  1. Today I've been in bike shop near BigC. They sell scooters and 150-300cc big bikes there. Absolutely no Honda big bikes, only Yamaha and Suzuki. One year ago this shop had mostly Honda big bikes. I suspect Honda stopped making cbr150 and cbr300 and now is updating factory process to new 150 and 300cc models. I think we will see new cb150 and  cb300 soon.

  2. 1. Copy of your passport with your signature. Visa page and passport page.

    2. Residence certificate

    3. You give green book and warranty book to buyer.

    4. Get two documents from transport department, put my signatures there, but did not fill forms, cause zero knowledge of Thai, let's buyer fill the form.

  3. They sell now at Yamaha dealer 2016 year models with reduced price and free premium insurance. I am now a happy owner of Mt7. I can give MT7 excellent review. Motorcycle is very comfortable, a lot of space for legs, very soft suspension. It rides like a boat, i do not feel patches and holes on road at all. Before I had Yamaha R3 with hard suspension, very little space for legs and even no rubber on footpegs. I felt pain in knee when riding over concrete roads with a lot of patches. With Mt7 all knee problems had gone. This bike is so well balanced, even on ultra low speed i do not need to put foots on ground.  Engine amazing, it starts from traffic light so fast with very little throttle. Very smooth cornering and excellent handling.

  4. From my personal experience, i feel comfortable even on cheapest scooter like fino or scoopy, but majority of  300cc bikes are not comfortable for long rides. Very little space for legs and too much lean forward. I did not tried KTM 390 duke, but from spec and picture it looks like exception and should be very comfortable, have highest seat and 0 lean forward. Honda CB300f also not so much bad as 300cc kawasaki and yamaha.

I was impressed by Yamaha Mslaz, tall seat and very upright position, but no ABS, same as all 150cc.

    Recommendation to the Op;

If you had difficulties with an auto scooter (which 9 y/o kids can ride - both brakes on the h/bars, twist & go), stay away from any powered 2 wheeler and stick to bicycles. And cars. I'm serious. You are a danger to yourself and others around you.

From my personal experience all my friends come to Thailand and lived here for few years have at least one motorcycle or scooter accident. I think there is a big room in improving safety of scooters and motorcycles.

In case of panic braking for example on motorcycle without ABS and no combined braking  there is a high chance driver react or start braking too late or lock wheels due to overbraking and falls. You need press clutch first and right after press both brakes one by foot and one by hand. You also need to consider the fact hand reaction is faster than foot, especially if you ride in motorcycle boots and yout foot is somewhere on foot peg.

If you drive motorcycle with automatic  transmission, combined braking system and ABS, you only need to press one brake by hand with full force. This give you and advantage for about 1 second, and zero chance to lock wheel.

Front and rear brakes on a bike should be controled independantly  , as you dont want the front brake coming on half way around a bend. Many items can be adjusted for size , but not by an electric switch , as in a car. A correctly set-up / ridden automatic wont cause an accident.  Get well soon.

Kawasaki Z250sl user manual, section Safe operation.

"Use Both Front and Rear Brakes When applying the brakes, use both the front and rear brakes. Applying only one brake for sudden braking may cause the motorcycle to skid and lose control.

I much prefer a manual gearbox on car and motorbike, disc brakes front and rear

    (separately operated on bike)

carburetor and aircooled is fine too... less to go wrong.

Modern automatic transmission beat manual in all aspects, less fuel consumption and faster acceleration.

I can understand 10 years ago people choose manuals, cause they had better mileage and acceleration, but now automatic wins.

  8. Before moving to Thailand i never rode motorcycles, but only cars and bicycles. I was very happy with every car and bicycle I bought and had no problems with them. Basically if you by a car or bicycle even the cheapest, you and every family member can use it with comfort.

Bicycles. When I was a child i have many bicycles, all of them had adjustable seat and handlebar. Any person of any size can use same bicycle and ride it in comfort no matter is he or she tall or short. Even the oldest bicycles had slipper clutch and allow not only to raise handlebar but also to rotate them for better rider comfort. Gears can be shifted on modern bicycles just by pressing buttons on handle bar, very easy even for 7 years baby. There are also a lot of bicycles with combined braking, so you press one brake and it stops both front and rear wheel. If you have bicycle without combined braking you can buy it and install for about 50$.

Cars. For many years cars have automatic transmissions of different types CVT, Standart auto or DST. You shift to drive mode and car moves slowly without throttle, you apply acceleration and it runs, very very easy. Every car even 50 years old have combined braking. You press break and it stops all 4 wheels. All cars sold in Thailand have ABS now and many entry levels cars have traction control. In car you can adjust everything for your comfort: mirrors, seat position, can move it forward, backward, up, down and even change an angle, good! All cars on market have low revving engines with most power and torque in middle or low rev range, this approach reduce fuel consumption and make cars easy to drive.

Motorcycles and scooters. Only scooters and Honda DST have automatic transmissions, everything else is just a crap manual. The problem is scooter and DST auto  does not work same as cars. You put in on drive or start scooter and it stays without moving, you turn throttle slightly it vibrates but still not move, you turn it more it run to fast. Many people told you just need to more practice and you get how to use it. Yes I got how to use and can drive now both manual big bike and cvt scooter, but the price for learning  was a motorcycle accident with rib injury due to how auto scooter work. If auto on scooter worked same as on car i did not have this accident.

