  1. Where they had asked me for Proof Of Accomodation, I scanned my 4 hotel's 'confirmation' letters (printed out from their email) with all 4 pages overlapping so that the 'dates' were all showing..  the result was one A4 page with the 4 dates and part of the hotel's details.

I sent them this in jpeg format of course, all good. Doubt whether any 'human' actually looks at it.

My buddy did the e-visa thing last month and wasn't even asked for proof of accomodation.

    Streamlining the process???

  2. I recall years ago I wanted to take a photograph of my wife in the grounds of Wat Chedi Luang under a HUGE tree with a real camera (not phone) and there were a few focussing adjustments etc to make.

My wife was feeling uneasy and said we shouldn't be taking pictures here.

(she's Thai)...  with that said, a branch about 6ft long fell down from the tree and grazed her shoulder.

Lots of 'pee' in that compound!

You are obviously not Thai...   ask a Thai person!

You should stop arguing while you're still behind.

In your case, better to remain silent and be thought of as a fool, than to upload more posts about this topic and remove all doubt!

Check out either their all-green coloured CD (title cover insert)  or the one with the Thai Flag (on the title cover insert).

You're saying that Caribou isn't Lukthung because of your so-called experience in the Thai music industry?!?!  You certainly are a slow learner!   You can "name drop" all you want (re Sunaree) but that doesn't help the fact that you got this one wrong!

I said in my first post that Caribou was Lukthung..   you disagreed.

I'm outta here 'cos I WIN!

I'll let ChatGP have the final say.Screenshot_2023-10-17-07-04-22-64_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.thumb.jpg.98ace535e17549f2a4925c08a295b68a.jpgScreenshot_2023-10-17-07-04-22-64_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.thumb.jpg.98ace535e17549f2a4925c08a295b68a.jpg

Well I might not be Thai but have been going to concerts for over 26 years, more than 1200 of them as well as all the recording companies, Tv shows, singing competitions and holidays with singers. Here you are pretending you know what you are talking about when you cannot tell the difference between luktung, morlam and phua cheewit and recommending albums you cannot even say the names of.

One time at a M105 concert I gave Sunaree Rachesima a mali on stage and she heard a negative comment, she told the crowd that I knew more about Thai music than most of them, so no I don't have to ask any Thais about this. I did mention them retiring to the Mrs, she said about time as well!

    ...you still here?

Clueless I can assure you they have never sung either luktung or morlam, they were and remained a phua cheewit band which became more rack later on. They are fakes posing as protest singers with ad posing as working class to complete the illusion, while grovelling to the oppressors of the working class.

I don't know any luktung fans that like them, phua chee wit, it's a completely different genre. You said they were too political, can you name 4 songs that were 'too political'?

I'm unsure of their correct titles but I can sing you a few lines and maybe you'll recognize them and give me the correct song titles.

And they are definitely Lukthung or Morlam (Country).

Perhaps calling them a "protest" band is more accurate, and whether they're protesting against the right or wrong side of politics is a matter of personal opinion.

They are lucky enough to have the talent to express their opinion in the form of music.

Anyway, you say they're not political enough so what are you bitching about?  The fact that they supported the Yellow Shirts?

Too political, can you give an example? Not political enough, but not surprising from a yellow shirt and member of the elite (he was never poor) posing as working class and looking like a tuk tuk driver. Where are all the songs about real social injustice, poverty, corruption, slaughter of students and protesters or the wrongs of 112 law?

Ask any Thai ADULT that enjoys the lukthung genre what they think of the band.

If you could speak fluent Thai you could pick the double meanings in some of their lines.

I said "too political" and you said "not political enough"..."not surprising from a yellow shirt"..

I said TOO POLITICAL and you're actually agreeing with me in your provoking, argumentative way. If a yellow shirt isn't a political activist, I don't know what is!

  8. I first heard the band when I was in Thailand in 1983...   the 'flute' on the intro of their song MADE IN THAILAND sort've reminded of Jethro Tull...   and that song will always remind me of those early days in Thailand. I have a cassette and CD of that particular album.

