Why don't they just give the job to the Dutch?
I read years ago that the Dutch came and gave an estimate on doing the job right. Then they were told that a certain percentage of the cost of the project would have to go into envelopes to high ranking officials. They left. That''s not how they do business.

seems like a case of pool electrification, and the hotel management is covering it up/
Those were also my thoughts. A qualified electrician should do an inspection of the wiring of the pool area. Pool electrocutions have happened before in Thailand.

Seems my decision to go back to the US in a few weeks is a good one.
We in the US are enjoying the amazing success of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines which are over 90% effective in preventing serious illness and even transmission of the virus in public. Mask mandates are dropping fast. Life is returning back to normal faster than anyone could have predicted. It's hard to get a flight reservation for the Memorial Day weekend because planes are full. While Thailand is busy pointing fingers at different groups(hi-so vs. illegal immigrants working in slave conditions)and restricting alcohol, vaccines here are available at most drug stores and even public places like churches, baseball games and subway stations with walkups welcome. The lack of organization and truth among Thai authorities is disappointing but not surprising. And yes, I've been to Thailand >10 times so I know how the country works/doesn't work. Finally, the vaccines are free for everyone.

As of today in the United States those who are fully vaccinated can now go maskless indoors and outdoors per the CDC.

More like 2-3 years. Covid in Thailand has just begun.

As an American, I have seen what works and what doesn't because we are months ahead of Thailand's vaccination program. The only way to restore some sort of normalcy to life and business to Thailand is through mass vaccination clinics. Thailand needs to find sources of it and be quick about it even if it means using the Russian or the Chinese vaccines. Lockdowns, arguably, are of limited value and hurt the locals almost as much of the virus.

By contrast when Trump wanted to fire the Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen a few days before the attack on Congress, the entire senior leadership of the DoJ threatened to resign so that Trump had to back down. So, it turns out principled resistance to Trump was not doomed in all cases.
Birx, Redfield, Fauci, and the other careerists in the public health departments of the government could have pushed back even if it cost them their jobs.
In fact, Fauci is the only one involved in the White House response that is still employed by the Federal government. None of the others where asked to join the Biden administration. They are currently job hunting or taking early retirement.

Not taking advantage of tourists is more easily said than done. Usually it starts right from the taxi that picks you up from the airport and ends only when you are back in the plane for your flight home.
I have used those exact same words when my American friends ask me why I won't return to Thailand after the pandemic. No more. The 36 hour trip from the US east coast just isn't worth it anymore after >10 trips to LOS. If I wanted to be treated with such contempt , I would remarry. Neither of those is going to happen.

Can only be grown outside(with no lights) so Cancer patients will be getting low-grade Thai Bush Weed grown my Mum and pop. Instead of higher grade star dog or lemon kush grown by experts in A greenhouse with Hydroponics and lights and filters not that I know about these things.
We have a well developed and well run medical MJ program in the state of Pennsylvania in America. All samples are certified by labs for quality and lack of pesticide residues. Grown and sold by private companies with monitoring by the State. Thailand could do worse than look at our excellent solution to MJ grown, regulation and distribution.

The United States has a multistage plan for rolling out the vaccine to the public based on risk analysis.

Exactly. At least half of the funds will go to graft. Then the work will be subpar and the in only a short time the sand will wash away. Rinse and repeat.

Not only gentiles get herpes. Jews do too.
Perhaps you meant to use the word "genital."

Not a fan of that translation. While of course new, it's hardly novel. Though indeed it'd be extremely novel if a certain section of the senate managed to acquire it.
"Novel" is the appropriate scientific term for a never before seen organism.

MAGA
I disagree. She is much smarter and way ahead of Trump on ideas. She intimidates him, not the other way around. Kudos to her for standing up to the American constitution.

How about giving credit to the Mercedes engineers who designed that car to be crashworthy. More logical explanation than an amulet but then again, this is Thailand.

Oh, and there is another one. "No more archaic alcohol free days" to reduce domestic tourists going overseas on long weekends during the low season, and foreign tourists from staying away!
I feel the same about the numerous alcohol free days. Who benefits? No one. I don't see the connection between Buddhism and alcohol.

Did the planning authority check to make sure that the infrastructure will be available? They will be needing electricity, water, waste disposal and transportation. All of these are on short supply on the island.

How many schools have a pool for students to learn how to swim. Very, very few from my observations. So where will students learn to swim?

Moderna at private hospitals: It'll cost 3,400 baht for two jabs, can pay from Thursday

I received the Moderna shots in late March and early April here in the US. No side effects. As a side note, the Moderna vaccine was the choice of America's chief medical officer, Dr. Fauci, and his family. My state, Pennsylvania, lifted all mask mandates yesterday, June 28. Life is returning to normal among the vaccinated in America. Less so for those choosing not to take any shots. Almost all hospital inpatients are those who have not been vaccinated.