Motorcycles and scooters with combined braking are very rare 96% of them have one separate brake control for every wheel. You need to press two brakes to stop two wheels, in car you need one brake for 4 or even 6 wheels. I know an opinion it is not so much difficult to use two brake. Yes i can go barefoot and can eat just with hands without fork and spoon, just eat porridge with your left hand and wash hands after breakfast.

There is no motorcycle on the market with adjustable seat, footpeg and handle bar. You buy a motorcycle and it does not fit your body, you can only sell it or maybe rebuild. You cannot buy a motorcycle for use by many family members, for someone seat will be very high for another no space for legs. Due to the fact big bikes are not adjustable for different body types, at least motorcycle producers could put size body size on motorcycle, same as with clothes( L, M, XL) at least when you are going to buy first bike you know what bike could fit you.

Slipper clutch is very rare even on modern motorcycle, but all 30 years old bicycles had slipper clutch. More than half of motorcycles have crap high revving engines, due to this factor not comfortable to ride in city and have same fuel consumption as cars.

    Final worlds.

I wish for all motorcycle designers and motorbike companies workers and owners to drive cars with manual transmission only with four brakes pedals, each pedal for every wheel. With absolutely not adjustable seat, distance between pedals and seat depends on car size. If you are tall but bough compact car and later discovered you have no space for legs you have two options sell car and buy bigger one with 3 litres high revving engine but bigger space for legs or go to service they rebuild car and move seat backward but you lose warranty on car. Also no full front windshield in stock. Let them drive cars like that until they start selling usable motorcycle with fully automatic transmission working same as car, with combined braking, low rev engine, fully adjustable seat, handlebar, footpeg and windscreen.

  9. NMax is amazing scooter, very comfortable riding position. I can seat on  it like a cruiser. It handles road perfectly fine even at 70-90 kmph. ABS on both front and rear,  excellent braking, very easy to ride. Very good wind protection, when running on my sport bike i get sand in my eyes and incoming bugs heat my neck, this never happens on Nmax.

I have only one small complain  - mirrors vibrates at slow speed, but i do not mind.

I would also like to see more Honda models with gear indicators but what you said is not true. My Africa Twin has a gear indicator and the Fireblade has one too. Bet there are other models as well.

Not that this has anything to do with riding with a pillion. I like this feature but in no way would this be a deal breaker.

The CB650F is a pretty good choice. Yamaha MT07 could be also interesting. A Ninja/Z300 wouldn't keep you happy for long if you are bored of Forzas already.

You know mainstream Honda models cb150, cb300,  cb500 and cb650 have all quite old design with very little changes for long time. Just for comparison MT07 is 2015 year model based on new platform. Ninja/Z 650 is a 2017 year model on new platform too. CB650 was built in 2014 on old 2011 platform, if you see pictures 2011 year CBR600F it  looks almost same as CB650f, same swing arm, same engine just increased in size little. CB650F is heavier than its Yamaha and Kawasaki rivals by 20 kilos, more fuel consumption, no gear indicator, no slipper clutch. Even though CB650 have the highest seat, it has less space for foots, due to foot peg located very high. From my personal opinion CB650 is overpowered for Thai roads and is not definitely a beginner bike( i do not count scooters as a first bike).  I would better stay away from CB650, even CB500 is much more user friendly.

  11. I am riding Yamaha R3 with my wife now. It is perfectly fine motorcycle for two people. Motorcycle manufacturers make new models with gear indicators, i cannot imagine how i can ride manual without gear indicator, you need always to remember gear number in your head.

Unfortunately Honda did not update all its models for long time and has no motorcycles with gear indicators.  Kawasaki has but only on this year Ninja and Z 650. Kawasaki Ninja/z 300 have very short distance between seat and footpeg and too much lean. Yamaha R3/Mt3 have slightly better ergo.

I am thinking now to upgrade from R3 to Ninja/z650. I am selling now my R3, if you are interested i can make you a good discount it almost new just 6 months old.

  12. I am selling my lovely Yamaha R3. I bought it in February 2017 and have only 16xx kilometres on it. Done first maintenance in Yamaha dealer. Bike is almost new and have custom more comfortable seat, have no accidents. I will provide a set of frame sliders for free.

    The price is 150 000.

Test ride is available, but if you want to test ride you need to give a deposit, If you crash bike then you buy.

I am selling it because I want bigger bike.

All sorted now according to Honda. I'd thoroughly rrcomend the CBR300 to you. It is a lot cheaper than the Ninja and is pretty much as good in the real world. I'm enjoying mine now the weather is good.

I just bought Yamaha R3. It is more expensive, but has gear indicator and 2 cylinders. My friends who ride bikes for long time told me what one big cylinder on 300cc bike can be imbalanced which can cause engine problems and vibrations at speed, so better have two cylinders or buy 150cc bike with one cylinder.

  14. I am looking forward to buy new motorcycle cause riding scooter is boring. I was in shop and seat on both CBR300r and CB300f, bikes look good and price is much better than from competitors. Kawasaki z250 costs almost 30 000 baht more and have no ABS. Does anyone knows if 2017 years models still have problems with crankshaft?

Yes the R15 looks good but its still only a 150cc bike..... not enough power IMO.

I do not see any opportunity in Pattaya where I can use even 155cc bike in full power. Most of the roads there are safe to drive 60 kmh. Sukhumvit can be faster up to 100kmh. Still not enough to reach  max speed of 155cc bike. Only road Pattaya - Bangkok is a place where you can drive really fast.
