  1. Some parents use the kids as leverage- because they can. They are thinking about short term gain and to hell with the consequences. In these cases everyone looses, but especially the children. Parents that truly love their kids will not stoop to thise despicable tactic. The parent beibg held hostage must not succumb to retaliation, rather try to work through the issue with the unreasonable ex spouse. Not easy and requires an immenese amount of self control.

OP, hope things improve for you.

    Parents?

When was the last time you heard of a man behaving like this?

yesterday. but he doesn't want money, he wants revenge

  2. my inner tube has been down since noon. true docsis 30/3 package. been lucky to get 20 lately.

    bangkok, sukhumvit 11.

a call to true service promised they would look into it and call me back. they didn't.

i called them again, there is now a message saying due to broadband enhancements i will not have service until 5:57 pm (thats right, not 6pm, 5:57 pm)

this is the third time in as many months, thankfully this time it is happening on a weekend and is not causing me a loss of income.

for years, my internet was bulletproof, lately it has been utter <deleted>.

true has been promising me some sort of compensation for ever, yet it never seems to materialize.

they promise to send techs, they don't come or come a day or two late.

that said, it seems the call center girls are getting much better at blagging.

these first world problems will be the death of me.

  3. this isn't your country thank god. and if i rented a minivan to get me somewhere i would not be to happy at 80 km/h.

simply put, my family would not be caught dead (literally) on a bus or public minivan.

self drive, fly or a private minivan/car hire where you can control the driver is the only way.

anything else is a false economy.

if i cant afford a couple thousand baht to get there, i cant afford to go there, period.

  4. True does do a lot of cross promotions, where they're trying to leverage their various services together in bundles.

For example, right now, they have a package for I think 699 a month that includes a cable TV service package, a 12 MB internet package and I think their cable-based telephone calling service.

But the 12 MB internet plan is slower than the 14 Mb cable plan I'm paying 699b per month for now. The cable calling service includes some free calling, but only to other True numbers, and to other numbers it was something like 3b per minute, which is very high, and the cable package was mostly their junky channels. So I didn't bite.

But it's always good to keep an eye out for lesser tie-ins... They often have discount packages for customers who have both True Move mobile service and Internet or Cable TV, where having one gets you a discount on the other.

That is... if you can decipher True's increasingly Adobe Flash-based, Thai only web content, where often no English pages are provided and the Flash content can't be Google Translated.

true websites contain no almost no flash, they are all static images

  6. The father seems to be scared to go to the school alone to talk to the director, and head of the teachers.....I am sure that his son, hadn't done anything wrong? Of course while he is doing this his son has to suffer in school, any problems in the school have to be dealt with now, not tomorrow, and not next week. We must wait and hear all sides of this story before blaming the teachers outright. I have worked in Thai schools for nearly ten years, and things ain't what they seem all the time.

what difference does it make if the kid has done something wrong if he is being beaten?
