When the ants swarm, at night after rains. I turn out all the lights until they go elsewhere. I tried using insecticide spray but turning off the lights was more effective and healthier. All the drawers in my bungalow had nests of ants which was a pain in the butt to clean up. I'm paranoid now thinking that these swarms are ants looking for places to set up a nest.

I am utterly confused how to search in this forum. Search box in top menu only gives back "405 Not Allowed". I cannot find another search icon or means to search this forum. For years I've struggled with this here so have avoided even using Thai Visa except through an external link.

Is it illegal to have a jam... musicians who just come together to play?
Is it illegal to play at an open mic night?
Does it depend on the venue?
Does it depend on whether payment is made?
So, we had a Blues festival here in Pai recently... were the farang musicians all playing illegally?
If you play at an event say a wedding of a friend, are you playing illegally?
If you are a guest performer, are you playing illegally?
Whjere is the line or do authorities just make it up as they go along?

Bangkok Bank in NY no longer proesses or facilitates transfers to Bangkok Bank in TL. My last transfer was returned to the bank of origin (US). I had to use Xoom - paypal. I learned that they overcharge in a sneaky way by having a low exchange rate. Friend told me about Transferwise. I can save around $30 on a $1000 transfer compared to Paypal....

Funerals are not just occasions of sadness and solemnity in many cultures but also occasions of celebration as the departed is off to a better life, a spiritual realm or another dimension... the sadness is for those left behind...

What a twisted story. The National Enquirer has reported that Ted Cruz had affairs with hookers and staff - 5 women. Three more women have surfaced since. Different news people are reporting that it was Rubio's people who had been promoting the story unsuccessfully to different news outlets for a couple of months.
The Irony is that Cruz is the Bible thumper and has won a couple of states perhaps for that reason. Now he looks like a total hypocrite.
There are enough people involved that it appears to be very possibly true. So do the various claims that it was Rubio's people, not Trumps who pushed out the story.
Before someone bashes the Enquirer out of hand, it broke the following stories, and more:
Bill Clinton-Monica LewinskyRev. Jesse Jackson had an illegitimate childTiger WoodsJohn Edwards' affairCheers. You know the Enquirer is a tabloid rag. Your logic is flawed. Because it got a few stories right but most are complete fabrications and distortions hardly makes it a paragon of legitimate journalism. You're smarter than that or maybe you just hope we aren 't....

German guilt over the Holocaust and Nazism still runs deep in Germany but not having a viable plan for the immigrants was a recipe for disaster....

"Acting metropolitan police commissioner Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathavorn said this morning that the police were prepared to file charge against the contractor for causing deaths and injuries to others for carelessness.
He said forensic police were inspecting the area this morning to look into the actual cause of the tragedy."Huh???? They're filing charges before they even know the cause of the accident or who is actually responsible? This is too bizarre... No wonder why backtracking and losing face are such constant issues here....

Obviously has mental problems as well as physical...many homeless people do... Expectations that he will behave as a normal, functional person are misguided...no need to get bent out of shape about it... As to who is 'responsible' for the mentally ill who are unable to function adequately, well, that's a loaded question...

Maybe they should run someone being investigated by the FBI for violating national security.
Still trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill... you've got nothing but impotent rage and hatred... for that, Trump is your man....let's see, he's targeted all non-whites, whole religions, countries... an endless supply of people to hate and an endless excuse for war and conflict.... oh, and of course, it's good for business and will make America great again..."God save the white man from the godless hordes..." .... ok, I get it... I grew up in the deep South and pushed over my share of burning kkk crosses in high school....as compelling as the teutonic myth was for the pre wwII germans, so the "great white hope" is for the tea party...
Virtue signalling, eh, Bwana.
Discrediting, eh, boss man...

Also did the trek in Nov 1980, flew from Pokara to Jomson as it was late in the season and I did'nt want to get lost in a snowstorm...just me, 2 goats, some chickens and a local resident in a small twin engine craft and a little baksheesh to the pilot. Runway was just a dirt track back then. It was a very rough ride and the pilot tried 3 times to land but was blow off and we had to return. He said it was not unusual as the wind conditions were often bad. Too bad as I wanted the downhill route but had to do the uphill trek...
Sorry to hear about the crash... that's a lot of people in one plane in those conditions but not surprised... RIP...
I might also add that our route was pretty unique. We actually flew in a spiral in order to gain the altitude necessary... it wasn't the linear distance that was significant but the vertical distance we had to travel that was. But, perhaps planes are stronger today and can fly more directly...

Smart monk to affirm that the separation of church and state is the best "middle" road to follow creating the least conflict for a diverse society... State sanctioned and run religion is a really bad idea.... let them squabble about their ideological differences without government intervention or interference....

Religion is a man made scam to control people by fear.
If I had my way it would be banned and I feel the world would be a safer and more pleasnt place.
In my experence people who practice religion are liars, hypocrites and people I have no wish to spend time with.
Russia, China and North Korea gave that a try and the persecution that resulted was a crime against humanity of massive proportions in which thousands of people were summarily executed for their beliefs. Is that what you propose? You need to understand the difference between what religion is meant to be and what organized religion becomes when hijacked by special interests, fanatics and government interests (see my post #15 I think)... If hate and rage are more empowering for you than compassion, forgiveness and love then by all means follow your path....

Well, what can I say.....
Fake monks scamming a gullible public... don't be taken in...

The fundamental purpose of religion is to awaken, to gain insight into the nature of reality and ourselves which will set us free from our conditioned and misguided drives and delusions that create our suffering and conflict. Obviously most religions have failed miserably in this mission and added to the root problem. My view is that they have been hijacked by special interests who have misguided people to relinquish their money, their power, their independence, their reason and discernment... We should be suspicious of organized religion but not give up our spiritual quest... the responsibility is back on our own shoulders to discern what is helpful and what is BS which simply means we have to work a bit harder on ourselves and not just be a part of a mindless flock...
I suspect that many Thai men have been emasculated to some degree and are angry. It's unclear here what it is to be a "man"...

Or perhaps the next of kin haven't been identified.
That shouldn't take too long, unless the next of kin are in another country.
Syria?
How can you even go there that based on absolutely nothing...could be 5 guys out for a night of drinking or on their way to work... Sometimes it seems that the basic IQ on this forum is so low it even makes me look good....

Is a mask required while riding a motorbike on the highway? in the countryside? Is "public" regarded as where people are present or gathered or an urban area?
