  1. A small Thai house walled on 3 sides with a septic tank system. At the beginning of the rainy season (early June in Udon ) we have underground water sipping to the surface with a foul smell.  During the dry season we have very little rising water. We checked the toilet-septic tank piping system to detect leaks, using coloring agents but all seem to be ok… The septic tank was inspected by the blue pumping truck staff and declared leak free. My understanding is that the grey water from the septic tank penetrates a very wet soil under the septic tank, the soil unable to absorb more liquid forces it to rise to the surface. Is installing a sump pump the only possible solution ? Any good water-management engineer around ? Thanks all.

  2. I was given that flower pot several months ago, i thought that it was some kind of weed, then with the rainy season it grew quickly.

However i have no clue what it is. Can anyone identify this plant ? Botanical - English-Thai names would be greatly appreciated.

In many cases people bring me plants ( get rid of them ) without knowing the plant name. Pretty annoying.

Thanks all for your help. Have a safe and happy day.

  5. We purchased this plant at the Khon Kaen Agricultural fair in 2015. It s blooming for the first time, real pretty. Unfortunately the tag name is wrong. I managed to trace the << Thai name >> MAHALAB ( ‘Mahalab’ (ว่านมหาลาภ) ) ( which is orange colour >> << Malachok - (ว่านมหาโชค) is white>>.Does any one know the English and Botanical names ?

    Thanks to all.

  6. Good day to all.

I should be a First TImer this july 2016. I plan to fly BKK--HCMC.. I would like to spend 3-4 days in HCM city and then 2-3 days outside HCM city.

What to see / do in HCMC ? Where to stay ( 3 star hotels) in HCMC ? How is HCMC airport ?

Where to go outside HCMC for 2-3 days ?

I have read this topic and taken some notes and then of course i will google as much as possible

BUT there is NOTHING like Your Recent Visit to Vietnam to provide an up-to-date picture. Please share your experience.

    Thanks have a nice day/evening.

  7. I am in UD and i am having problems procuring some medications, such as Bestatin, or Hypercor, would like to try ZIMMEX etc... Does anyone know an Online pharmacy ? OR a local pharmacy that would ship these medications? Thanks

    Have a nice day.

  8. The toilet ( a Thai style installation ) was leaking from under on the tank side.

I sealed the base with cement compond. See pic.

Since then it does NOT flush properly. The tank fills ok.

When you press and release the flush lever water rushes into the bowl

and sits there. There is NO siphoning action.

Did i blocked anything ( air intake for example ) by applying cement all around the base ?

Does it need air intake to flush ?

    Your help would be appreciated.

    Thanks Have a nice day

  9. I have several passion fruit ( sawarot) plants in pots, started from seeds taken from fruits purchased at the market.

They have lush green leaves climbing on the trellis i made. However after a year not a single fruit yet, i have had dozens of flowers... I am in ISAN ( Northeast Thailand ) and i have many questions such as.. ( 1) How long ( years/months ) before obtaining fruits. (2) What s best fertilisers to use to produce fruits and less leaves? ( 3) I water them daily, is it too much ?(4) Should the plants be in full sun ?

On the internet one can find info about Australian growing but nothing about Thailand.

I would appreciate comments about your experience growing passion fruits.. Thanks in advance

  10. Was waiting at the airport link loading area at airport the other day for a ride to the city. There were perhaps 50 or more people waiting, mostly Thai and farang. It was very quiet and people were speaking in a soft tone. In comes 4 Chinese and all 4 were trying to see who could speak over who... Sad part is they got directly behind me in line. Soon as the doors opened and the other people got off the Chinese wanted to jump line and head in the car only to be stopped by security. Got inside car and sure enough everyone quiet except the 4 Chinese. They just don't have a clue and even getting dirty looks from everyone they just continue as if everything is normal. I welcome the Russians back sad.png

INTERESTING i was in Japan few weeks ago for 2 weeks, i have relatives there, and the only LOUD voices on the subways and trains are THAI.... So much so that the Thai embassy in Tokyo has issued a list of DOs and DONT s, including how to speak on train how NOT to use phone on trains etc.

  11. If you have a one year multiple entry NON IMMIGRANT O-A visa that will

    expire October 25 th 2015..
AND If for example you leave Thailand on October 20 th 2015 and re-enter Thailand on
October 24 th 2015.. you would get another one year visa running until
    October 23 rd 2016..
    Is this correct ??
During that SECOND year October 24 th 2015 to October 23 rd 2016 are you allowed
to exit Thailand ? Can you get a multiple entry visa ?? OR is it that if you
leave Thailand during that period you visa will be void ????
    Thanks all..

  13. DEFINATELY NOT A PASSION FRUIT... I eat passion fruit daily. Eggplant no....

This morning as suggested i cut it open. I could not cut it with a steak knife i had to use a cleaver to slice it.

It s very HARD ( probably not ripe ) the inside is very grainy..

    Thanks to all,,,

  14. I picked up this fruit this afternoon in a park in Isaan. It s roundish 5-6 cm X 5-6 cm, green pigmented.. When it is detached from the tree a liquid similar to milk comes out.. I have been told that maybe in Thai it is pronunced something like << twaa --- thaw >>.

Apparently it s from China and the legend says that it was given by an ANGEL for doing good deeds.

Anyone knows the correct English and Thai names of this fruit.. If you know the Thai name please provide the correct spelling-Thai script.

    Thanks to all... Much appreciated.
