  1. Most of the hospitals have skin laser clinics that can take care of the problem, it really comes down to price and convenience of the location. I had some removed at Bumrungrad Hospital a few years ago and I was entirely happy, it's usually done on a walk in basis and it's all very quick. Kinda pointless me giving you posts since they will have changed considerably, you might try looking at the hospital web sites to get a better idea.

  2. Hi

Just looking for some advice on this,90 days has nearly expired on my double entry so I have two choices I can leave the country and come back in to extend or I can go to Sakon Nakhon and get a 60 day extension with my sons birth certificate. In the case of using my sons birth certificate to extend I want to know is my double entry still valid after that, can I go out and come back in after 60 days to still get my extra 60 days on the double entry.

I really am at my wits end with these visas, they seem to make up the rules as they go along.

Any help on this matter would be hugely appreciated.

    Thanks.

  3. I have about 15 moles which I would like removed some on my back, stomach and even the top of my head. There is a small clinic just around the corner from where I live but I am a little bit sceptical to the standard and type of care they will take in doing the job.Has anybody had this procedure done up here or can vouch a good clinic in and around the Khon Kaen area.

    Hope you can help.

    Cheers.

  4. Hi Guys

My Iphone took a knock over the weekend and its not powering on now,I tried using another battery charger but still no joy.Im living in rural Kranuan just outside Khon Kaen so just wondering if anyone had any advice on repairs,is there somewhere I can send it?I tried the Apple store online but they are looking for a serial number for the phone which can only be accessed from the box which I dont have or by turning on the phone or connecting it to a computer but neither are an option as the phone is not responding.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

    Cheers Eamon

  5. Right so our Internet was finally installed by 3bb after months of faffing around with Tot trying to help us sort a land lin, eventually we decided to just bite the bullet and move to a place with an already existing land line.13 meg for 900 baht seemed a fair deal and they were around pretty sharpish to install the router and take our money.First week was great finally we had decent internet, good things never seem to last very long in Thailand though and after almost 2 weeks our line was down. Its been nearly 5 days and every day 3bbs call centre tell us somebody is coming out sort it and nobody ever does.

I really a have pain in the arse at this stage.

True Visions,Tot and now 3bb its like trying to get blood from a stone getting them to do anything and all the while your getting billed.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with these guys?

Any advice on getting them to speed up their act.

  6. I wonder why some people bother to come to the Pattaya forum, since they seem to have such high morals, although I didnt read in the op, that the guy was "hanging around alleyways". BTW, what was your wife doing, hanging around outside a hotel?

Well he was robbed in an alleyway so I would assume he was either walking through there or hanging around either way he should have been more careful. This is a Thai forum,I live in Thailand and have done for the last 4 years so I think I have a right to say my part. And another thing don't try and be a smart arse my wife was not hanging around,i forgot my phone and went back up to the room to get it i had left her side for no more than 2 minutes. It just goes to show you the mentality of most of the men who visit Pattaya and BK,they seem to think every Thai woman is a hooker or can be bought. It gives a me a bloody headache, have some respect and think before you act.

hmmmmmm, a whole 4 years, still a bit wet behind the ears boy......
How do you work that one out? I run my own business, teach English and take care of my my wife and son and i have never had any trouble living here whatsoever besides some minor incidents mostly involving other farangs. So I would say I'm doing quite well for myself."Pops"

There is more to Pattaya than you 'Been there once' people can ever understand.

Besides being riddled with hookers and sex tourists what else does it offer that other parts of Thailand don't? Pattaya only appeals to a certain type of person and I don't have to explain the reasons why.More to Pattaya, pfffft get real.

  9. No sympathy for the owl git, walking down ally's in the middle of the night with 14000 baht on you is asking for it.

I assume that you are a fully paid up member of the fraternity of the <deleted> young. I suggest that the majority here would opine that walking down dark alleys late at night is not a good idea, but to say that this gentleman, who IMO is just entering old age, asked for it, is many a step too far. I suppose, given the way that young ladies dress these days, you would say that they are asking to be raped.

P.S. Being advanced in years is not a crime and should not attract derogatoray remarks. Many societies rightly revere their senior citizens who have a far greater fund of knowledge, experience and understanding than you apparently do. Three definitions of a 'git' are offered by the Urban Dictionary. Many, particularly those far senior than you, might well tend to think that they apply to yourself.

