My condolences to the family for the sad loss. I don’t know the circumstances of the young lad’s death, but Unfortunately in Thailand corruption is rife in every single warp of life & wherever a Bhat can be made it will be. I have never dived myself but have met quite a few in the past and have been told that when the bottles are filled perhaps they don’t get filled to 100% so there’s a scim off the top for the price of the bottle. As I say I don’t know the circumstances but this is a practice that goes on.

This is not true, only the interest is capped. Which all British expatriates were made aware of prior to registering to live in Thailand. Not good when the facts are twisted to make them sound more sensational.

What a daft question. All depends on where you are coming from and going to. Then what time you want to arrive and leave.

Visitors to the stunning island of Koh Nang Yuan in southern Thailand are facing a surprising restriction: no plastic items or styrofoam boxes are allowed.
Koh Nang Yuan, renowned for its three interconnected islets with pristine white sands, has long upheld a strict no-plastic policy. This rule extends to the thousands of tourists who flock to its shores each day, primarily drawn by the island’s vibrant coral reefs and exceptional diving opportunities.
“Tourists must adhere to our rules to help preserve the island’s natural beauty and protect our coral reefs.”
In a bid to retain its unspoilt environment, visitors are prohibited from bringing plastic items, including water bottles, unless they are recyclable. Instead, the island provides guests with water in glass bottles, accompanied by clear instructions on where to dispose of them once empty. Tourists are also urged to use water sparingly during their stay.
This eco-conscious approach stems from the island’s history of environmental challenges. The coral reefs around Koh Nang Yuan were severely damaged by Typhoon Gay in 1989 and further impacted by the El Niño phenomenon in the 1990s. However, through the concerted efforts of the local community and businesses, the reefs have gradually been restored to their former glory.
The ban on single-use plastics has played a significant role in this recovery. It has not only alleviated waste management issues but also provided a cleaner environment for the coral reefs to thrive.
Thanks to these dedicated conservation efforts, the shallow and deep-water coral reefs of Koh Nang Yuan are once again flourishing, offering divers spectacular underwater scenes, reported VN Express.

One of the most beautiful place you’ll ever visit. But hardly news as these rules have been in place for many years now

This is not all “Doom and Gloom” Many expatriate home countries like the UK have a DTA ( dual tax aggrement) with Thailand. So sort your affairs out in your own country first, and you cannot be liable to pay in Thailand as well.

Lived in Thailand for 20 yrs, upon returning to the UK. I really felt like a dirty heathen using paper. I had to get a bum gun from Lazada sent here. Now I look at my family and friends strangely knowing full well that they aren’t as clean as me.

It’s an inanimate object that didn’t fall anywhere. It got to where it is because of human interaction

You just can’t help stupid, why on earth would anyone want to grow something that’s very attractive to elephants next to an elephant sanctuary. If we debated the intelligence of the two species, guess after much consideration who’d come out on top.

I wonder how many companies are called “Narac” in Thailand. Quite a popular name is all I’m saying

Everyone likes to have an opinion. So the crane is mobile, therefore it can only be the operator’s fault for sitting the crane in an unsuitable area. The land wouldn’t have subsided if the crane wasn’t there. But trying to get a Thai own up to a mistake is neigh on impossible, they will blame the nearest inanimate object. Ie flip flops under the pedal.

I do wish reporting standards could be improved. Lampposts are inanimate object’s, they do nothing. However the hapless lorry driver did impale his own vehicle upon the concrete posts. And as sure eggs are eggs will wholeheartedly believe that it’s the concrete post’s fault.

As per the full article, it seems as if the pickup has pulled out without looking, and the bike has hit it.
Bike has racing mods, suspension, tyres etc, so we can assume it was not being driven in a careful or proper manner either.
And... the carnage continues.
My son altered his lights on his bike, so I smashed them up with a hammer. If one installs core values at a young age, just possible they might live a little longer. Not putting the blame on anyone. But if kids aren’t taught they won’t know

You didn’t state what nationality you are. I’m English & two years ago I got a replacement for a soon to be expired one, via the “Tandy Building “ within a week. Service was quicker in BKK than in London.

How pathetic the British judiciary system is, it’s like giving a green light to anyone stupid enough to becoming a drug mule. He should have been given 10yrs, to attempt to set an example. If caught in Thailand he would have got 20
