  1. yellowboat,

thank you very much for your opinion! I will consider your advice!

    JHolmesJr,

    booji,

thank you for your reply! Networking is not my strong side and of course I realize that that is my problem. I'm definetly not going back to BKK before I secure a job offer - been there. Thats basically what I was doing 2 years ago - I came to BKK and started to search for a job - I failed to get even a teaching position or position is sales. Thats why I moved on to do my masters. Just sharing)

    little mary sunshine,

    thank you!

    Suradit69,

thank you! I totally realize that and work in this direction too.

    johnnybangkok,

oh so helpful, thank you very much!

    Pdaz,

    here is hoping!

    fletchsmile,

thank you very much for your time and detailed response! I am very realistic about myself and my skills and I totally agree with you. This is very discouraging how many rejections I get based on my experience not matching the positions I apply for. I find it to be very hard to pass HR people who of course do not have time to analyze my CV and intentions. My experience comes from my university years - I just had stable jobs to pay bills, but during my master studies I greatly concentrated on what I like - market research and branding, my master thesis was an applied research on youtube as advertising platform. I have always though that having a work experience related to the studies is a great plus but turns out it works againist me now.  Thank you very much again!

    NMKDom,

    thanks! Ill check them out!

    JayBird,

yep I know( thats quite pathetic( Thanks!

  2. Good morning everyone,

I will be very grateful to hear your opinions regarding my chances of getting a professional job in Thailand. I am looking for a legal long term employment preferably in BKK but any other location will work as well. Given my profile my questions are: is it worth trying? Are there any employment agencies to consider? Here are some highlights about me:

    - Female, 28

    - Ready to move and start immediately

    - Fluent English and Russian, basic Thai

    - Lived in Thailand for about 2 years

    - Attended Thammasat University as a part of my master program, where I studied GAMs

    - Bachelor Honors in Financial Management

    - German Master Degree in International Business and Economics

    -  8+ years of experience in account management, credit control and customer service in a busy international environment (I have always worked and studied at the same time)

    - Interested in brand internationalization and development, influencer marketing, marketing research, data analysis, e-commerce

    - Not interested in teaching, guiding, real estate sales

What do you guys think? Any tips on where to start?

I will greatly appreciate any feedback!

  3. Hey can anyone advise where i can check affordable tickets to Thailand? Airport doesnt matter but Frankfurt is closest. Im a bit confused now. I always bought round trip tickets for around 500 euro with not too much searching and now the cheapest I could find is 450 for one way?? I plan to go late Jan and return end of Feb.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

  4. Hi guys. Im writing an essay for university about pantip.com. cant read thai so I wanted to ask you to share some stories from pantip that you might have read or heard from someone - just in short - so i could add examples into my essay. The point of my essay is how pantip influences real life so the stories like that would be appreciated (like the one i found in wiki - some guy posted a photo of naked celebrity and ended up in jail and stuff like that).

    Million thanks in advance!

  5. Sadhukar, You know what...i was in that bus with my friend (thai) who i know really long and who is a really kind person. So yes my friend started to take photos too. And yes when i freaked out my friend says it is just the proof why we would be late for a meeting. Da <deleted>??? Do people really need evidence like photos and video that you were late because someone got really sick on the bus?? I know it is not but i cant figure out the explanation. Also other cases - when ppl just photoshooted crash victims etc - they were not late they just wanted to take photos. What for pls somebody explain me.

  6. Thai girls are so desperate to look european with all their nose surgeries and whitening creams. Why then for God's sake they dont shave their legs??? Nobody could answer me so far. Just curious.

And my second question which is more serious. Here are the examples of situations Ive witnessed. I was on a bus and one girl felt seek. She was with a friend and smth really bad happened to her. Smth like a stroke i guess. Bus stopped in the middle of highway and waited paitently for the ambulance. All passengers were sitting in their places starring at the girl and gossiping her. Once the ambulance arrived many started to take photos and videos. And the girl said im sorry 1 million times leaving the bus for the ambulance car. My question is <deleted>??? Why ppl havecto make photos of a situation like that? Whats wrong with them?? This is so wild for me. Another example i witnessed the other day from a distance being on the bridge and crossing the street - car/motorbike crash on the road. Motorbike driver was lying on the road. And again ppl on the bridge started photoshooting not even embarresed of what they do.

