  1. Thanks for your suggestions DGIE. I know, making something quite simple, more complicated. Still a bit naive with all the options, of which there seem to be a good few. I still have to use my return flight within a few weeks even if i had an onward cheap ticket to kl in this time?Cheers again.

  2. Ubon. I have just looked on the Thai Embassy website in London and it does in fact say nothing about financial proof rather than 20000 baht per person. Birmingham also. Hull have mysteriously dropped their 800000 rule since i applied last August. Wish they would make their minds up. If applying from the Uk i will apply by post to anywhere but Hull. Thanks again and i apologise for making you repeat yourself again. :)

  3. Thank Ubon. My stay here is 4 and a half months and am due back in UK on 12th March. Apart from a month in July I will be back from end October to March again at the end of the year. The worries will start again close to that time. Never sure what immigration have up their sleeves next. I do miss the family but need to leave to work. I did phone the Hull embassy when I noticed the new rules last year and the sympathetic lady told me, no financials no non o visa. She actually suggested the triple tourist route. I was not too familiar with extensions from immigration and so on. I still felt a bit like a criminal coming into Thailand though as I knew I was visiting my family and not strictly a tourist. I always have a return ticket too, and more than enough to support myself, but not the ridiculous amount they now ask for a 4 month visit. I certainly wouldn't class myself as a chancer, I just need to see my wife and young daughter, like many people. I notice that you Ubonjoe usually reply first, and very quickly. I appreciate that very much. Thank you.

  4. I have been splitting my time 50-50 between Thailand and the Uk for 3 years now. I always came on non o visas. Followed the rules. Never overstayed. I am married. Have a 2 year old daughter. I built a house for my wife and myself when i am here. I obviously send money every month when not here. Then the rules were changed virtually overnight with the 800,000 baht lump sum rule. I am self employed so dont have " monthly " income, but easily meet the 40,000 baht limit. I do get fed up reading about some people on here saying to follow the rules, when the rules have given me major worries when all i want to do is see my family, not work over here. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a lump sum in their bank. I now have to fret every time i apply for a tourist visa when i come over for a few months.

  5. Sorry to be a pain but just one more question. It asks on the forms for my permanent residence. I spend 6 months in Thailand and 6 months in the uk a year. Would it be ok to put in any one of these or would i be better keeping to my uk address and putting an additional note into the application in section 8. My wife and daughter stay in Thailand all the time. Thanks.

  6. Hello. My daughter is 15 months old and was born in Thailand. I am British. I was hoping to take my wife and daughter on holiday next year and was wondering how difficult it would be to get my daughter a uk passport. I have been on to the British embassy Bangkok website and it looks quite a busy procedure. Any idea of what forms i need to download and complete. Would appreciate any advice greatly. Thanks.

  7. Just a question. I have a house in Thailand, wife and 1 year old daughter. I work in the uk.I noticed that you can register a child with the British embassy in Bangkok. Would it be advisable to register my daughter with the British embassy in Thailand? Are there any benefits to this. I would be looking to take them both over for a two week holiday in the next 2 years. Thanks.

  8. Thanks for the reply. No, i am married to a thai lady and we have a one year old daughter and have been whacked with the new non o rules as i dont have 800,000 baht in my bank or a monthly income of 65,000( i easily make that every month but am self employed so how can they expect me to make money when i am not here?!) i was just hoping now to visit my wife for a few months at the end of the year and just thought about arriving "visa free" and extending my stay by 15 days each time across the Lao border which is only about an hours drive from where we stay. I will only be staying for 3 months and can only see this way to achieve this. Unless i am not thinking sensibly about this!

  9. Hello. I wonder if anyone could give me info on the rule regarding flight dates if i was to extend my tourist visa over land every 15 days up to the 90 day limit. Would i need a return flight dated for 30 days in order to enter the country or could it be dated for for the 90 day limit. I would really appreciate some advice. Thanks.
