I traveled around the Eastern Coast over the last month and it was amazing. I love Thailand right now for personal reasons, mainly deserted beaches. However, I know a lot of people that need the money and I think they should reopen. I don't personally believe that covid is any worse than SARS or H1N1 which we were cognizant of, but not hysterical. Furthermore, I think that once covid dies down in the rest of the world the people left in Thailand will not have a proper immune response when they do reopen and a vaccine may or may not be reliable.

This restaurant is close to my house. I went there once when Eatigo had it at 50% discount. I was planning to go this week actually, but i guess not. Idiots.

For the average English teacher @35k a month, they would have to pay 60k+ to meet all requirements and also complete the visa paperwork before they even get to thailand. I cant wait to see how this plays out...

I consider it the tax to pay to live in their little bubble, which is outside the Western woke PC world. Thank God for that!

So basically they aren't flying to the US so they can't seize their planes. Smart choice. Not the moral one. But smart none the less.

Probably PTSD. I've seen this kind of stuff before. He needs to go back to the states and get some psychiatric help.

My takeaway from this:
If going to Chiang Mai. before you depart make sure you download Tinder and get the Gold package one week prior to departure. Chat up girls. Get one to pick you up at the airport; alternatively, You can get multiple girls to get you from the airport and then just go with the prettiest one. Problem solved.

I can't imagine teaching that much and for that long. I think a lot of teachers are going to retire or quit before this year is over.

The guy is trying to find his dad. Maybe it's all he could afford. If it's nothing to you then maybe you can match him 150k to help him and put your money where your mouth is.

The amount of people with ooronavirus hasnt increased, just the availability of testing. The truth is there has probably been lots and lots of undiagnosed cases since december.

Testing is still limited to select hospitals. COV-19 has been here a long time and has infected many more than anyone realizes. Once a faster, cheaper test arrives we will realize how many actually have it and the numbers game will start to look a lot different.

To be honest, Thai kids just copy off of the one kid that actually does it anyways. It's basically pointless.

You can literally type in any name you want, and a random number for your id and it will still log you in. I really doubt it is catching any criminals.

1 or 2 nights in a decent hotel, spending money in restaurants, local markets, beach bars etc.
Haven't been since this TM30 nonsense came up.
Funny you mention this. I was planning to spend my break outside of Bangkok with a couple nights in Pattaya, then a week in Koh Chang, a couple more in Pattaya and then back to my place in Bangkok. Guess what I'm not doing? It's sad that literally flying out of the country is less of a hassle than staying in it.

I thought about going to Chiang Mai last December, but having the world's worst air quality for a brief time made me choose elsewhere instead. Not sure what the air quality is now, but it certainly didn't help their tourism industry.

Do you really think that you represent what the average tourist is looking for?
yes, I do. I travel a lot and I talk to people. I'm not the only one that thinks like this. What a stupid question.

Whatever it’s called we can’t have pavements, footpaths and sidewalks blocked anymore by illegal vendors. Washing disused in buckets. No toilets. Dropping food everywhere to attract vermin. A think of the past. Bangkok is not the third world. The adventure of “street food” best left to other countries.
You're right. We should turn Bangkok into the very societies most of us have sought to escape.

It's not just that the baht is strong, the prices of items in THB have risen. Try getting a drink on Sukumvit for less than 150THB. They've closed most of the small crappy (but really fun) dive bars with the cheap drinks and the bars are closing earlier than countries in the west. There's a lack of nightlife in general (let's face it, it's not what it used to be).
And what's with the random drug testing on the side of the road or mass testing during club raids?
And let's not forget police pulling over your taxi and searching all through your wallet and personal belongings.
Then there's the lack of street food and sidewalk market stalls (you may hate them, but tourists love them because they make the place more vibrant)
Considering you can drink 30thb beers all night in Vietnam or Cambodia without fear of your club getting raided or being randomly drug tested on the side of the road it's no wonder tourism is slowly declining in Thailand.

It wouldn't really be "street food" if they were organized into centers. That's called a market.

I recently went through a que like that when I came back from the states recently. It's the worst I've ever seen it. It took a full 40 minutes to get through. Is tourism really down?

They could drastically reduce the statistic by banning motorbikes for a few days, but then they'd move on to something else that needs to be made safer, then something else, and then before you know it Thailand has become the next Australia where everything is a fine and life is boring and then you negative nancies will complain about how boring it has become and how you want to move to Cambodia or some other third world country with a cheap, relaxed life style and then repeat the process of complaining until things are safer and more boring and then you'll eventually die of old age. <deleted> just save yourselves some time and leave now.

I'm pretty confident they are trying to kill tourism.

Most Thai's have no idea of the concept of "blackface" nor many other parts of American/Western history. I have a fair amount of confidence that this person had no knowledge of blackface and therefore had no racist intentions. This leads to the question: Is something without racist intentions racist just because someone else says it is? If the entertainer had said something negative or derogatory then fair game; however, in this instance the entertainer appears truly amused, much like people who wear sumo suits or sombreros.
Personally, I find trying to force culture down someone else's throat a racist act. It amounts to nothing more than a hostile cultural takeover. I've no doubt there is racism in Thailand, I just don't feel that this is an example of it.

Mini-van drivers drive like maniacs and the only real reason people take them is because they are conveniently located in a central location with plenty of access by buses and other city-vans. Moving them to Mo-chit or Ekkamai would kill the business as they have decent buses that don't drive like maniacs and make you feel nauseated.
What are these parasites on cat's ears ?