    1. A completely ignorant, childish person with no manners.

    2. A person who feels justified in their callow behaviour.

    3. A pubescent kid who thinks it's totally cool to act like a moron on the internet, only because no one can actually reach through the screen and punch their lights out.

An owl is a mainly nocturnal bird of prey. I think the word that you were seeking is 'old' but then with your apparent lack of education maybe it doesn't fall within the boundaries of your lexicon.

Well to me an old man walking around dark ally ways in Pattaya with a woman who is young enough to be his daughter tells me all I need to know about him and I would hardly describe that behavior as gentlemanly, hence why a I called him a git.The disrespectful comment towards me on your behalf was a hundred times worse than anything I said about him.He should have known better and even though I am young enough to be his son I don't see him having much common sense.I stand by what I said, don't get but hurt about it.

Old man with a woman young enough to be his daughter?

She is 33 !! Not exactly a babe in arms.

And as there are no alleyways off walking street, you need to read between the lines of the story.

So, he is walking this woman home off Walking Street and they apparently get robbed and you call him an old git.

I have to agree with Bagwan, he is not old, not yet even of pensionable age. How do you know he is not a gentleman? How do you know he does not open the door for her, or treat her like a lady? Many older men do, we have something called manners.

If he had picked up some young 20 year old from a bar or a-go-go, I might well understand derogatory comments.

Yet, as you state, you are young enough to be his son. Are you jealous he has such a beautiful woman on his arm?

I am sincerely glad my son does not have your attitude to life.

    My attitude to life?

    Beautiful woman on his arm?

    65 not old?

Who are you trying to kid,old man hanging around Pattaya late at night with a woman half his age,a gentleman? She may not be a bar girl but judging by the age gap he probably met her in a bar to begin with.

    A Gentleman?Get real.

I have been to Pattaya once in my life and I will never go there again never mind hang around in alleyways late at night with my partner.

I wouldn't dare consider bringing my family to a place like Pattaya.I spent a weekend in Bangkok a few years ago and walked outside my hotel to find an old man trying to proposition my wife.I absolutely went ballistic and told the guy to get lost before he got himself hurt.

By the sounds of the way you are talking your an old guy who can't handle the truth about what the motives are of old men who find themselves creeping around Pattaya and Bangkok in the late to early hours of the night.

Your a obviously a confused sex tourist trying to defend the honor if one your cohorts. Its not gonna wash with me though I see right through you.

  11. Have any of you ever dated a woman here for a relatively short time, but when the relationship came to a close, she acted like you'd been together for years and now you were abandoning her?

I'm a teacher here, and have realized the Thai education system isn't a good fit for me. I broke the news to my girlfriend that I am quite adamant about returning to the U.S. to earn an M.Ed. She's flipped, and now it's whiny guilt trip after whiny guilt trip. She talks as if we're married -- or perhaps rather that I owe her marriage. (I'm 33 and she's 29)

I've known her less than ten months, the majority of that time spent as "friends" because she was unsure and kept me at a distance. In essence, it felt like I was her dirty little secret for a time, and it wore on me a lot. I never lost my interest totally, but now that she's come around, part of me feels it's too little too late, given my career aspirations.

She is ambitious herself, career advancement is everything to her. She already has a masters, and also talks of perhaps going back to school to earn a Ph.D. In essence, should she decide to, she's allowed to do the very things she's telling me are a violation of our relationship. She recently changed offices because it was a hostile work environment -- I told her, and what do you think teaching English in the average Thai school is like?

Ignoring her own hypocrisy, she has accused me of being a typical farang: I came to Thailand, started a relationship and am now returning home. I countered explaining that returning to Thailand with an M.Ed is the best thing I can do for my long-term stability here. She says I'm just another lying farang. I never in my life suffered double standards like this with women in New York.

I'm not trying to paint all Thai women with the same brush (even though my girlfriend likes to generalize about westerners when it suits her). I am, however, curious if other posters have suffered a similar fate when attempting to end a relationship here.

Was your girlfriend at the time completely unwilling to consider your perspective, and did she attempt to make it a cultural thing?

