I understand the concept of not using brutal force against peaceful protesters in accordance with international law as they have stated before; however, they are starting to cross the line into becoming terrorists with threats of kidnapping. At some point brutal force may be the only option to calm the streets.

It's also enforced at BIg C and Tesco. I will never understood why it's enforced at the 711's on Kho San rd or Soi 11 though when you can just go out and buy them on the street at all hours of day and night.

I broke my collar bone as child. My father never took me to the hospital because we didn'thave insurance and he didn't want to pay for it. By the time my mother took notice and took me to the hospital (they're divorced) it had already healed on it's own. If it hadn't healed correctly they would hve had to re-break it so it could heal correctly. I don't think you need surgery for it, I didn't, but be careful during the healing process.

One of three possible scenarios for all these guys telling the OP he's being scammed:

1 - they were scammed themselves so they speak from experience, but so many people are that stupid?

2 - they heard that this is what Thai women do and they're just propagating rumour, now that is stupid.

Or it could be that most of us are intelligent enough to know that if you meet a girl on the internet from any country and within days of meeting there's already talks of marriage and money it's generally going to end bad; couple that with Thailand's reputation and it's an even worse idea.

But that would be just assumption on your part, just because it doesn't fit the western model it must be a scam, right!

Western model or not there is a thing called common sense that applies across the board. If you marry someone you're in love with and want to be with that's fine, but flying somewhere to marry someone you've never met and whose family is demanding large sums of money seems a tad bit irrational and illogical.

The very fact that OP is doubting her intentions indicates distrust. Why would anyone want to pay large sums of money to marry a women he doesn't know and doesn't trust?

I had H1N1 when i was stationed at Okinawa, Japan. I can honestly saw that that was one of the worst experiences of my life and i thought i was going to die.

It was dark when i got home and they were just starting to form the road blocks and luckily we went on a road that had no road block. After reading about the taxi's and buses that were smashed up at the road bloacks i guess i was pretty lucky to avoid the "mob mentality." Even though i'm clearly a farang i can't help but think that they would have destroyed the taxi i was in.

I had this happen to me when i ordered some fried chicken from my soi. I just walked away and refuse to come back. It's just 30 baht and nothing worth getting your farang arse kicked.

I am appalled by your narcissistic attitude. What gives you the right to judge other people? Why should i learn Thai when i get around just fine using English? It's an option, not a necessity to learn Thai. Why should i spend the time learning the language of a country that will never accept me as anything more than a "farang"?

So to help Michela get an idea, how much would go towards room cost if working at an international school? I understand 2500 was quoted in a previous post for teaching ESL, i would assume international school would pay more here for a housing allowance?

What is the name of the program from New Mexico you are planning to do? I'm looking at the Teacher Ready program from Florida which is mostly online. The in class teaching portions you can complete at international schools here. The three tests have to be taken in the states though because there are no available test centers. You might want to check it out because it only takes about 9 months and gives you an alternative teaching license in the state of Florida.

Thaivisarun isn't bad, but they leave at 930 in the morning and it takes an entire day to get to baan lam and back and gets back during rush hour. It also includes lunch, whihc you will eat on the bus. One tip though, when at the border don't leave anything on the bus as somebody had something stolen last time i went and we ended up having to stop at a police station and had our bags searched although most of us were fairly confident it was the child beggars that live at the border.

At 60 baht it's about the same price i would have paid in the states for it, if not less even. I don't think it is a bad move to import it considering the large body of foreign persons in the country. I also agree with Mortenaa, it mixes with vodka better since it's carbonated.

At national parks yes. My girlfriend and I were looking for an apartment and she insisted on going alone because if they saw me she knew they would charge more for rent at places if they knew i was a farang because aparently we're all rich. A government hospital insisted i go to a preium clinic. Taxi's frequently refuse to take me when i insist on the meter. And last but not least near my friend's apartment on samsen soi 2 we ordered a grilled squid and were charged 250 baht until we pointed out that the sign said 150 baht argued with her over it for some time until she realized that we weren't tourists and knew better. Yes - It happens in Thailand, and this isn't even the whole list of problems i've faced. Despite all that i still like it enough to stay here though, these are only minor inconveniences.
