  1. I have to concur Nick the Pizza is absolutley foul bland tasting crap. And worth avoiding. Sounds a little harsh but I'm astounded anyone could seriously recommend it.

The best pizza Ive found in Pattaya is a small shop on 3rd road Scobys opposite Soi Diana inn, they deliver til late 4am if i recall. 038720752.

Pizza 2000 in View talay is nice but still doesnt come close.IMO

  2. I've used the roads near the Village as a safer thoroughfare driving option between 3rd and Sukhumvit. I'm sure I'm not the only one so I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed the amount of traffic? Thanks.

On Khao Talo the traffic can get backed up when trying to get onto Sukhumvit during rush hour. The housing estates themselves its negligable.

  3. Im currently renting in Ekmongkol 3. Havent had any problems in the 4 Months or so Ive stayed here. Apart from Khao Talo turning into the river rapids when it rains.

The rents vary depending on size, the house I have 2 bed townhouse for 10,000b per month and Ive seen one twice the size for 15,000b per month.

Communal pool towards the rear of the estate.

I would have prefered to get something nearer third road in the village estate which someone mentioned earlier. But all in all Ekmongkol isn't a bad deal.

  4. American and three Water Police Arrested on a Variety of Charges.

Three days earlier, Mr Whittaker had been arrested by the Water Police in front of the VC Hotel in south Pattaya after they discovered him in possession of 100 ecstasy tablets as well as a loaded pistol, a sub-machine pistol, six loaded magazines, spare bullets and 600,000 baht in cash.

Wonder what this guy was up to ?

Up to no good, by the looks. :o

  5. Firefox has better security than IE and outclasses it in functionality. Tabbed browsing is a great improvement. I also use Opera occasionally but find it a little blah. Very fast surfing though. On good thing about IE is you can double click and it remembers PW and logins. Firefox you have to start typing for it to remember.

  6. It will be impossible ........ because a multi-entry tourist visa does not exist!!

Best you can hope for is a triple (3 x 60 day stays) valid for 6 months if the man is in a good mood, otherwise you'll end up with a double entry.

Can you not spare the time for a border run?? Overstaying by even 2 days can get you deported if you don't make it to the airport, but it's unlikely to affect whether you can get a visa or not.

I know you've heard it before but, rule number one for staying in Thailand, don't overstay, ever.

Yeah thats what I meant triple or double entry tourist visa.

Unfortunatley I can't do a visa run. As my business in the UK requires i'm available online between the hrs of 3pm to Midnight up until the 26th June. Plus I don't believe i'd be allowed back into Thailand on my automatic 30 day visa unless i have a booked flight out of the country.

  7. Just wondering if anyone thinks I will have any problems obtaining a Thai Tourist visa in Penang.

My situation is that my current Visa (Non Immigrant 'O' expires) on the 24th of June, it has been fully extended by the allowed 14 days and 7 days.

Unfortunately I'm unable to leave Thailand until the 26th June because of other commitments.

Will there be any problems getting a Multiple entry Thai Tourist Visa with a 2 day overstay in my passport?

    British Citizen.

    Any help appreciated.

  8. Newsgroups are reliable, provided you use a good server. And that usually means paying for it.

Personally I use http://newsgroupdirect.com/ which has proven to be very reliable 99% completion and 100% all groups available. You get a free newsrover application which is pretty good. Best of all its like shit off a shovel compared to P2P in Thailand. :o

Loads of pay servers give free trials so its worth shopping around and testing them to see which suits you.

  9. I had a problem with my Compaq laptop last year and the power plug connection to the motherboard. took it to Pantip and was quoted 6000B for a fix. Thought this was a little high and took it to a local shop in Pattaya. The bloke fixed it like new for 200b.

  10. That's what I'm using!  Powerproducer.  Is there a limitation on the DVD Burner?  The files are DIVX avi files and they are indeed 330 - 350 MB's.  BTW you have all the BG episodes?

There shouldnt be any limits. There are different settings, I use the longplay setting on video quality selection and im pretty happy with the transfer. Play around with it. Its also worth trying different discs. I believe I used dvd -r for the galactica episodes. Got all of them so far Season 1 & 2 very good tv.

Edit: BTW make sure if your using Powerproducer that you have Divx player installed with a good codec package. It drove me crazy when I first started burning as it wouldnt burn some Divx Avi's properly.

  11. I was wondering if anyone has done any traveling in LOS by train? I did a search here and the only posts that came up werent really any help. Just stated that they are slow and cheap. I traveled extensively throughout S. Korea (20 years ago) by train and found it a great way to see the contry. Confortable and hassle free. No rush, my next trip, in Nov, is allready planned out. Just doing research for the following trip. I want to head up north and northeast towards Cambodia, Ankor Wat. Thanks :D

I haven't done much travelling by train but i did go from Bangkok to Surat Thani via sleeper, on my way to Samui. Takes a while but I thought it was great. Bit of a novelty when you come from a country you can travel from end to end within 4 hours :o

  12. 1) Whats the chances of a condo for around the 4,000 - 7,000?

    2) Whats the average rates for electricity for an a/c condo?

    3) What can i expect to pay for broadband?

    4) What can i expect to pay for living costs for a thai girl and myself per month, based on a quiet lifestyle and she's not high maintenance?

Hope people from Pattaya can share their views. I plan to go there in January

1)Chances are good for a single room in this price range, from personal experience View talay Condo 1 is pretty good.

2)Average elec water is about 2000b per month with aircon maybe more.

    3) Broadband through TOT in View Talay is 1000b per month 1meg connection, youll need to pay out to get a phoneline installed unless there is one already this is about 5000b one off and can be done pretty quick. You need to go with the condo owner to the TOT office to sign for it.

Broadband for me was installed within 24hrs once youve paid up at the office its switched on within a couple of days.

Theres plenty of cheap stalls and cafes here for pork and rice basic dishes probably 35-70b per meal

You could probably live pretty easily on 40-50,000 baht per month so long as your not hammering it at the bars. :o