However, apart from the memories of that song/album, I began to think into the 90's that the band was too political, a sort've Thai version of Midnight Oil.

Looking in though it does seem it’s the usual “peaceful” lot kicking off yet again. Putting aside history as if you don’t nothing in this world will get resolved, how can people shout “God is Great” whilst killing???  I’m back in the UK right now in my home city of Bristol  in a woke student area , the kind of area that has Lenin posters up and join the communist party etc etc. So I’m sure there’s gunna be the usual feel sorry for Palestine march in the coming days with a load of deluded students waving Palestinian flags and crusty old Che Guevara fantasists leading it.

Already have hundreds of Palestinian / Hamas supporters marching through Sydney last night.

Police warned any Jewish people or their supporters to STAY OUT OF THE CITY!

    The world's gone mad!

Wow, all the IAM-certified drivers, Advanced Police-instructed drivers and general personifications of driving perfection are, once again, out in force.

If you're talking about most of the other people's comments on this thread then we can give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you're exercising your extreme sarcasm..   OR, you've just got no common sense (much like anybody that would be silly enough to ride a bicycle on a Thai highway!

  11. Swim in shark infested waters, get bitten. The universe is trying to tell you something, best listen up.

    stupid comment

    NOT STUPID AT ALL!

Common sense is the key word here.

It's quite legal and logical(?) to walk along the Klong Toei waterfront at 2am with 50K Baht hanging out your back pocket...

BUT YOU JUST DON'T DO IT.

Cycling on Thai Highways and Roads = Deathwish.

  12. Give me a bottom bunk in a carriage with fans any day.

I hide my bottle(s) of Red behind the curtain as I drink from a coffee cup. Also take on with me a small Tupperware container with cut up bread and cheese.

I arrive the next morning a little worse for wear, but I've traveled from A to B and got a free night's accommodation.

I always FLY back from Chiang Mai.

How would you know, personal experience?  Got anything to back up your BS "BS" such as naming the prison that shackles all the inmates?

I'm not stupid enough to blab my personal experiences on this Forum, and especially to you.

I know that inmates are shackled mostly for disciplinary reasons (and not JUST in solitary confinement) as well as to and from Court appearances and medical appointments outside the walls....   all witnessed by the 'locals' in the towns as they go about their day to day business.

  14. I used to pull out the drawer from the wardrobe, turn it upside down and gaffer tape an envelope with a credit card and large denomination cash in it...

I'd always leave my passport and flight tickets in the (2 keys reqd) reception safe.

The old gaffer tape comes in handy!

Sometimes the bedside cabinets have an enclosed space at the bottom between cupboard section and the floor ..  a good hiding place.

Just don't hide stuff when you bring a "friend" back to the room and you've had a lot to drink.

On a tangent..    when I was staying in a hotel with my wife in Bangkok she wanted to turn the large cushions over that you sit on , that are on the lounge. she found a girl's ID card between the cushions ....   Hotel room maids are 'big' on room presentation, but rarely give attention to detail unless they're working in a 4 star + hotel ????

  15. Our only choices here in Sydney for a DIRECT flight to Bangkok are THAI and QANTAS.

I fly Business, and THAI is marginally better than QF.  Since flights resumed post-covid you get the feeling that (whilst onboard the THAI flight) that they're 'trying' .  QANTAS customer service is non existent, both on the ground AND in the sky.

I wish Emirates would resume the Sydney -Bangkok route again.....

until they do, I'll continue to fly THAI.   QANTAS is overrated!

  16. There is so much negativity out there on Audiophile websites regarding MQA.

If you're using TIDAL you're better off using the lossless HI-FI option.

If you're seeking "quality" sound from a streaming service, it all starts from the source, if your MQA version is from a crappy over compressed remaster, you're not getting what you think you're paying for!

Nothing wrong with KEF speakers, I own a pair myself. I hope you have a DAC that is MQA ready.

Also, not all titles are available in MQA. Go to the Steve Hoffman Audiophile website and in the top RH cnr, type MQA into the 'search' and read all the for's and against.