I don't agree with the generalization that all Thai women are like this it simply depends on the woman, some women would probably be glad to see the back of you and wouldn't bat an eyelid to you leaving but others will hound you to the ends of the earth and it is the same in the west.Instead of talking about culture differences and other crap that has nothing to do with the matter why not think about her feelings,at the end of the day what it really sounds like is that she loves you but you don't love her and your feeling guilty about it hence making this thread.I have been with my Thai wife for nearly 8 years and it took me a long time to see through that cultural generalization bullshit, women are women at the end if the day no matter what part of the world they come from.
  12. Obviously not teaching english

    Im actually teaching Maths.

... moreover: who gives a sh*te, was this your question? Didn't think so ...
No it wasnt my question but seen as though the guy took time out of his busy schedule to try and be a smart arse I thought I would retort.

  13. ToT ran cable pass my place about a year ago. I went in and was told I would get a flyer in the mail within a month. Never got anything. I went back in an asked about getting hooked up. I was told they would start as soon as they had ten people that wanted hooking up. I asked to put my name on the list and fill out the paper work--- no list, not taking applications yet blink.png

I have decided to move out and find a home with high speed internet already installed,if I had of known tot were going to be such a nightmare to deal with I would have done that to begin with.Obviously things are a little different over here you can't make a call and have somebody come out to you within the week like back home which is a pain in the arse.Good luck with your Internet I hope you get it sorted in the end I feel your pain.

Is this your first time living in Thailand?

    totster :)

yes first time actually living here been living and working here nearly 7 months now.Shock to the system to say the least, especially out here in Isaan
  14. Ok we got a lot of people on here saying you should not shout in your class room, well tell me this how do you get the attention of 60 out of control teenagers without letting off some anger once in a while. What works for one person might not work for others, today I walked out of a class with about 20 minutes to go and had one of the senior teachers take over. This is the first time I have walked out on a class but I certainly don't regret it,I don't have the advantage of communication that the Thai teachers have with the students and a lot of them try to exploit that as much as they can.I had one student pointing his feet at me continually throughout the class as a sign of disrespect and the rest were completely oblivious to the fact that I was even in the room while i was trying to teach my lesson. In my honest opinion I think the only form of discipline Thai students really understand is a whack of a bamboo stick and I would gladly oblige if I was allowed to discipline them myself. If the kids were disciplined the right way from an early age there would be no need for physicality. Its not ok to shout at a student but yet it's ok to smack them, yes that makes a lot of sense.

  16. I went to tot chumphae 3 days ago picked up the forms and returned the day after.

The helpful man said we come in 1-2 days, not come yet.

Could be my fault,we have a new antenna 2 km's away,i was thinking it was tot.

Went to look at base station and had ais written on it.

Think will go and see them and who comes first wins.smile.png

Hope someone will come at end of day.sad.png

Has anyone come out to you yet?
  17. I believe what TOT is talking about is their 3G WAN Internet service (I think it's called TOT-Net). As it is a WAN, it has a limited capacity of participants - in this case 30 subscribers. The TOT clerk was trying to tell you that the WAN in your area is fully subscribed.

That full crap doesn't wash with me Ive heard of recent subscribers and people having Internet installed around the town, they told us last week they could do it no problem and now all of a sudden they can't.This service is not 3G it's proper Internet,if I wanted 3G I'd be happy enough using my phone. When your dealing with people who know as little about things as what you do and they are supposed to be the experts it's not easy.

Around town they are close enough to receive cable. If you are 6 kilometers or so out of town, you are beyond their cable reach (really DSL - not cable). If so, your only option is TOT-Net which is a WAN with limited capacity. What the clerk told you last week is irrelevant; if she misinformed you she will never admit to it.

Well our neighbors all seem to have high speed Internet and they didn't have any problems getting it sorted so there shouldn't be any problems. They don't even have our address and we are about 5 minutes drive from their office so I don't see what the problem is,just seems like laziness on their behalf.

  18. I live around 10k from Kranuan and had the same problem. Despite having an old telephone line connected to the house, TOT told me that there were no lines available and I would have to get a minimum of 16 people interested before they would do anything. When I proved to them that I still had a working line connected to the house, they simply cut it off and then said "see, we told you that you don't have a line". I was "fortunate" enough to find a neighbour that wasn't using their line and they transferred it to us. I say "fortunate" because the TOT service has been awful with frequent loss of service lasting anything up to two weeks at a time with no refund for loss of service. A better option is to contact AIS and have them put in an aerial, their service costs around the same as TOT (650 baht per month) and is a lot faster.

Sounds like an option will look into it thanks.
