Clearly in this case my 'irony alert' hadn't failed at all. the poster really thinks that muslims are responsible for keeping wages down and undermining the working class .

    Responsible?

"The business oligarchs and dishonest politicians behind this policy ...."

Clearly it's your rational faculties and reading comprehension that are failing. :coffee1:

"cheap labour, keeping wages down" etc. doesn't only apply to Islamic immigrants!

Edit - Or has my irony alert failed .

    Unfortunately, it has failed. :jap:

The majority of the thugs in Malmo as well as the hordes of immigrants are muslims. These primitive islamic immigrants have no respect for women, homosexuals, jews, atheists, apostates (especially apostates). They have destroyed their own countries, arrived in Europe's welfare paradise, and now they are destroying communities such as Malmo. Tragic.

And please don't call them "refugees". Refugees are women, children, the elderly, as well as those persecuted by islamic majorities.

Nope, one has to provide evidence which can be verified by the dutch tax office. Apart from the fact that it implicates more than just that, (cannot be botherd to explain it all) it also makes it impossible for a dutch person to get a statement if the income does not come from the Netherlands but from a different country.  It is not taxed in the Netherlands and therefore no statement can be given with the new rigid rules.

Correct, and that's why the website's update states that this new policy is under reconsideration. The Dutch foreign ministry will renegotiate with the Thai authorities to find an acceptable solution.

As it now stands, if you don't currently work or earn income in the Netherlands, but work in Thailand, then you can't marry a Thai.

Wow, 23 pages and still going strong.  It has a long way to go to beat CM's favorite thread, the venerable "Rain" thread, started in 2009 and still hanging in there at 123 pages.

I think I'll bring up the subject at the Ladies Lunch on Thursday, if there's a lull in the conversation.   This thread, not rain.

Is the Ladies Lunch light on the whoring and heavy on the intellectual side? Then expect this dashingly handsome farang to turn up for some fascinating conversations. Please send the snooty OP an invite too.
