Make sure a TM 30 (address update) gets filed soon as possible after you get to Nakon Rat.
A couple of years ago I flew USA back to my home in Pattaya after an extended absence and didn't go to the IO till aprox 3 months later. I was told if I did it again my wife would have to pay a fine.
Oh! That hadn’t crossed my mind, probably better do that midweek when we get done with quarantine.
thanks for the advice. -

When someone enters Thailand they are given a stamp that has untill date. In the case of tourist visa that would be 60 days. The covid insurance needs to cover that period.
Subsequent extensions do not require covid insurance.
I bought about 3 months of coverage, but will probably look for some basic health insurance in the future.

You will have to apply for a 90 day non-o visa entry at immigration before applying for the one year extension of stay based upon retirment.
Requirements for the visa are here. https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/8-1.pdf
You can ignore 5.3 if you have had the 800k baht in the bank for a long time. It is only in the clause since the money only needs to be in the bank on the day you apply.
It appears you will need to apply for a 30 day extension of your visa exempt entry to meet the 15 days remaining on your entry requirement. You can apply for the extension on the same day you apply,
Thank you for all the good information. Sounds like a plan.

Yes, to enter the country.

Entered Thailand visa exempt. In quarantine right now, planning to do a retirement extension, money in the bank for a long time. Will be heading to Nakhon Ratchasima after quarantine, will I be able to go to immigration, with proper paper work and get this done?
thanks in advance

If they could only stop aggressive driving and the number one cause, slow these people down!!! Would reduce accidents big time.
-
These cars are confiscated!!! Little or no expense to the government. There should not be a "reserve" price. It's all a typical Thai way of doing things. Most of the cars will probably end up in the hands of high ranking government people anyway.

I have a 79 Honda CB 650 (police bike). I'm looking for a good mechanic to rebuild the carbs and possibly a few other things.
The Hua-Hin area would be nice. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What's really sad is, I've driven past a couple bad accidents, and just seen lots of people standing around taking pictures, talking and laughing like it's some kind of special event!! Sad, depressing and for me the worst part of Thailand.

My first reply wasn't fair. But all the reasons for accidents that you brought up are true. And for this, is the reason that drivers need to slow down. Speed magnifies very mistake that drives make. If they slow drivers down and work on all the (death traps) U-turns along with many other reason for accidents then maybe higher speeds will be safer.
This country doesn't have and interstate system like America and many other countries so speeds need to be reduced.
-
I was a driver in America for twenty years, and being in Thailand can't believe these people can be so reckless, careless and rude on the roads. They honestly have no common sense behind the wheel.
-
It's real simple you dumb ass government, hire real road cops give them radar guns and write tickets for speeding! Speed is killing thousands of people every year. "Speed Kills"!!!!! Period.

I always thought we needed 800,000 baht for a marriage visa, which is it???

4 or 5 months back some big shot transportation guy said they wanted to change the driving from right to left hand. He said they would make a ruling in August, has this been swept under the rug, has anyone heard???
