  1. protecting themselves from this bitter thai winter weather that i keep seeing on tv ,i mean its really cold out there ! only 23 this morning at 0530 ! can you imagine !

  2. unless your driving a boat not so much choice its 41 and 4 both are suicidal roads as the only way to go .dont be under stress ! as you near Bangkok you have a lot of choice , personally i take 35 then join expressway to get out ASAP. 9 is the ring and busy although east side quieter as you have to pay .perhaps not bad to break journey in Hua hin , I happen to like the place . drive carefull ...drive DEFENSIVE !

  3. if you really need help , i know at least 20 foreigners in MSK ,but try to get together more concrete details , ie direction of village , other contacts you had or lady had .the ladies usually have a good network . I have not heard of a missing or sick foreigner , but aussiesteve has been in the area for some time . many come and go.good luck !

  4. I fully sympathise with you . next year go to castle how chow with the entire family and leave them next to the pool and enjoy being looked after by howard and his team ! We have done it for some years and its worth it !turkey, xmas pud, mince pies and the rest .

  5. have stayed many times ,try to stay for sunday lunch as its very good ,need to book in advance.pool huge, great for kids as has shallow bits.understand how the hot water works as it can catch you out when its cold.Howard a very good host.several use facilities for day use good when not so far away .christmas event so good we are coming from new zealand.ps steak is from frenceh farm so THE best in thailand .if your only interested to spend 30bht stay at home and eat chicken feet.

  6. mgb you are 100% correct but visa is a black magic art ,even after reminding the embassy of the european commission rules it may not help as goodwill is required and this is not on tap.a first visa application of more than 30 days is a real risk of denial.as i said in first post what is actually wanted to be seen is not on the official list of docs ...why ? because the embassy would be at risk of legal action.so for a good chance of acceptance be modest !

  7. you need to apply to the Germans clearly stating your plan .they will give you 45 or 50 days.this is from your day of entry to Germany.as for the UK its a seperate visa and you need to apply in Bangkok also stating your plan .its valid 6 months from date of approval of visa.dont forget you need all supporting documents and if this is your /her first application also piles of other documents not mentioned officially.

  8. well you seem to have answered your own question ! this is thailand ! bars on inside normal ,usually cannot open so dont get fried when place burns down !the roof is equally a weak spot as only need tin opener.camera is good ,not expensive ,can take with you when moving but perhaps attracts attention its amazing what you can see on it when its not easily seen by others.best bet are very good neighbours and a huge dog.

  9. i have dab radio and digital tv receivers both from europe but neither work in thailand .however the thai digital tv receiver works very well and is always in use when heavy rain weakens satellite reception.

  10. as has been said 3months before your arrival . dont forget you need to make an appointment and that is 2 months before meaning a total of 5 months.

as for what is required what is written and actually wanting to be seen are not the same .

cost ? well it will go up .i reckon 600 pounds as we need to go to Bangkok and stay in a hotel and eat .we dont all live around the corner.

you need to prove without any doubt that your other half will leave as per your itinary .a ticket is simply not enough .if she already has a good record of visa compliance its a bonus.

  11. not exactly near the water park but if you have a car short drive is a great place with a huge pool ,in fact a beach resort with excellent food and a great sunday roast ,its run by howard a good host..castle how chow .poolside bungalow.

  12. well yesterday i replied to another but related problem on this forum and was slated by an "expert" but i can tell you why you failed ,her first entry visit is too long ,split it up and have the first visit no more than 30 days.she has not shown that she has enough in thailand to entice her back ,sick parents ,young children and land and a car are all bonus points.she also has not shown consistancy in travel ie come and go on several visits to other countries .start off slow and not demanding and you have a better chance!you can also present a character reference from a good source ie tambon chief ,known monk etc.also your tickets ,its better to travel both ways together and have the tickets paid for (have flexible date ticket for your safety )
