  1. Let's hope that the 'big powerful countries' come to their senses and stop this war to bring down the prices.
  2. A good hospital is one that provides feedback form from patients and do regular performance valuation on employed doctors. I wonder which hospitals actually does this in Chiang Mai. You can have one bad doctor/apple in the whole hospital/basket of good doctors. Or one good apple in a basket of bad apples....
  3. Wise can also be used for receiving payments, so it's not just for transfer. I don't like Paypal higher markup for its exchange rate.
  4. Surprisingly, many foreigners still want to go to Ram.
  5. Yes, you can hold in USD and get paid in USD too. The details are in the link below. https://wise.com/us/multi-currency-account/
  6. Isn't Wise a much better payment system than Paypal? Paypal's exchange rate is not as good as Wise so why not switch to Wise? Wise account can receive and send money.
  7. So for those above 50, retirement visa is still better. For those below 50 with no jobs/Thai wives, they usually do visa-runs so I don't think many people will pay for elite visa.
  8. Help me understand. A normal retirement visa is 800,000 so this elite visa is only 200,000 more ? How long do we have to keep the 1 million baht?
  9. There are tons of motorbikes in Bangkok. The purpose of a mass transit system is for the average Thai person to commute to work, it's not for the rich. Buying a small car is not the same as buying an expensive car. The middle-class Thai can afford to buy a small car but would prefer to use public transport if the BTS fare was cheaper due to the heavy traffic jam.
  10. Cheap for foreigners with strong currencies but not local Thai citizens. The objective of the train systems is to reduce road traffic which it has failed to do. Local Thai people would rather ride their motorbikes or cars which are cheaper in the long run.
  11. They keep on changing the rules that not many Thai people know about this.
  12. Just look at the horrific traffic jam in Bangkok and you'll know whether the BTS ticket fares are acceptable to most Thai people or not. It seems that they keep on raising the price of BTS instead of reducing it to be more affordable to the common fols.
  13. Another way is to download the Mor Prom app and login with your given 13 digit ID on your vax cert. The app will generate the international vaccine QR code for you for the officers to scan. I also got vaccinated in Thailand, and got my QR code from that app.
  14. Some of these go-go girls are actually transgender if that's alright with you. Last year while I was walking through the red light Silom area, one of the pretty 'girl' walked up to me but she spoke with a manly voice instead.
  15. My Thai neighbour told me we cannot hurt stray dogs and cats in Thailand, don't know whether it's true or not.
  16. I think it was because someone here complained of a 10 baht increase to 20 baht for a short Songtaew trip in Pattaya which used to cost 10 baht .
  17. As long as the current government keep posting announcements that they can change their minds frequently, people aren't too confident on the economy.
  18. This announcment has caused a lot of confusion as to which places can be allowed. I still see a lot of places like hospitals, shopping malls requiring people to wear masks.
  19. I think this announcement has caused a lot of confusion. I see quite a few people without their masks on when going into shopping mall. Why declare when you can only be maskless at limited places?
  20. Central Festival is already too crowded and it's difficult to find parking. Immigration should have chosen KSK instead which is less crowded now.
  21. In Chiang Mai, a short trip is minimum 20 baht so 10 baht is impossible. With the increase in petrol price, the minimum should be 30 baht now so you should feel happy they are only charging 20 baht
  22. Thanks but I don't want to check in a hotel in Bangkok for one night just to take a flight. Then it will be another mad rush taking the taxi from the hotel to the airport to take the early morning flight. It's better to wait and sleep at the airport for a few hours.
  23. To save cost of course, Amari one night is about 2000 Thai baht. I am thinking of catching a very early morning flight at Don Muang so might as well sleep overnight there.
  24. What do you mean by daily internet charge? There are monthly internet packages, did you sign up for that? If you did not, then it will charge base on minutes used. Just turn off the mobile data button on your phone, nothing to do with AIS.
  25. I don't see anywhere it's for Thai citizens only.. Maybe I missed it... https://krungthai.com/en/personal/deposits/212/427
