I believe that the Affirmation to Marry must be stamped by your Embassy in Thailand, the Thais do not accept ones from your home country, they believe these can be fake.
I thought that might be the case. I guess there's no easy way out here.

Beside what you wrote about WP is completely wrong, in case of no visa and no return ticket just use one of the methods from the thread below. You friend will need a return ticket, the letter from the Employer in Thailand and Proof of his Qualifications, a Completed Visa Application form and Photo etc. Unless he can actually provide his ACTUAL Work Permit from the Thai Authorities presented here to the Thai Embassy during application for his Visa , he will have to have a return airticket and proof he can support himself in Thailand for the duration of the Visa.. Without the valid Visa, the Airline will also not BOARD him/her on a way one Ticket.

Thanks for the llink, I will have a look.

I read on a website that a south african loses their south african citizenship if they get citizenship in another country. I prefer keeping him a South African one rather than getting Thai citizenship for him. Althoug i dont understand how that works because he is half thai and half south african.
If i dont register his father I will just have to get him the non-O visa as well as for myself?
This isn't correct. There is nothing in South African Law that forbids South African citizens to acquire or hold a second nationality. I know quite a few South Africans who hold British, German etc passports in addition to their South African one. I would suggest you check this with your Home Office.
You are right. I see that one has to get permission first but can actually have dual citizenship. I didn't read properly.

Good luck on that........LOL
Good luck on what?

Thank you both. I thought about that right after i posted, so he can have both passprts then. I will register his father when he comes over then, seems like the best way to go.
About the half and half comment.. I didnt mean to offend anyone, just a manner of speaking, but I will refrain from using it in the future. My apologies.

I lived in Thailand but moved back to South Africa 7months ago to have my baby here. My Thai boyfriend is coming over in April. If we were to get married in South Africa and I moved back to Thailand, will my son need a visa? As far as I understand, I will get Thai citizenship but what about my son? My boyfriend is not registered as my sons father though, I prefer to keep it that way.
