  1. im not taking issue on any forum but whats written officially and what is expected are two entirely different matters .if your uk 6month visa starts on 1 april and you enter on september 1st you have 30 days left in the uk .any person involved with "inviting "or any other discription is "responsible"ie will be questioned why there is an overstay.UK is now monitoring exit either by airport or any other means ,and about time as well.its still better to enter illegally ,easier, more chance of long term stay than to jump through ever changing hoops designed to protect the rear end of officials and please the public.

  2. take care with "family " in principle this is for thai to visit thai ie mother to visit daughter who studies .general visitor is as it says to make touristic visits and also see some old friends.this general visitor has less implications.do not ask for too much as too much means too little for you.as visitor its you who is responsible to foot the bill and ensure she gets out in time. do not ask for a long continious stay .in any case stay is restricted to 180 days (running from when you apply in bkk) in a year so a one year means she can come and go several times in one year up to 180 day.

  3. look for hola better internet .you can see what others deem you may not .like the newspaper or tv channel .i do not know about your requirements but for example you can watch tv from a home country thats blocked either in los or at its source.

  4. one point i have not seen is that the ground rod needs to "ground " as when its dry it will not work .putting a rod in the middle of a concrete slab is fatal as its not grounding when dry .normal good practice is to put it where the aircon condensation pipe emptys therefore the ground will always be moist.in the normal world this earth rod is measured with a resistace set "megger" to ensure your safety.

  5. ive had a few nz visa for thai partner ,you need visa for australia as there is no real transit in perth ,we were collected in person at the plane and put directly in departure longe as we had no visa . they were helpfull .fly thai its a good service. as for nz visa they required proof of relation and financial situation etc, much the same as for schengen .we have had now 3 nz tourist visa .its vfs in bangkok dealing with visa and they have been helpfull .

  6. i have a trd and have rented several times the swift .these cars are not comparable as one diesel hence a lot of pulling (torque) and the petrol horse power with high rpm .so for driving in a hilly country(or pulling trailer ) go for diesel .if you need to scream away from the lights go for petrol.i happen to prefer my trd as the economy is very good.diesels could be banned in big city (in discussion ).i have found the swift fuel consumption a bit heavy .

  7. like a beach resort with excellent food ? well only one place to go ...i go often..it has big pool and sand, good to get your child into the water castle how chow its on a line from msk to udon so n of khon kaen to the east .other than that stay at home make some day trips ,have a choice of enormous lakes or ancient khemer ruins, dinosaur remains..lots to see !

  8. other tv readers living around there perhaps have better info ,i am in london.road mahasarakham to yang talat/kalasin in kanthanerwichai past old wat on your right then couple hundred mtrs on left have fire station.opposite is a small complex with pool ,i think 3 places to rent but no idea how big.its brand new and opening about now.failing that there are several new housing projects around msk ,its possible the developer could consider to rent out ,perhaps worth asking.good luck!

  9. normally you were in kanthanerwichai so the chickens are all around ,im in the next place down, si suk and auntie has just sold some off ,wait for the wife to come back from som tam and I can get price or where to buy .balat market has a lot of stuff its Tuesday eve sat morning.

  10. I have recently used KAN air ,it was an exceptionally good experience.ATR72 very good staff all round ,choice of hot meal.it was like going back 30 years when to fly was a pleasure not a nightmare. I flew kkc cnx and would use them again if possible.anything wrong ?always something !web site needs more work but I booked in January before the aircraft were there so perhaps running good now.

  11. Hi well ive just done it but not khon kaen in MSK .a week and 300 km and one accident (in transport office )later its done .nightmare.positive side ...everyone did their best to help me .negative....no one knew what to do .so take EVERYTHING you have ..in duplicate signed by 3 thai officials .but in krabi it goes in 2 minutes with only rental contract !in other words its like the visa ..every depot has its own interpretation !good luck ..stay COOL !

  12. im in isaan and this weekend we have boon maha chart .ive seen video from yasothon but can someone briefly explain it ?

the wat all cleaned up and a "mural " of Siddhartha tales is out and paraded.villagers from other moo arrive and prayers and music . im interested in the background ! many thanks

  13. there is lots of info in the diy forum here ,in a nutshell dont get a unit too small ,the roof temperture is about 60c so this is hovvering on your head well into the night .so insulate well.use converter (do not confuse with reverseable )you may need up there heat in winter so reversable is also required.inverter is that the compressor runs more but at a slower speed therefore less electric .my 40sq mtr living room at this moment at 38c outside is using 600watt so about 2 hours for 6bht.home pro is more expensive but you could find a deal .if you can buy in december as the demand is low and more bargains .i used a thai shop but cannot read the name ,it had good prices and good service so look around .once again ...insulation !floor walls and CEILING !

  14. Ive driven from krabi in south to khon kaen numerous times .well firstly your journey is easily done in a day .a day means daylight .do not drive in the dark .be a very defensive driver .dont even think it cant happen ...it will .use a gps .its essential.car rental company has them .buy your own if you consider ..or are able to return .your brain cannot cope with looking at coded street indications, various incidents, isaan music, heat and jet lag(even if you arrived a month ago ) and driving .

as for rest stops use any service area with a 7/11 and buy a snack in it .this removes the risk of medical attention en route.there are hotels on the way but as all over thailand most are "short time " and if your partner is conservative forget them .

dont forget your gps needs time in the open air to find your present location so when you pick the car up wait in the open for it to work or you will be sent on a wild goose chase. enjoy the trip...its possible !
