This one needed a lift

Good to see you are on your way SE , I will be acquiring the same model soon

I am sure if you wait MJP will be here soon to fill you in on the latest , an admirable chap and he knows his subject very well , I would like to advise you that many camera makers have just made new entries into the ever expanding market and as a result the predesessors will have dropped in price rather dramatically , 35 k is quite a lot for a compact though
Personally as a user of both Compact and Dslr I would look at the Sony range , many users have only praise to reap about mirrorless cameras , I have a few different makes and personally I find the best colour rendition to be Fuji .
As for zoom capabilities Canon Sx 50 is hard to beat at the moment

It would appear that you have done a very fine job there Tywais ,
I enjoy watching Gavtrain and other tutes by Gavin Hoey , and I have tried this process as well.
The problem appears for me that I am using Elements 12 to refine and process and this program does not have focus stacking to the same effect of more elaborate and more expensive editing software.
It is somewhat biased and without plug-ins is just not working to capacity.
I have been looking for adaptive software to assist me in this regard and I will find and apply, just at the moment I am not going to succumb to having to pay every month for something I do not use all the time .
My preferred style of photography is Landscape and this feature of almost infinite DOF is fantastic for the outcome of an image , sort of in the same way that Pro's are using Capture One with digital backs etc., problem is for me that I don't have the same budget that these guys have nor the ability.
I have used and are using other photo editing software as well , one can get an insight into programs with free trials and I enjoy the ability to be able to do this , the issue is than once you have become adapted to their functionality and workflow you are just about ready to sign your contract !
I really have never been to much involved in the art of Photography until I realised that like-minded folk all suffer from different stages in their development, so it just not me .The friendly atmosphere and comeradery on this forum has given me the lift to be able to pursue my hobby a little more. This makes the difference in so many ways! I apologise for my rambling on.
The one thing I really must say is Photography ; for me has become a drug . I have dug deeper and have begun to experience the world a little clearer through different eyes , sure this is a digression but if you have all read up to this far then you were all here before me and you will all be here a long time after I am gone.
Enjoy , Develop and Smile.
Cheers

Maybe a Mark iv Canon with a loud enough mirror slap to wake a sleeping Wilderbeast in Kenya when taking a shot in Athens !
Damn is there a silencer for this thing ? ( I am referring to the Mark iii . btw.) in saying this.
Still fiddling

Just remember Green , it is confusing !
Only you will know what is right for you when , after all the priceless information you have gained from many enlightened professionals here , and sound advice as well , what feels good for your individual style.
And on a second note , whatever you purchase , be happy with it ! Find websites applicable to the camera to let others show you how good a unit it is .
I personally have gained much experience from viewing the great hearted folk on TVF photography forums , and their appraisals . They really do know their stuff !
Thanks to all members for me being able to " stalk " silently , and to those whom I have personally asked for help .
Cheers

Wife calls them Nantow from India she uses for Soop or Something. 2nd point, that pics from her Apple, and the ones from my Easy Share Kodak , and Sam Galaxy all come out different sizes and my ACDC Pro wont make al my pics the same size.Yet you all seem to post the Same Size no matter what U use...Im feeling a Tad Thick.
Not " Thick " , Ace , and if I may speak for myself , collectively , ... Aahemmm , cough , .. , We all post the same size because we are Old and Boring !

Have your Thai wife boil up a 10ltr pot of " Pickled Mudfish " -plara . palaa , whatever the pronunciation , then see if not only the paint smell remains but if your neighbours do as well !
Just another option !

That is very somewhat similar to what I PP , shaggy , so I went WWWII on the outcome of mine , I hope you don't mind David
Personally I prefer the portrait image , I believe that it has greater impact toward the focal point , the subject , but tonight I hacked out the Landscape one !

What started out with good intentions soon turned into a competition , I really do not think that this was the intention of shaggy1969 ,
I believe what he intended was to showcase the fantastic images that we all post
I think that we all want to display that we have a " Show worthy image " .
Some of us have the ability and resource to enable this , and some of us have " Heart " .
The factor that gives us the confidence to post amongst others with outstanding images / photos .
We post these images because we want to show our life to you ! To the viewer .
We want for you to view what we see , this is not National Geographic .
Maybe I am speaking alone , but I have a voice .
Maybe other posters feel the same as I do , but don't want to voice their thoughts , maybe others don't care about what someone else thinks.
I say good for them !
COMPETITION IS ONLY GOOD FOR THE WINNER
For what I see everyday when I log in is GOLD , there is always something outstanding to view . and Thank you all.
Yeah , I am just a Hacker , but I am a Hacker with a heart !

I personally think that this " Friendly competition " will start to be the demise of the good feelings I personally have being a general poster .
I can assimilate with many of the views and suggestions put forward , and I also think that this a good idea , though with constraints.
I would consider that even though we are adults , we all have personal views , and we all have Egos.
Being a poster on TVF gives me the opportunity to co-relate to other like-minded folk , though I do consider that I may have unintentionally ruffled some feathers even through the slightest misdemeanour, that being of ( prior posts / posted words / poor quality images / misguided representations etc etc )
Heck some of the people that view this thread and other sub-forums even take a dislike to your DP . Judgement comes at someone's price .
What I am trying to express is that I wish to be part of a community with good humour and good empathy , I believe I have found this here !
Competitions are good for personal EGO , and ok good for self betterment as well , but we have to consider that it is only good if you are not prepared to feel a loss , because someone will ultimately lose .
Hey , I am just a hacker , but... without the help of all those that post here , and personal help as well , I would not have developed a better image from whence I first posted , I am so very grateful for all your help.
This also comes from viewing the " Top shelf " as well and trying to replicate via post production and skill learning . Lurking about and trying to gain valuable information from those that inspire.
This, I am trying to say is not " Heart on my sleeve " , though maybe that is my personality .
I feel inspired from all who post , I read the photo for quality , for the story , for empathy , for awe factor , and for what I believe has the photographers ideal in the initial capture .
What I see is individual to what you see .
My apologies if you think I am of on a different tangent , but I believe this is relevant to the foundation we have now .

Great idea.
Where is Angiud anyway? I follow him on Flickr and he's been posting the most incredible butterfly shots.
I was kinda hoping you would come on board to give us a thrill MJP , could do with a few good shots as you have been away for a bit , hope you got a bit BTW.

Pro's Blowing , out of the water , never a bad thing ( restricted innuendo )
I think the concept is good shaggy , maybe a trial to gain the reaction from the many posters and the many members would be an insight into the fruition of your idea , I think that new submissions to keep the fire burning in different directions would be advantageous to the whole Photography threads here on TVF and maybe bring on board some new and invigorating posters as well , some new blood so to speak
Better you run it by the Mods first , I think
-
Accepted , I would have been happy with Grampa as well , I think the idea is good on pretext scraggy69 .
I do so however consider that it would end up a little bit messy , and a few hurt feelings with just maybe a ( missed it by that much ) opinion .
The Calendar competition is viewed by many TVF members and somewhat ambiguous to all those that view and vote , I consider that your idea is a fantastic opportunity for all those that post regularly to think about their best ^ shot .
The Calendar opportunity is promoted very well , and open to all as well.
There are many Professional Photographers out there that would blow this out of the water if they were to start submitting
Just my opinion .
Anyway just another mis-guided rant from the Goempa .

I thought it was ANGIUD shaggy
-
You are right , there are some variances on the design , though the concept is the same . I do not know the name nor am I aware that this spring clip is available as a one-off item . More attuned to manufacturers in a high volume environment I consider .
