when you are attacked in your own home with a gun weilding robber you are entitled to defend yourself, in any other country it would be recognised as self defence, if a thai had done it, it would also be looked at as self defence but because a farang that was 10 years older than the robber did it he is being charged, really shows the anti farang views/laws they have here.

Yeah, yes and no. Living in western, modern and great country where robber has rights too. So killing robber causes you probation or jail back here, which does not matter if its life threatening situation or not. Like we say criminals have more rights than ordinary people and police only job is cleaning bodies afterwards. Weird thinking that all people must have equal rights, whatever they are bad individuals or good. So who is abusing the system... Hard to make "world is happy place and we need to respect everyone" people to understand that they are cause for these problems.

  2. Right, checked some local news, and surprisingly...all were tested when arriving (this means all berry pickers, Thailand, Ukraine etc.). No infections. Took company bus, and travelled to the housing where they did additional testing after a while (during these couple of days they did not leave housing) and guess what, tens of them were tested positive (not people who were helping except company boss several days later). So now under quarantine and most of them back to negative (one of company which hired them). Of course business down and seems to be that officials are giving hard times to companies when checking them and requesting improvements. Of course who to blame, they knew risks and airport testing is not telling the truth. Berry pickers? Knowing that in the right conditions they could earn 3-4 times yearly income in Thailand, anyone would take a risk for that. Anyway seems to be that many of them are back to work earning by doing hard work. I would not go there, knowing how many bugs are awaiting fresh blood ????

  3. Numbers from corporates and governments having own interests are always massaged more or less. Its question of face or billions of dollars sales and share value. Millions of deaths are not the first thing to be considered even it sounds cruel, that have been seen multiple times. Independent studies would do it, but of course, is there any left as corruption seems to be everywhere nowadays. Most likely only way to remove this cancer would be harsh (final) punishment in countries where possible, corporate not protected by government and banning deliveries where it is. So meaning when it causes by purpose thousands of unnecessary deaths or billions of dollars wasted money. Going to happen...naah...too many money men and politicians involved.

  4. Thailand needs to speed up vaccinations. India variant hit here hard few weeks back, like my home town x10 cases compared beginning of the year. But hospitalised and died numbers are at the same level than before. People just don't get the serious symptoms so much anymore. And new cases are mainly 20-29, who most active and not really listening. Vaccination levels are 70% 1st and 35% both, so that's what Thailand needs to achieve fast.

I had my shot of Astra Zeneca 3 weeks ago and I'm happy to report that I had no side effects at all..

I had Pf. and couple days slight fewer, nothing else. After two months second one, and they say it might be worse then. People I know had no any side effects, even after second one. Indian one seems to be tricky one. Even with full vaccination health care workers got it and spread it in and out of hospital. In few days from few to almost 100. And they were using masks and other protective stuff, so it's more spreading than others.

There are basically ZERO cases of people who are in the hospital after receiving their vaccination or serious ill due to reinfection. You can still have the virus and spread it, but you won't show symptoms.

Thats why it's so important we get everyone vaccinated.

According to the health ministry here, there have been 450 cases from 800k few weeks back. Its not a lot but vaccinations are still on the early phase. So risk is minimal, but as said people are able to carry the virus even if vaccinated as well as protection against variants might be much less than main stream ones. So therefore we need to vaccinate most of people to be on the safe side.

Ok besides the fact that this is all <deleted> and that it will never happen; 1,000,000 passengers in one year means about 2,800 a day. With 5 flights a day that would mean that you will

need almost 6 A-380s fully booked!! every day....

does anyone ever do the math before such an event and does any journalist ever check these facts?

In Thailand? Do I need to continue...

  8. Vaccination does not quarantee anything. Hundreds of vaccinated people (one or two times) have got it again here. Many found themselves in hospitals, but the death toll for them is still zero. So when vaccinated people start to travel the virus spreads as well (less than now). Key thing seems to be that everyone have been vaccinated and then it's going to be more on the level of the seasonal flu from mortality point of view. Those countries which lag behind in vaccinations will suffer most, one way or another. Business must go on or how we say...

  9. So traveling should be only for high spenders and high class. Do I see here somekind of cast thinking? Ou boy we are on the way back to 30's on all levels. Some of our friends in this world will make same mistakes by using the same or different arguments, ending up more divided society and everyone knows where it ends up after the critical mass is reached. Its not going solve problems as they will do the same mistakes again, like everywhere else, and end up asking how this happened again.

I wonder how long it took to capture an image where not one person has the mask under their chin ...

    people-mask.jpg

This mask stuff is interesting, use or not. I think its somehow useful, but here back home, nobody uses, several months seen couple. Only health care professionals and old folks support and care people use them daily basis. Others maybe if they have running nose or soar throat. Still numbers of daily cases stay on the level 0-20 in the whole country. Could it be 0 if everyone would use mask or just the same, nobody knows. Maybe it's because we normally like some distance, avoid talking with others, or something else...who knows. And maybe tomorrow tells different story. Anyway, if you get it, stats match with the other countries.

  11. Insurance sales and hospital finance thanks and turns to count piles of greens. Who would not like car loads of money coming from heavens. You don't even need to care too much who has the last trip and who survives, money flows...of course...big if...do they come or not? How many of us are ready to pay, as we know its not necessarily worth of money to pay. Anyway, there is not going to be any Thailand trips for me until 2021, depending how these things end up. Better to be close health care, which is almost free and good quality than over-priced and taking risks top of the disease to face possible greed and careless (keep in mind that Thailand has very good hospitals and I have been always very happy about the service and politeness of the stuff). It would be just great to experience tourist free Thailand and quietness of beautiful country, what it still is if you know where to look at...but yeah, you don't always get what you want, so lets move on and hope all the best. Stay safe and try enjoy different world we are experiencing now.

It is going to be way toooo much to see thousands upon thousands of Chinese running amok. It looks more and more and more that if war breaks out, Thailand will be kissing the side of their Chinese Master's obedient ring.

Better to have exit plan then. Its getting ugly really fast when pro-China mob comes out in Thailand. The same way Aussies have seen it here and there. Honestly saying I am surprised how calm guys are there. Try it here and it's going to be totally opposite reaction by working class and young generation, no understanding and calmness at all. That's why extreme parties are becoming stronger every year, unfortunately. Being in China long time and like people, most of time, but latest stuff from the government is beyond my values and what I can accept. Hope that things go fine and there is chance to visit Thailand soon, but expectations are not high.

"Hotel meeting rooms and convention halls for meetings of limited number of people" - I wonder who defines what is "meetings of limited number of people"?

Yeah, and back home many of cases have been tracked back to these 2-3 people meetings, even few politicians got the virus from their assistants and rooms are not small so f2f meetings should be avoided. Skype works well so not a problem.
