I sign up for a 2 year lease and then, for whatever reason, am unable to fulfil the 2 years, what will happen? I assume I would just lose my 2 months deposit?
Anybody have any experience with this?
Thanks in advance!
