hi ... anybody stayed at this hotel ? thinking about booking ! is it guest friendly ? feedback appreciated
Hi
I stay at Montien House regularly and always enjoy my time there. The staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are well maintained. It does get extremely busy though especially around Christmas time and booking is essential.
When is your trip? I will be there from New Years Eve onwards.

Hi Dolly
The Bangkok Airways flights from Samui to Krabi are suspended at the moment, they may restart sometime after late October when work at Krabi Airport is due to finish. Best current option is to fly to Phuket and then its about 2 hours by road to Ao Nang. Do you intend staying on Phi Phi? Maybe you could think about staying in Ao Nang which wasnt so badly hit by the Tsunami, from there you can visit Phi Phi and other islands on day trips.

Im with craigt3365.
I used to love Samui but now only return to see my brother who still lives there. Is there anything "Thai" left at all? Yeah I know that there are still places on the back roads etc where you can get half decent food but what the ###### happened to Chaweng.... and what is that monstrosity of a building at Koh Matalan end that is visible almost the full length of the beach? Height of a palm tree

Hi mike
Just want to say its good to see you in this forum as well as learningthai.com
Your website has been a great resource for me ... I still find your dedication to helping other students of the Thai language amazing. I dont post in any forums as often as I should, maybe I should take a leaf out of your book!

Hi
I was last there in January and in Chaweng the bars are open until 2:00am and not 1:00am. There are a couple or three places still open until 4:00am, not sure of the names but "Solo Bar" was one and I think another was "The Pool Bar". I dont know for certain how these bars are getting away with it, although there are rumours
Note that the police clamped down on the 7-11s and they no longer serve alcohol after the bars close.
I will return in 6 weeks (not my favourite part of Thailand anymore but I have family there) but by then you will have already discovered if these bars are still open

Could try to get thailand-uk.com to join in. I recall that they attempted a similar campaign a couple of years ago that kinda fizzled out.