Im not the type of person who will discuss other ppls "faults" like level of education life goals the way to dress etc. I have no right for it. Im a stranger in this country and nobody invited me here. But when it comes to questions like my second one i really want to know the answers..

  8. That it occurs at same time could be someone coming home, perhaps drunk, and kicking the dog on the way in.

It would be very odd for butchering for meat to take place at night. And they would certainly not skin alive, they'd kill them first.

A kick wont cause 1 minute scream..

Not that odd if they get ready for a night market sale..

  9. 3 minutes past the hour is super creepy.. im really sorry you have to go through all this.. i really want to believe it is just some animal you are unfamiliar with..like i have some crazy birds around my place who start talking at 5.30am, but they do not stop for holidays..i also want to believe that somebody really had to give a painful medical treatment to his dog as your dad says. It doesnt mean that the dog is super sick, could be just an injection or smth for a chronical disease. Some dogs are just terrified with any medical procedures and would scream like crazy even if it doesnt hurt - i know that for sure. And i know thais as pet lovers so i think its no wonder somebody takes good and regular care of his pet. I hope so. But. With all the other facts you describe i think my words wont comfort you untill you know the truth. Actually before i read your dads opinion the only thing that came to my mind is that some street food seller found a way to save money on beef or pork meat..if you know what i mean..i come from a more civilized country than thailand but there are places where you can buy some meet dish and you ll never know you just ate cat or dog..im sorry to say the above but taking into account the street food sellers income it is easy to believe some of them can decrease their expenses that way..

  10. Without any idea what you would like to study, study doesn't seem to be an option.

A TEFL or TESOL will help you find a job, but only for a language school. For elementary or secondary schools you need to have a teaching degree in order to get a teaching license. But teaching is a job you must like or both you and the students won't have a good time.

You could get a temporary waiver of the teaching license, but that will only be for a few years and you must have an university degree for that.

so theoretically one can work as a teacher in a language school as long as he wants and immigration wont give problems with visa?

  11. Hi, guys

    My questions are:

    - how is it at all possible that almost anyone can teach english and get visa easily and stay and work in Thai for years while specialists with university degrees have to go through the long procedure of getting wp or cant find work at all? It is a rhetorical question. I just try to understand.

    - I want to get TEFL or TESOL certificate which I believe will secure my permanent stay in Thai. For example this course *(Direct link edited out)* guarantees placement. Do such courses provide student visa for the term of study and more importantly where am I supposed to get such certificate if Im not a native speaker? Will that influence my employment?

    - Is it possible to get a job as a teacher in a regular school for thai kids, not just language school having only TEFL\TESOL certificate and being farang? I dont care about salary.

-what problems do teachers face extending visas or if you are a teacher you can stay as long as you want?

    Thanks in advance.

  12. Hi guys, I really need your advice on my current situation. Read a lot of information and have a total mess in my head now and no understanding of what to do. My questions may sound naive, pls apologize me for that.

My aim is to stay in Thailand permanently and legally.

Now im running out of my student visa (first year thai language course). In my school they said that starting from year 2 it wont be that easy to get student visa as they will test my thai in the embassy (just speaking). Its pretty stressful and unreliable for me as I havent succeeded much in thai language.

I was trying to find a job which would give me a work permit upon my qualification. That was a total fail which is no surprise.

So what I see for myself now is either risk and try to get second year student visa for thai language course. Or enter some university to get a thai degree and then search for a job. Which is totally abstract as I have no idea which university is nice but not super expensive and which qualification I should get.

It seems to me that the most realistic for me is to teach English. My questions are:

    - how is it at all possible that almost anyone can teach english and gett visa easily and stay and work in Thai for years while specialists with university degrees have to go through the long procedure of getting wp or cant find work at all? It is a rhetorical question. I just try to understand.

    - i guess to make my visa situation secure I need to get TEFL or TESOL certificate. For example this course (link edited out) guarantees placement.

-any other thoughts on my situation are welcome.

    Thank you in advance.
