  1. I had one of those few years ago. Hardly ever used it. Good source of information on international SIM's is www.prepaidgsm.net Once there, go to forum then Inernational Cards. I bought my from the company called Telestial in San Diego.

  2. Thanks for the info.. For those of you who may be interested I was able to locate US licensed physicians in BNH and Bangkok Mission Hospital.

Could you share the names and specialties of these Doctors. Thank You

Dr. Nick Walters at the Mission Hospital - Tropical Med, Family Med.

Dr. Henry Wide at BNH, I don't know his speciality.

  3. My company requires that I have a physical exam every 5 years. The hard part is that is has to be a US licensed physician, physician's assistant or RN. Does anyone know if there are any US licensed doctors/PAs/RNs practicing in Thailand? I would prefer a doctor who is affiliated with a hospital or a large clinic in order to complete all lab work and other tests.

  4. I also brought several tools from the States along with a Radio Shack transformer. That seems to do the trick for battery chargers and my "Drill Doctor." I keep those tools locked up and tagged with a reminder, for myself, that they operate on different voltage. I once plugged the "Drill Doctor" in without the transformer but luckily I only burned the fuse... By the way, I also live in Surin area, Buached. Enjoy working with your tools.

  5. I bought two different sets of solar lights about four years ago and brought them here from the States. Both were made in China, one plastic and the other aluminium made. The plastic one lasted about two months but the aluminium one works to this day. Originally I had both sets installed just couple of inches above the ground but this coused excessive moisture and insufficient exposure to sun for charging batteries. After raising them to about three feet above the ground I'm getting much better results. They use special 1.2V batteries that I replace every year. I plan to install new lights in my garden this year and will be looking for something different than solar.

  6. I was told that 1st class auto insurance in thailand has no deductable like in the USA or I am sure many western countries... having no experience with insurance in thailand, is this true? this means I can wreck my car on a daily bases (probably not hard to do in bkk) without a deductable penalty? Anyone with expirience please share.

    thanks

I have a 3000B deductible with Viriyah. It reduced my annual premium by almost 5000B.. You have to specifically ask about it before paying for your insurance.

  7. We have a few hundred in stock, both new and used, in the US. If there is enough interest I could put together a container or two and bring them in.

We carry Honda, Yamaha, and Bombardier. No chinese models at this time.

What are your prices for various models/sizes? I would be interested if the price was right.

I have never brought anything under 200ccs into Thailand so I dont know what they might run. Over 200ccs you are looking at NADA retail plus about 400 to strip them down and rebuild, 200 shipping, and 30% import duties.

Thats puts them on the ground without Tabien Lot.

Give me a model and a year and I can give you NADA retail. I would need to put together a container though, one or two bikes at a time are not worth the hassle. I could probably do new ones for dealer cost + about $200.

I would be interested in something like Honda Four Trax Recon, 2008 model or any reputable brand between 230-400cc, and shaft driven.

  8. How should one react when one is being intimidated (he pounding hand on your shirt in breast height) and threatened by a (masked) Thai motorbike taxi driver, with his gang on the opposite street site? Fight back, make police report, forget it...?

How about verbal abuses aimed at you?

I'd never get in a situation like that because I'm not an idiot....

If you do get in a situation like that, you probably are, and deserve whatever you get.

If you think like this you are an IDIOT.

  9. In order to benefit from the European legislation, your girlfriend will have to be construed as your family member. To be a family member, she must be either your wife or your unmarried partner. The latter is defined as those who have lived together in a relationship akin to marriage for at least two years.

An interesting thought, to which I don't immediately know the answer, but which might be worth researching, is what if you were to obtain an Irish passport for your daughter? Your girlfriend could possibly then be perceived as a dependant of her own daughter and apply for a family permit free of charge.

    Scouse.

I tried to do exactly the same thing between my girlfriend and our daughter who is a US citizen. The final word that I received from the US Embassy was: "In order for your girlfriend to be considered a dependant of her US citizen daughter, the daughter has to be at least 18." Again. This was US, and you may have different outcome in your case.

  10. Just walk away, it's only a house, why get stressed out about it, after all, you must be able to afford it or else you wouldn't have done it, right ?

Can't blame the girl, blame yourself if you couldn't afford it.

Replies like this are total nonsense... There is at least two farangs here in Surin who were successful in court against their former spouses. You should pursue your case as far as legally possible.

  11. I work for a subsidiary of american company and I'm required to have a physical exam every five years. The physical has to be done by a US Licensed Physician with a license number provided on the form. It requires some lab tests, EKG, hearing, etc. All these tests can be done anywhere but a US doctor has to sign off on it. My problem is that I work in a third country and live in Thailand without going back to US for several years. Is there a hospital/clinic in Thailand with an american licensed doctors?

I am a US licensed Audiologist, with all my licenses kept current.... So technically I can take care of your hearing evaluation needs. The only potential issue I can see regarding your hearing evaluation is if your forms ask for calibration dates or other specific information.

Of course our equipment is calibrated, but not by any organization the US govt would recognize, and this would be an issue for any company in Thailand. (we do the calibrations for them)

Dakhar. I'll check with my employer to see what kind of equipment is acceptable for this test.

Ask the question at Bumrungrad - many of the doctors there have USA experience. Person to ask is Marcia who works in Customer Relations on the 8th floor.

Thank You Tammi. I'll do that.
