Why use a Visa Service when you can get all the answers just asking in Thai immigration offices???? Visa Services will tell what is good for them to make money. Are you an American citizen?? American citizens do not need at all to show bank accounts for any kind of visa, just the right amount of monthly income statement very easy to get. Not income documentation need it to get the statement.

I live here for 5 years now. I am 65. I am American. Just go to the US Embassy related to your location. Make an appoitment on its Internet site, fill the statement saying that you have a $2800 monthly income. Do not need to show any documentation about. Pay $50 to the teller, and wait for the teller to call you back. Sign the statement under oat, and go to the Thai immigration office, not bank account needed. Bring lease contract or any document about your addres in Thailand and a copy of all pages of your passport, entry card, and 2 pictures. Pay 1,900 THB. You done.

Do not do this before 15 days or your due date at the Thai Immigration office. You will have to do this every year, and show up to the immigration office every 3 months with the same set of copies to just say Hello to some beautiful Thai officers for free. Who knows?

When I first started to come to Thailand, I setup my own bank accounts, rented my own apartment, bought my own food, did my own washing (organized laundry later), etc, etc, etc. So, I could live here by myself, no problem.

But, to answer the title of the OP, could you settle in Thailand without help from a woman, the answer would have to be probably not. Sometimes I need a controlling feature in my life, one of the many things my wife has provided for me since I've been living here.

Good to see this...after reading so many negative things about Thai women. Bad people are in any country of the world..and it is your choice to meet or be with them, and will be your choice or not to adapt and understand their way of life and thinking. And I also agree....if you are an independent person you will appreciate the company of an attentive Thai woman. If you are a 'dependent"....you will be taking advantage by any women in any country...LIke in any other country or situation...men have to take the time to find the right women.....and particularly in Thailand women can help men a lot, ask the hotel and restaurant owners, and any farang in business here...Just be fair.

You are right! The croc let him go! ...but this things with croc trainers happens a lot....just a small touch or drop inside its mouse and its will bite..and torn the catch to kill it...He was lucky!!!!

My Thai wife tailgates all the time...and responds to my complaints saying..."is the Thai way"....A French friend of us..do exactly the same saying........." is the French way".....and I know it is not different with Italians and Russians...Thai drivers are not the only ones....
