  1. I'd like to change my non-imm. 'B' to an non- imm.'O' without leaving the country or without going to Bkk.  I'd like to know:

Can I do this in Nong Khai?

How many days before my application should I have the 400,00 baht transfered from the UK to the Thai bank?

Get the form “Application for Visa Status Alteration. (TM.86)” from your local immigration office. They will take your application – I gather for “support Thai wife” – and if necessary forward it to Bangkok for approval.

Remit the money from UK to Thailand at any time before submitting your application. With your application, you will have to show proof of the money being in your account, i.e. don’t spend it all before that date.

If you continue to be a working man (work permit) and submit documents to show that your monthly salary is at least THB 40,000, you won’t need to bring in money from abroad.

    Brilliant Maestro. :o

I also like you avatar - simple, but it says it all.

  2. Really enjoyed 'The Island'. Actually went there to see 'WOW' but it had already started and all the other movies were in Thai.

At first I thought it might be a modern version of 'Logan's Run' (which I enjoyed). Myself and the missus were impressed with the story and the visuals. Great sound at the the Major Cineplex. :o

  3. Yes you can (I've done it already).

The AIS GPRS MMS profile was already configured when I bought the phone.  :o

Thanks yeti. Did you buy your phone in Thailand?

I was wondering because my new phone was bought here in the UK. I had to register with the network here for the multi-media service before I could use it. Will I have to register with 1-2-call when in Thailand?

    Cheers. :D

  4. Have bought in my own seeds for years usually the smaller sweeter varieties and they have done ok.Never had blight or virus so far.

Thanks everyone. My favourite is the cherry tomato. I've got seeds of three varieties bought here in the UK which I'll bring over and try to grow.

I do like tomatoes 'on the vine' here in the UK. Any tips on that method? :o

  5. I had my daughter in Bamrungrad, well my wife did. The doctors there are very good and the package was 40,000 for a cesaerian, which is what they lie to you telling you that you need(due to doctors tee times). However the extras were 70,000, now i know to have not been necessary, which really pisses me off. There is some funny business going on with that hospital. They are run as a business, and it feels like it at times. Stick to a Thai hospital and go to Phaya Thai, they are an excellent hospital and I a couple of mates whose kids were born there.

My little bundle of screaming terror was born at the Thai International Hospital on Koh Samui - which I'd not recommend. 40K for a C section there. Long story, but despite hours of warning, they didn't have a doctor there so they got a local gov't doctor who was a total hack. My wife has a 40cm + scar across her belly thats at least 2 cm wide, and looks like a 4 year old opened her up with scissors. And I honestly could have done a better job stitching her up.

We were going to Bumrungrad before, although the place was a bit cold and far to businesslike for my own tastes. We are now going to Sukhimvit Samekivej (spelling is quite wrong, sorry!) around Thong Lo 13 and are happy with it. We even went in for follow up one time and there was no charge.

Anyways, water under the bridge now. :Dheres my little guy They won't let me post it, but heres the link.

Nice looking family. Well done mate. :o

  6. :o

Congratulations Minbari. My wife and I are expecting our first child in December. I'm very excited about. I'm 48, maybe left it a little late, but what the ###### I will have more time now to take care of the child. That is something I would not have been able to do when I was in my 20's and 30's.

Good luck for you families future.

Well done minbari. All the best to you and your family! :D

Our first is due in December. We're both 36 and had decided not to have kids. Now it's happened I'm so glad we changed our mind's. :D

  7. I must admit it doesn't feel all that safe. If you're sitting on the beach at night, there is some lighting, but if anything should happen, you'd find yourself about 100m from the main street and still have to run through a darker area, under the palm trees, to get back to the street. There is a police station somewhere in the middle of that strip.

I usually hang around the northern end, just after  where the beach ends (1st curve). You can park the car under the palm trees and rent chairs from the first food stall, it's not on the beach but there's still a wonderful view with the wafes crashing on the rocks. I wouldn't swim in that area anyway.

    I like that area too.

Nothing major has happened to me there but it was the first place in Thailand where kids would stare at you they cruised along in their cars/trucks in the sneering way they do back here in this area of the UK. Also, their driving can be dangerous at the end near the public toilets (near the roundabout with big beach sign on it). That part seems a bit seedy to me. Nice in the daytime though.
